(Admin code added by Palmer - 4D951672ME750852R, 2PW54053UR767354Y ($25))

I need a logo for my new business. The business name is Choice Power Chairs, and the business sells power wheelchairs primarily to older people with limited mobility.

I would like to limit the logo to two colors. I prefer red and blue but am open to other colors. I would like a logo that can be used on business cards, letterhead, and postcards.

I am offering $125. The deadline is Monday, October 10.

Thanks.
Jeff Joyner

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Choice Power Chairs

What type of product or service do you offer?
Powered (motorized) wheelchairs

How long have you been in business?
1 year

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
I am looking for a logo that can be used on postcards, letters, shirts, delivery vehicle, etc., that will graphically convey the fact that my company provides power wheelchairs

What are your long term goals?
The majority of my clients will be elderly people who are having trouble getting around -- around their house, their yard, their neighborhood, and community. My goal is to help these people increase the quality of their life by improving their mobility, allowing them to get out and do things and see people that they could not otherwise.

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
My primary audience is 65 – 80 years old, not very internet savvy.

Who would you like to add to your audience? In addition to my audience, I would like to add their children and caregivers, who can help my target audience understand the advantage of having a power wheelchair for their mobility.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
I’m totally open. Simple is good. I only have one that has been submitted. It looks ok, but it has a picture of a manual wheelchair. I don’t provide those. I have power wheelchairs. I have an extremely basic website, www.choicepowerchairs.com that has a picture of the power wheelchair that I sell.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?) Totally open to any color.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo? I would like to see a picture or drawing that shows a power wheelchair, and something that indicates some movement would be great.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
The business is simple. At this point, it is only power wheelchairs and lift chairs. I would like the logo to help establish awareness of my business.

What is your tagline or slogan? Helping Clients Regain Independence

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Having trouble getting around? I can help you regain your indepence, usually with little or no out of pocket expense.

This is a great product and service. For many of my clients, this power wheelchair will immediately improve the quality of their life, and in many cases help them avoid or delay moving from their home into an assisted living community or nursing home.

Where will your new logo be used? Postcards, letters, information boxes, shirts, delivery vehicle

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
www.thescooterstore.com, www.1800wheelchair.com,
Invacare http://www.invacare.com/cgi-bin/imhqprd/inv_catalog/prod_cat.jsp?s=0&prodOID=null&catOID=-536885240

I like The Scooter Store’s logo. They are emphasizing scooters, while I am emphasizing power wheelchairs. I like the fact that their logo shows some movement.

List competitive URLs if possible Done – Listed above. Many many more by doing a search on power wheelchairs.

What sets you apart from your competitors? Local service. My company will sell and service within a 2 hour radius of my office. We will be able to personally visit our clients to make sure we are getting them the right product, suggest changes on furniture layout, handicap ramps, etc. We will personally deliver the assembled product, train the person on how to use it, and provide any repairs needed, along with service loaners if necessary.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company: Helping elderly clients regain their mobility and independence.

Hi Jeff and welcome to Design Outpost,

Can you please have a look at our Logo Design Assessment, and give the team as much of the information from those questions as you can? Here is the assessment: http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7819

Thanks so much!

I like the logo. My product is powered (motorized) wheelchairs, not manual wheelchairs. Also, a drawing instead of a picture would be fine. The actual product I use is a Merits wheelchair, which can be found at http://www.meritshealth.com/?c=Catalog&pk=1001

I have posted more information in the questionaire that has now been posted. Thanks for your work so far.

Jeffjoyner, here is my concept for your Choice Power Chairs logo.

Nathan, I like it. I really like using the O in Choice for the wheel. The chair is just a bit abstract for my target audience of 60 - 80 year olds. I would like the chair to be just a bit more obvious. Colors are good. Thanks.

Nathan, I really like Version 2. The chair is certainly easier to see. Take a look at some of the power chairs at the links I posted in the questionaire. Would it be possible to use the second C in Choice as a front wheel? Also, the joystick control in Version 1 was good, maybe you could put one on Version 2? I like the overall look very much. Thanks for your efforts.

Jeffjoyner, First let me please thank you for all the input its very helpful, and now here is another concept with the second C in Choice as a front wheel, And the joystick control added back to the chair. I also used the chair from your site on the homepage

Nathan, the latest design is definitely my favorite so far. The only other suggestions I have would be any thing you could add to the edge of the design to indicate movement and something (I don't know exactly what to ask for) that would give the chair a bit more detail instead of being one mass of color. Maybe an outline of the chair back and seat, or something. Regarding the movement, maybe faint tiretracks behind the chair, or some kinds of lines to show movement. Overall design is great. I'll be away this weekend. I will try and comment on any changes Sunday evening or Monday morning. Thanks for what you've done.

The idea behind this composition is the subtle form of a chair, thus giving you a stable ground for marketing and promoting various products.

Nathan, this latest version is looking great. It is almost exactly what I am looking for. I really like the new lines in the chair. My only other suggestion / requests would be a) maybe small faint curving tire tracks behind the chair to imply movement, and I just realized that the chair only has one arm, where there should be two. Would adding an arm to the other side of the chair make it too busy looking, or not. Anyway, this is my favorite so far. Thanks.

Jeffjoyner
10-09-2005, 04:50 PM
Titania, I like the red circle with chair in your top design, and I prefer the lettering in the bottom design. Looks good, and I like the way the C has lines indicating movement. I think the logo would look better if the chair was larger and more prominent. Thanks.

