I am currently running a blog that provides news and podcasts about the ongoing labour dispute at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). You can visit the blog at http://cbcunplugged.com

I am looking for a better logo than the crappier one I put together. It must contain the site name (CBCunplugged.com) and must provide room for a tagline (which I'll pop in myself later).

Some theme points to help you in the design:

-- CBC is Canada's public broadcaster. It has radio, television, and web services.

-- Its colours are red and blue (the exact colours are, in fact, used in the current site logo). I'd like to maintain those colours in the final logo.

-- The dispute is a lockout. That is to say, management has locked the union members out. Some theme about a lock, or locked door, or padlock, etc might be good. You'll notice on the site the CBC logo with a loop by it, making it a padlock. That kind of clever idea.

-- I need one that works well as both a horizontal banner and as a square block (two designs).

Hi Moz... I like the concept of the physical unplugging, and I like the G becoming the plug, but I find the flag too big and distracting....

Also happy to receive other ideas...

Hi - I really like the red and blue one. Could you reverse the bold/not bold so that "unplugged" is in bold?

Also, have a look at the real CBC logo at http://www.cbc.ca/ - is there anyway you can decrease the height of the icon so that it roughly matches one of the semi-circles in the logo?

Would you like to see just the text version of mine w/o the leaf?
Would you like to see a version using the leaf somewhere scaled way down?

There is version with your request. If I decrease height more, icon will lose padlock look:
