I need a logo for my new company, "LynchPin Remodeling, Inc." It should have the name of the company and some kind of simple, stylish pin. A "linchpin" is basically a pin with a ring on one end (photos can be found by googling "lynchpin"). I don't want it to look too corporate. I am going to use the logo on a sign for my truck, on business cards, and on invoices.

Excellent first stab at it, RedEye.
My first impression is that it makes my company seem more
straightforward and business-y than my conception of what
I do. I am a one man operation that takes pride in good
communications and exceeding my client's expectations
in the small details. I'm a friendly face. I'm less
concerned with making a lot of money than I am with doing
work that I can be proud of. I do small projects and I like
to think I do them very well.
I like the use of the linchpin -- that part of it is basically
what I had in mind. But the font for the name and it's
layout should be friendlier somehow. The name is a little
bit on the "cute" side (my last name is Lynch, if that wasn't
obvious), and I think that might as well be played with in
the logo. Perhaps the linchpin can be made into the letter
"P" in LynchPin, or the letter "i". I don't want to get
really cutesy, but I also don't want it to look like I show up
with a bunch of big tools and start demolishing things...
Hope this helps.

Hey there! Thanks for the feedback.
The next 2 versions I wanted to emphasize the fact that the "Lynch" doubles as your name so I made it a different font, kind of like a signature.
Let me know what you think! Thanks,

Well, ok, but I think that's a step in the wrong direction.
The fonts now look like I'm running a cleaning service
in the 1950's. The second one looks oddly like the
brand logo for Lysol disinfectant. Bad.
I'm not sure I really like having the "Lynch" and "Pin"
in different fonts. They should go together more like
the first effort.
But I do kind of like the "pin" being used as the letter "i"...
For font suggestions, something along the lines of the fonts
you see on the arts and crafts movement furniture, or
on a Frank Lloyd Wright book. Not that font exactly, but
something more like that. "Desdemona" font on my
MS Word is kind of what I'm thinking...

This font has similar characteristics to the one you mentioned and also shares similar thickness in linewidth to the pin graphic. They look like they fit together on purpose.

That's probably the best one so far, and yet it still
doesn't grab me. It's very good though. Is it
possible to make the "Remodeling, Inc" take up
the same length of space as the "LynchPin" above
it? So that they are even?
I feel like the ring around the pin (that is the letter
"I") is maybe too big or awkward. What about making
the pin even more stylized or abstract or something.
I don't know what to say here. I know you've put a
lot of time into it already, but how about something
radically different?
Any other designers out there want to take a stab at
it? I'd really like a few different ideas to choose from...

Do you have a deadline in mind for this project that I can add to the title?

I didn't initially, but let's say Spet. 30. Thanks.

hi
here is my entry, simple and clean.. i tried to integrate pin in the letter p as you suggested earlier and it looks like pretty interesting place for it... also i tried to stay away from picturing the actual pin very realistically and kept it to a symbol stage
i will appreciate your feedback
kind regards

I don't know why, but I never got an email notification of
Bojan's post, so I'm seeing it for the first time today (I
thought all the designers had given up on my project...)
Bojan -- I really like your entry. The pin is very stylish,
but maybe too much so. It's hard to tell that it's a pin...
And the spacing between the letters doesn't seem even.
The font is a little dull and austere...
Care to give it another shot?
I'm going to ask for an extension on the due date since I
didn't know this post was here until just today...
thanks for your entry!

Looks great, Bojan! I really like the pin now.
The "Remodeling, Inc." is maybe a little small.
And I'm not crazy about the seraphs on the font.
What about something without all capital letters?
i.e., LynchPin (with the pin that you made for the
"P")?
Thanks -- it's very close to what I had in mind!

Thank you to RedEye and Bojan for their submissions.
I've decided to go with Bojan, and specifically the
penultimate design with the lower case letters
(post #177578). This thread can be moved to revisions,
but I don't think I'll be requiring any revisions.
Thanks again.

Hi Bojan,
I guess no revisions are necessary. I can't think of how your
design could be improved. I'm not sure how I download
the files, but I guess we're ready for that step.
thanks again,
John
