What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
SharpScapes

What type of product or service do you offer?
Lawn Maintenance & Landscaping. Plan on expanding to pools, hardscapes, irrigation, decks, anything and everything outside.

How long have you been in business?
Ive been in business for 14 years, been semi serious for 3 going extremely serious this coming year.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
A long lasting symbol to be easily recognized and one that i can take with me as long as i am expanding to different areas of the country and different types of work. And of course one that people think is attractive and cool enough to leave the company they are with ;)

What are your long term goals?
Unrealistic haha :P my goal for this coming year is to gross 250k and i will go from there. i definately think big.

Audience Profile:

Please describe your existing audience:
My current customer base is a few commercial, and many residential homes from the 80 - 300k range. mainly anyone who would rather not take care of their own yard or is unable to.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
everyone, i have no desire to attract only high end customers or only middle or low. i am happy to do work for anyone who is interested. as long as they enjoy paying ontime :D but if they dont thats my problem not the logos :cool:

What type of logo would you like?
I would like a symbol that is not related to my type of business, nothing like a shovel or lawn mower, i havent ever seen anything like that done here so im not to worried about that. I am also only 24 so im not into the old fashioned designs, i am a contemporary type, like new and flashy things.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
i was thinking of blue, silver/grey, and black. blue and silver/grey are my 2 favorite colors, and i think they go great together, the black was because i dont like just 2 color logos, and was thinking it might be a good color for accents or shadow or something. but i am still up to any color ideas any of you may have.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
No - not specifically but do like 'hi tech' - I like the style/look of these:

i am changing company name to sharpscapes, im still going by the old name, so im open to any other ideas if somthing pops into your head.

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
that we do excellant work.

Where will your new logo be used?
Everywhere. website, trucks, letterhead, business cards, yellowpage ads, and everything else.

Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
all local people at the moment, but they either dont have one or they look like something out of a young kids cartoon. cheesy...

What sets you apart from your competitors?
the fact that i research alot before i attempt projects and that i am interested in providing the highest quality work, not just to get my money and leave, i actually get a great enjoyment from making homes and businesses look better than they did before.

OK. Now that the questions are finished ill go ahead and add a little bit. like i said before im looking for a symbol, i dont have any real ideas, just not a flower or a lawn mower or anything like that, just some sort of cool contemporary design that i can take with me as i expand. i was planning on a blue silver/grey and black deisgn, im not sure if thats exactly what i want if you want to through out another color scheme, go for it, ill let you know if i like it or not, i will be on pretty frequently so feedback will be given quickly. i need this finished by oct 14th and the winner will take the $300. i hope i didnt leave any vital info out of this post. I was thinking i would like the logo with the name under the logo, i think thats pretty common and then quite a bit smaller under the name would be the slogan, ive been looking at the other logos and the chrome looks really good, wouldnt mind seeing some ideas with that in it.

Jason, thank you very much for being the first to post a logo for my project!!! i really appreciate it. the design is to bold for my taste, from your designs, i REALLY like the font from the sytemsum logo. the colors from your design are a little to dark for my taste, i dont know if this makes sense or not but maybe a blue thats comparable to the green in the estate grounds maint logo from above. i lighter colored blue and a lighter grey, and as far as the colors i suggested, i didnt want the black to be a major part of the logo just more of a supporting color to help the others stand out a little bit more if needed. in the SS thee doesnt seem to be enough going on there for me, its too simple. maybe if you were to make it thinner and more sharp and maybe through it inside of something else. thats all that comes to mind at the moment i hope thats enough feedback to give you the answers you needed.

DESIGNERS: Just to reiterate, I really really like the logo for Estate Grounds Maintenance. You can see that at http://www.egmfl.com. While I am not looking for the green, and more am after blues/silvers, I love that its "sharp" - both for the icon and the font. :cool:

I'm at my office so I didn't have much time to get my thoughts out, fonts are hard to come by and the monitor is a cheap flat panel that I'm lucky to be able to tell the difference between blue and red (yes, it's that bad ;) ).

Hi Lance,

Here's my idea. An icon that clearly states the nature of your business, inspired by a YinYang symbol, to give natural balance . Circular shape, yet sharp. Two leaves that form into initial letter "S" (at the middle). Font that is elegant and corporate, my aim is to give an easy to read font that matches the style of the icon.
Lastly, colors used are those you prefered.

#13 Ruairi - I think its pretty neat, i was going to see if you could maybe squish the logo a little bit and add maybe a black line to the edges to make it stand out a little more. i dont think it would be to noticable on a white truck.

designers if i was to need to pick right now i would be leaning torwards #21, #34, and #36. now they are all pretty clean designs in my opinion they still dont stand out and look as cool, sharp, and eye catching as i would like. if anyone has anymore ideas please show me. :D

could you center the sharpscapes with the logo mark so raise it up a tad, and also do one with it raise up to the top of the mark and under it in a smaller font add Keep Your Home Looking Sharp, so that it is the same size as the logo mark, and do the bottom in all grey. thank you pracus!! :yes:
