Hello,

The flash animation would be for a website we are developing in conjunction with an advertising campaign that promotes the URL www.rustsucks.com. We recently purchased a web site template: www.galvanizeit.org/ref/original/ that we could use as a base to create the site. We have since modified and removed the flash elements on the template to look like this: www.galvanizeit.org/ref/rustsucks/ so that we could communicate our advertising campaign to our supporters. However, we would like to re-implement the flash elements because we feel our adaptation is too bland. We also implemented the java rollovers at the top because none of us can code flash, but like the "original" flash rollovers better and would like to revert back if possible.

The flash project would do the following:

- use the flash navigation found in the ".../original/" template edited with the text found on the rework ".../rustsucks/".
- edit/create the flash to include a series of rotating pictures and quotes to convey a message in a similar layout as to what the image shows on the "rustsucks" page. I had envisioned this as being a series of rotating pictures and quotes that would drive home our message.
- begin with the quote and image that is currently posted on www.galvanizeit.org/ref/rustsucks (the original artwork is attached as "header_rustsucks_bolt.psd")
- rotate/transition this new quote "The American Society of Civil Engineers recently graded the nation's infrastructure a "D"" in place of the old quote while rotating in a new picture on the right (use the infrastructure.jpg picture)
- create a collage of rusty pictures from the files in the "rusty collage" folder. Use this as the background picture for the next transition while rotating in this quote: "Is repairing rusty steel sucking money from your budget?"
-create a collage of galvanized pictures from the files in "galvanized collage". Use this as the background for the next transition while rotating in the phrase: "The Solution?" fade out/fade in of this quote "GALVANIZE IT!"
-have the flash animation run once and stop on the first image and quote.

As stated before, we would also like to use the flash navigation element from the original template (www.galvanizeit.org/ref/original) instead of the java rollovers we created. i have been told by another programmer that the fla file they included in the template is not organized very efficiently and it might by difficult to edit. So this is not a major concern and this piece would be optional for the project. The main focus would be an eye-chatching flash banner beneath the header and top-level navigation.

I've included all the files you should need in an attached zip file. It includes the fla file that can be used as a base if you think you can tackle the navigation portion. Otherwise a design built from scratch that fits the dimensions of the banner (766w x 187h) would be sufficient.

All of the files that you will need are located here: http://www.galvanizeit.org/ref/rustsucks/rustsucksflashproject.zip

I hope this isn't too confusing and let me know if you have any questions. We need this project to be completed ASAP...no later than September 21st. Thanks!

Hello Aga,
please download my entry, swf file in zip.
the file size is quite big, 472 KB, it's because of fade in & fade out the image.

gig you are supposed to display the Flash entries in an HTML page so the clients do not have to download them. Just make a simple web page and link them to it.

Thank you :)
p.s. it's because, not "coz"

Hello Aga,

Here is my submission. :) It's under 260kb. I didn't include a loading bar because I find that most clients do not like them, and it isn't that big, however, I can create one if you would like.

Here it is: Click Me (http://corporate.rg3entertainment.com/work/DO/rustSucks.html)

Let me know what you think!

Thank you,
Rege

Hi AGA,

Here is the first revision. The following is the list of changes:

URL:Click Here (http://corporate.rg3entertainment.com/work/DO/rustSucks_rev1.html)
Capitlized "I" in the tagline.
Made the tagline black (I wasn't sure if you wanted the entire logo black text, or just the tagline, so I just made the tagline black for now).
Reduced all Black Underlays' transparency from 50% to 35%
Corrected Spelling in first button's URL (Sorry  )
Changed "GALVANIZE IT" text to #8F8D8D [NOTE - This is kind of dark, especially with the reduced transparency. I recommend a lighter color. The original was a light "brushed steel" that can appear white, I suppose. I can create a darker brushed steel look that gives the appropriate contrast. I've left it with the requested color for now for your consideration).
Added a loadbar.

My final note is what exactly you would like as the static snapshot for the non-animated pages. Would you like simply the banner, or would you like the banner and logo, or the entire thing and you can cut it up yourself?

Please review these changes and get back to me with any further information!

Thanks again!

You are right about that GALVANIZE IT! color. If you could create a darker brushed steel look, that would be great. If the contrast works for you that would be great, if not you could go back to the first example. All of the other edits look great!

In regards to the static banner: I like the look of the screw and that quote, and was thinking about just having that along with the logo, and upper-nav. Like where the animation stops after the first time through. It can be in Flash, or if you want to do images that would be ok too. We just still would like the upper-nav roll-overs to work. If you have any questions, please let me know.

What about linking the navigation links?

Also -

After looking at it again after I sent that last post, For the static header: I like the way everything flies in and would like that to be the banner for the other pages. Just stop after the first quote and bolt image, but the fly in of the text, bolt and nav bar I really like.

Sorry if I confused you!

Sure thing, I think I got it. So for the static header, you want everything to appear the same way (same flash), but just stop after it's all loaded and not go through the slideshow.

I'll get the contrast for the "GALVANIZE IT!" done.

Also, I'll need the urls for the navbar to make them active.

I'll try to get everything done by tonight.

Thanks again!

Alrighty!

Here are the semi final revisions :) :

Normal: Click Here (http://corporate.rg3entertainment.com/work/DO/rustSucks_rev2.html)
Static: Click Here (http://corporate.rg3entertainment.com/work/DO/rustSucks_rev2_static.html)

- I made a lighter GALVANIZE IT! brushed steel texture (I also added an extra sparkle ;) )
- I activated all the URLS for the buttons.
- Also, I programmed an extra script that will first check to see if the movie is already loaded into the computer (either through super-fast connection, or through the computers cache) and if so, will directly go to the animation, and if it's still loading, then it will show the loading bar. This will help for people navigating through your site, so they won't see the loading bar everytime, since it would have already been loaded previously.

Let me know if you see/want anything changed, and if not then give me the word and I will PM you the URL with a zip file to download the swf's and html source code :)

Thanks again,
Rege

The static flash file is taking a really really long time to load. Not sure why...would you mind investigating.

The edits look great. Thanks so much for your design.

I still want to see the static file. I also forgot to mention, one possible edit may or may not need to be made. If you didn't already, could you please turn off the intro sound on the static Flash header.

Thanks so much!

Hi AGA,

Sorry about the static not loading. There was a misspelling in my HTML that only affected Internet Explorer (a capital "S" when it shouldhave been lower case). It's fixed now, click on the links above to see the final products.

I removed the startup intro sound in the static flash, bt kept the buttons clicking (I just guessed this was correct).

I've also sent you a PM with the link to the final files zipped up and ready for your site! :)

Thanks again for choosing my design, and if you see anything else that needs to be changed, just let me know! :)

Hello -

When you have a moment, could you please redsend another PM with all of that information. I had some logging in problems this morning with Design Outpost and they needed to reset my entire account. So it deleted the PM.

Thanks so much for everything!

AGA had problems logging in, aga2sanke2sanke was a replacement for him for a few moments. He needs a link to his finial files, it was deleted with the account. If you could please send it as soon as possible that would be GREAT. If there are any questions please let me know.

AGA please post when you receive finial files, and they look ok. Then the designer will be paid. It was nice talking with you, take care.
Thank you for useing Design Outpost.
