Hi Designers. My client is looking to have a logo and business card developed to take her business to the next level.
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?

Eye catching logo that is chic and sophisticated -- classy, not babyish, that will catch the attention of the sophisticated shopper.
What are your long term goals?
Long terms goal is to launch a website for clients to place orders for their custom orders.
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience.
Upper Middle Class Females aged 25-45 for the purses (many women older than 45 like the tote bags). Expectant parents and grandparents of all ages for the baby items, baby shower and new baby gifts.
She also would like to target the corporate market (e.g. a few of our customers are HR managers or similar types who buy baby gifts for expectant mothers in the office).
Who would you like to add to your audience?
Currently most of her shoppers are local or those that have learn of her products via word of mouth. She is currently trying to branch out and do more marketing to reach a wider audience, but the market demographic is the same.).
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
My client wants a chic and sophisticated logo that will appeal the the fashion savvy crowd. It MUST include her business name and a paisley symbol. It should not be cute or babyish. As an example of the type of Paisley that inspired her business name please visit http://www.amybutlerdesign.com/images/fabrics/GINGER.CAP3.013.jpg
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Client does NOT want to see anything in brown, red, or royal purple.
Client is open to other colour combinations, but likes the following colours/combination of colours:
sage green/butter yellow
soft blues
all shades of purple (but not deep or royal purples) -- lilacs, lavendars, periwinkles
pale - lt carnation
Client is not interested in pastel colours or bold colours. She is looking for soft colours and are soothing and inviting.
In addition to the above listed my client would be open to looking at colours that are perceived as being sophisticated, classic looking, etc.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Design must include some type of Paisley
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Logo should reflect professionalism and style

http://www.2sisterdesigns.com
http://www.sophieandlili.com/
http://www.ciaspalette.com/
http://www.junkinourtrunk.com/
http://www.sewprettyonline.com/index.html
Client likes simple logos – company name and a symbol – with a font that is not too fussy but still unique and a little funky looking.
What sets you apart from your competitors?
Unique and high quality fabrics, attention to detail and product features (slightly larger than average hooded towels, tote bags that aren’t so big they look like shopping bags, etc.), easy to navigate website (coming in the future), custom product features.
Targeted Message:

Unique, stylish and up to date yet not too trendy or extremely off the wall
Technical details...final files will need to be delivered in layered files compatible with photoshop 7.0 as well as in .EPS format.
Looking forward to seeing your entries.
Thanks,
Rebecca, BMC

Just wanted to check in on this project.
Paula my client is still discussing your submissions with her partner.
To the rest of the designers: I know our deadline is still a bit aways, but is there anyone else who is planning to enter the contest for this project? My client is inquiring if I will be sending her more design options to review. I am not meaning to rush anyone, but if I know that there is more to look forward to that will appease her eagerness for a bit longer.
Thanks, everyone!

Thanks for your submission Alex.
To everyone who has submitted something so far. I just wanted to share the initial feedback from my client. She is very impressed with all the submissions so far. She'll be conferring with her partner tomorrow and I should have some specific feedback on the designs by Tuesday, if things go as I hope.
Please, keep the submissions coming. The more the merrier. :D

Feedback! :D
Paula Design 1: My client REALLY likes this design, the colours, the font, everything. She has no changes to request at this time.
Paula Design 2: She also likes this submission, but thinks the purse design is too limiting as that is only part of their business, so I think this design is not going to do it.
Mark: My client also liked your submission. She's not crazy about the colour. Could you give us a few more colour options...a new green one would be fine, but perhaps a "fresher" looking green? She likes the font.
Alex: I personally love the duality of the motif you've created. We do think it needs some tweaking, though. Can you elongate the motif a bit so that it more closely resembles paisley without losing the foot duality? My client would also like to see a more stylized font. Something closer to like what Paula used in her first submission. Also, she likes the purple that you've used, but she is not crazy about the particular green you've used. Could we try another shade of green or another colour to complement the purple?
I look forward to seeing the revisions. I am travelling tomorrow and Wednesday, but should be able to answer any questions you have tonight or when I'm back online on Thursday at the latest.
Thanks Everyone!
Also, the contest is still open, so if anyone else would like to join. Please post a note and let us know so we can look forward to your submission.