Jeffjoyner
10-09-2005, 04:51 PM
Titania, also my company name is spelled Choice, not Choise. Thanks.

Jeffjoyner
10-09-2005, 04:53 PM
Caroline, I like the lettering, and it's a great looking wheel. My target audience is 60 - 80 years old, however, and I would really like them to see a power wheel chair in the logo. Thanks.

Jeffjoyner
10-09-2005, 04:56 PM
Galin, I really like the design, and I agree that it could give me flexibility in marketing future products. Right now, with the power wheelchair being my primary product, and the fact that my clients are elderly, I would prefer a design that is slightly less abstract. Thanks.

Nathan,
This design is looking better and better. Could I suggest one more change? Would it be possible to move the lines that are under the back tires to be behind the front tires, and then have a little more noticeable tire tracks behind the back tires? It would be fine if they even extended slightly past the beginning of Choice. Otherwise, I have no other suggestions, and thank you for being so responsive to the requests I've made. As I said before, at this point, this is my favorite design. Thanks.

Galin,
Thanks for your design. I really like design #1. I think it would be more effective for me if the wheelchair drawing showed wheels, a joystick on one of the arm rests, and some type of tiretracks curving from behind the chair to give it a feeling of movement. Also, I would be inclined to change the color of Choice to a royal blue. Thanks.

Galin,
I messed up. With your design one already having a blue chair and mostly blue lettering, I think I would prefer Choice being in red. Thanks again.

Galin,
I love your latest design. My only request would be that the wheels need to be a little smaller (they actually are under a power wheelchair, about 7 inches high), and it would be great if it showed a footrest at the base of the chair since it is a front view. I absolutely love the curved lines behind the chair. Great design. Thanks.

Jeffjoyner

Nathan,
Your design #7 is great. It looks really good. The curved lines under the tires are still a little bit too faint. I think more noticeable movement lines would be nice. Thanks.

Titania,
Thanks for making the change. I apologize, I should have pointed out that Chairs needs an s. The wheelchair diagram looks better being larger. Also, I am finding myself more drawn to the red and blue designs. Thanks.

Jeffjoyner
10-11-2005, 05:27 PM
Bill, thanks for submitting a design. I like the wheelchair, but it is too dark. I would prefer something lighter and more colorful. Also, I would prefer Choice to be a little smaller. I really like the fact that you included my tagline Helping Clients Regain Independence. As far as colors go, I really like the red and blue logos that I've seen. Thanks.

Jeffjoyner
10-11-2005, 05:35 PM
Djaka, you are not too late at all. I have not selected the design yet, and have extended the deadline thru Friday. I like your design very much. In fact, it's simplicity really appeals to me. My clients, however, are 60 - 80 years old. Therefore, while I personally like abstract designs, I prefer the designs that are being submitted with drawings that make it immediately obvious that my product is a motorized powered wheelchair. Joysticks are good, tire tracks, or wisps of wind, or something behind the chair to indicate movement are all helpful. Red and blue work great for me, although I am open to most colors. A picture of the wheelchair is on my very primitive website, www.choicepowerchairs.com. Wheels should be relatively small, under the wheelchair, instead of the very large wheels that would be on a manual wheelchair. Also, the wheelchair has a footrest. The depiction of the wheelchair can be cartoonish or closely resemble the picture, as long as it is obvious to my clients what business I am in. Thanks for submitting.

Another design,
I hope the message clear enough. The colour more attactive, so the user of the chair will feel moving independently again. The typo is meant to be powerful and strong but yet clean. The overall logo is made simple so the potential client will find it easy to remember and recognize.

Djaka,
This is one of the most unique designs I've seen. Very creative, and your description is quite accurate. Personally, it's one of my favorites. I have to think about whether it is too abstract for my client base. The one suggestion I have would be to change the colors to some combination of blue and red. Thanks.

djaka
10-12-2005, 05:29 PM
This is the colour revision I made. I put a little darker colours to have the feel of more mature and establish. The company name colour in red besides of all blue elements, will put it more easy to remember.

Message to all designers:
First of all, thanks very much to all who have taken their time to submit designs. At this point, I have still not chosen a design, but would like to give everyone an idea of what I like best so far. Of all designs submitted, the three I like best so far are NFRANK's Versions 7 & 8, Galin's Version 2B, and Djaka's Version 2. All three show movement, which is important to me, and all three obviously depict a motorized power wheelchair. In general, blue and red logos have appealed to me more, yet one of these 3 favorite designs looks better in other colors.
Incorporating the phrase Helping Client Regain Indepence is interesting, although if included, I would want it to be in a smaller font than the Choice Power Chairs. Anything else that indicates movement is welcome, such as faint curving tire tracks behind the wheels, etc.

Thank you all again for all of your effors, and I look forward to picking a design tomorrow.
Jeff

Galin, thanks for the changes. This definitely improves your design, and again makes it one of my favorites. I like your last design best. I would recommend centering the tagline and making the font on the tagline one size larger. Paula, it looks great. My only question is did you slightly change the color of the tagline, or just make it a little darker. I would like it to be the same color of the curved line above Choice Power Chairs. I do like it being bolder, as you have made it. Otherwise, no changes. Thanks. Looks great.
