Hi,
I've filled out the whole blurb below, which hopefully will give you all a good indication of what we're looking for. If there are any questions, just ask.
Thanks
Darren
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
IMBT Software
What type of product or service do you offer?
We're a small software design company, focusing primarily on writing tools: word processors for creative writers and academic users. The logo does not need to reflect the type of software we design. We'd prefer a generic logo in case the focus of the company ever changes.
Our web-site is http://www.imbt.co.uk
How long have you been in business?
Startup
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Basically a generic logo that reflects what we stand for - Simplicity, style, nothing to offend the eye.
What are your long term goals?
To design commonly used software applications better than the multi nationals. To design software like Apple designed the iPod - for style rather than functionality.
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
The primary target audience of our first product is creative writers. Our second product, due out next year will be aimed at academic writers.
Who would you like to add to your audience?
People who have had enough of feature heavy, boring, difficult to use Microsoft software.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
The logo design we're looking for is simple and stylish. Looking at some of the examples spread around the site, I'd like to avoid logos with straight lines, sharp angles and large "in your face" logos. Keep it simple but elegant.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Possibly green or yellow(ochre), but I'm not tied to either. The only reason being they feature in the design elements of our first product.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
No.
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Style and simplicity, because this is how we design our software, and reflects the message we are trying to present.
What is your tagline or slogan?
None.
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
That complexity and an abundance of features are over rated. That simple and elegant is more important than big and impersonal.
Where will your new logo be used?
Web-site.
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Not interested.
List competitive URLs if possible
What sets you apart from your competitors?
We design specifically for small target groups rather than generically for everyone. We design for ease of use rather than abundance of functionality.
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Style matters.