Hi bogglins,
Thank you for your submissions. The imagery is looking really good, I think she will like it, but I know the font is not going to work for her. Could you try a more stylized and sophisticated font? Doesn't necessarily have to have the fill, but definitely needs to be more chic.
Thanks!

bogglins,
Initial feedback is that my client REALLY likes the paisley graphic, but the font is not doing it for her. She is looking for a more sophisticated font. She likes the fucshia/grey business card style better, but she doesn't like those colours. She likes the colours of the earlier version, but would like to see the colours softer. So can go back to the initial colours, soften them, and give us a few sophisticated font styles to look at? Thanks!
Mark,
My client LOVES the graphic, no changes there, but she doesn't feel that the purple paisley is sophisticated enough. Can you try it in just black or another colour?
bogglins/Mark: This is just the initial feedback I received. I didn't want to keep you guys waiting too long. I have asked her if she can be more specific on what she would like you try colourwise. I will let you know specifics as soon as she gets back to me.
Thanks for the revisions guys...things are really looking good and my client is very excited about the possibilities.

...the promised revision :)

09-02-2005, 06:05 PM
Okay guys, just a few more minor changes:
Bogglins: the colours she's like you to try are a pale terra cotta and soft aqua/turquoise and a sage green and a palish soft blue. Again the font needs to be a more sophisticated font. You could give her a few font options at once if it is convenient.
Mark: For now can you try one version with just a black font and one using the same teal logo you've used in the design? Nothing needs to be done to the graphic at all. We're just altering the font colour.
Alex: My client is VERY happy with the revision of the paisley and really likes the font you've used. Could you do a version with the same colours, but soften them a bit? We'd also like to see a version in a pale terra cotta and soft aqua/turquoise and a sage green and a palish soft blue.
You're all making the decision very difficult for my client. She's really liking them all. :)
I thought I would show you one with black type, and one with grey. :)

bogglins,
Thanks for the revisions. My client is happy with the colour options you've offered. No changes there, but the font still doesn't work for her. Can you give us a few more font options? I've spent some time browsing through myfonts.com, in order to give you some ideas of the sort of font my client is looking for. I only went through 6-7 pages of fonts, so I know there are others their that she would like, but here are a few I know she would like:
Dalliance
Bodoni Classic Swashes
Filgerish
Odette
University Roman
Allison
Frivolous
P22 Oh Ley
Wade Sans Light
Carlton
Something more along the lines of the fonts listed above would suit her taste better (this list is just meant to show her taste/style and are not outright suggestions...just trying to help you out in selecting a font she will like better).
Mark: My client likes the grey more than the black. We're still talking about a dark teal for the font. No changes yet. I will let you know if she wants to see the dark teal (may even have a specific RGB value for you to work from). Will keep you posted.
Alex: Excellent. We're looking forward to it.
Thanks everyone.

Hi Everyone,
My client has narrowed it down to Paula's first design and Mark's version4.
This project is a 2 part project...both logo and business card. Could the two of you please submit some business card designs for my client to review. She would like to use them as an aid in deciding between the two designs.
Thanks so much to everyone for participating. It's been a hard decision for her. So many great options to choose from.

I just wanted to thank all of the participants again for entering this contest...you all made this a very difficult decision for my client and everyone was in contention until the final day. Nerve-wracking was the word my client made in referring to making this decision...she really liked aspects of all the the designs so much.
In the end, the winner of the contest is Paula. :) My client chose your first design, but she is still working on choosing a business card version. You can hold off on preparing any files for us to download until she's made that decision. Hopefully she will have decided later today and I will report back. I just didn't want to keep you all in suspense any longer than necessary.
Again, thank you all for participating and doing such and awesome job.

Paula,
My client is trying to decide between version 4 and version 6 for her business card. She likes aspects of both designs.
She doesn't have any changes at this time for version 6.
On version 4:
- she would prefer a cream backgroud
- she loves the watermake and doesn't want to lose that, so if the background goes to cream, the watermark colour would need to change, right?
- she doesn't like the strip of blue across the bottom where the URL is. She'd like you to remove this, but she feels that if this is removed, there needs to be more of the blue incorporated into the design somehow.
Okay, that's all for now. Sorry it was so long in getting back to you on this.
