Greetings, designers! We are excited and looking forward to working with you at DO in creating our new logo design.
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Busy Bee’s Cleaning Service
What type of product or service do you offer?
Residential house cleaning
How long have you been in business?
Just starting
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
A logo that stands out & catches the eye of the typical “desperate housewife”, the single guy who works 50+ hours per week, and even those who are retired and/or physically challenged.
What are your long term goals?
Our long-term goals are to possibly expand from residential to residential and office/commercial cleaning. Thus, our logo will want to appeal to both residential and business prospects.
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience.
Men and women 21-99. The majority of our prospects are between the ages of 30 and 55, both men and women.
Who would you like to add to your audience?
Eventually, we would possibly like to attract both commercial/office cleaning and post construction cleaning clients.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
We’re thinking about a logo with a mascot, although not sure how this mascot should look. Then again, if a designer has a better idea, we might drop the mascot idea altogether! Although the name can portray a “cutesy” image, we need it to look professional enough to attract the proper clientele. See competitor URLs below.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Black and yellow/yelloworange. We would also want a logo that would look equally well in only black and white.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
We don’t want to give too much information so as to stunt the wonderful creativity of the designers, but okay, here goes: The worker bee is (obviously) busy! Envision a hive (which represents the “home/office, etc”), and/or a bee with a feather duster/vacuum/mop, etc., flying around cleaning off the letters in our business name. (Then we could post in the “elements” forum and have it turned into a flash animation for our web site! Our logo would “appear out of the dust” or become “shiny” as the bee flies by “busily” dusting/cleaning). The honey comb represents the “sweet” in the phrase we in North America have come to know as “home sweet home.” With that…let your creative juices flow!
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Hard-working, efficient, thorough cleaning company (we ain’t skeered of toilets!), although happy, not tough (happy in that we are helping others maintain a clean, healthy environment).
What is your tagline or slogan?
None at this time. We’re toying with “We make your home bee-utiful,” “…bee-cause clean is sweet!” Or “…bee-cause you have better things to do!” However, there are those on our team who think this is too tacky.
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
We clean houses for people with better things to do…people like you!
Where will your new logo be used?
We would like to be able to use it on business cards and invoices as well as embroidery for polo shirts and work aprons. We also have a web site, www.busybeescleaningservice.com and would like to have it there, also. We were thinking about car magnets/detailing but are undecided at this time. Of course, we would also like to be able to use it in our advertising campaigns (i.e., fliers, door hangers, etc.).
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
The “M” maid service franchises (several that start with the letter “M”). Their logos are nice. There is one where the “d” in “maids” is a vacuum cleaner; clever. We believe DO can help us come up with a design that is as clever or even moreso than that! Your archives attest to that!
List competitive URLs if possible

http://www.bee-clean.com (I love watching the intro to this site!)

http://www.maids.com
What sets you apart from your competitors?
Quality of service. Also, hospitality to our customers. In addition to a sparkling clean, healthy living environment, our clients will receive a quarterly newsletter with cleaning/organizing tips and ideas, a birthday card on their birthday, and first-time customers also receive a surprise gift when they return home!
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Busy – full of activity, on the go, hard-working, diligent, industrious, productive.
Bee – Worker bees produce a finished product that is sweet.
