Hi,
I am brand new at this so I'm treading lightly. I plan on using this service regularly once I get more comfortable with it so please bear with me.
I'm looking for a CD label.
The CD will hold the entire database of U.S. businesses.
The title is "Complete Business Database"
(who said I'm not creative?)
I would like that title laid over a photo image of people from all different professions (i.e. a doctor, a plumber, construction worker, lawyer :) etc (no Village People feel ).
I understand the image and/or fonts might be extra $$ and I will be adding contact info and minor text for the perimeter within a day or two but I thought you could get started with this info.
I will be printing the labels myself from my PC to an HP printer that prints directly on to CDs (so JPEG or something basic). The higher the resolution the better (not low resolution web quality .
I'm sure I'm leaving out a lot but at least this gets the ball rolling.
Feel free to let me know what other info you need.
Thanks
Chris

Hi ... is there any more text to put on the CD apart from the title ?!
Do you have a deadline ?!

Hi,
The addtional text (can be much smaller than the title) is
Over 12 million U.S. Businesses
Unlimited Downloads
Simple Search Function
around the perimeter it should say
copyright (or the c in the circle) 2005/2006 Complete Databases, Inc. info@completedatabases.com
Hope this helps

Hi, should the design in square? so, when you print it, there will be no white area (mostly happen if we make it round)..
do you think 150 dpi will be enough? or 300dpi?
thanks!

I love it.
Is there any chance of replacing the larger picture of a female with a (female) business owner looking type. She looks like a student to me.
Also, could you change "Version 1.0" To Disc 1
AF Search Software
Also, do you have concerns about it printing with a white ring around it. I was not aware of the problem but one of the threads mentioned it.

:)
Square is ok as long as I'll be able to print directly on to a CD.
I'd like 300 dpi
Thanks

I don't forsee a problem as long as it is placed properly within the application from which you will be printing. The design has bleeds built into it and it can be delivered with or without the hole in the center. As long as you let the bleed run over the edge in your application, as it is intended, you shouldn't have a problem with a "white ring" around the edge. Just my 2¢. If you have problems with the set up I'm sure we can find a way to help you. ;)
I'll make your changes and get that posted ASAP.

Hello,
Here's my proposal.
Maybe the pictures aren't the good one or maybe the color isn't the right one.
If you like the layout, I will be happy to do the revisions required.
Regards,
Caroline

We are declaring Bogglins (Message #9) the Winner.
I know this submission did not follow our guidelines exactly but it is the choice agreed on by all 3 decision makers here.
Thanks to everyone for participating. We thought all the submissions were excellent. Please watch for future postings.

hi.. thanks for choosing my design.
here i post the square version of the design, mostly people like this version so to avoid the white/blank area around the inner/outer part of cd label...

Hi,
Here are some changes:
Under (or next to) "Disc 1" it should say "AF Search Software". This could be in the same bubble as "Disc 1"
Please change "info@completedatabases.com" to "www.completedatabases.com"
We would like the source files (i.e. photoshop) AND the printable files (i.e. tif files)
Can I have it both round and square?
Thanks again.

Hi,
Here is the revision..
Regarding the source file, here I copied what Design Outpost said:
--------------------------------------------
NOTE: Print jobs will be supplied with all text converted to outlines. Editable files may be purchased by contacting the designer who completed your project. Rates will vary depending on the designer. Fonts are NEVER included in the price of work at Design Outpost. Fonts must be purchased separately.
--------------------------------------------
You can contact any of the moderator here at Design Outpost or perhaps you can call Abby (the administration staff) for help.
Thanks!

Do you want this in two version? Disc 1 and Disc 2 ? Any more revision?
Thanks!

No. I don't need any more revisions. I need the source files! Design Outpost has no problem with you giving them to me. What do you want? More money? I would like to use your services for other designs but if you cannot provide me with the source files I will have to find another designer to work with.
Thanks!

hi chris,
great if there's no more revision needed.. :)
-no i don't need any more money...
..we all the designers here at design outpost have to follow the rules/terms.. because that is stated clearly at this link: http://www.designoutpost.com/pricelist.htm
i've contacted abby about this issue.. i myself have no problem in giving you the source file though.. :) because in my opinion, editable file is what you need.. or it will be useless..
i'll send it to you now.. please let me know your email address for me to send the file.
thanks! ;)

-pieter

hi chris.. what do you mean with cannot open?
...you can't open or you can't download the files?
you have to download all the files first before you can open it.. and it will need a zip utility such WinZip to open the Zip files...
there're 2 Zip files i sent to you.. the first one is the fonts and the other one is the design file (but you'll need to put the complete-Splitted.zip, complete-Splitted.z01, complete-Splitted.z02 & complete-Splitted.z03 into the same folder/directory)
please let me know..
thanks...

My web designer can not get your files to work despite his best efforts using winzip and following your advise. Instead, please upload your files via FTP using the following FTP settings:
ftp.howtocpanel.com
login: howtocpa
pass: gateway
download directory: "download"
Please upload ALL the source files and fonts required.

i'm trying to upload the files at the moment... into the "downloads" folder.. thanks!
-btw, the files was saved using adobe photoshop cs2 .. i'm sure that you got that version too..

Can you FTP back into the folder and look at the file sizes that are there? They look too small to be correct? Please verify the file size are correct.
Thanks

I download the zip files and again a message came up that said ERROR. Can you first try re uploading it. If that fails could you use our DHL account and send it via CD Rom?
Thanks

I was able to successfully unzip the files that you emailed me (Thank you!). The problem is I'm missing the tif file of the completed graphic that I can take to the printer. I have the source files which I need for minor future changes but I also need a completed single graphic (ie, TIF file). Can you please email that asap.
Thanks

Can you please provide your phone number and a good time we can speak by phone? We would like to do a web conference using gotomeeting.com as we speak on the phone with some additional questions. It won't take much time.
Thank you.

Hi Pieter,
Here's an update.
We are unable to work with the files. We are trying to contact our 2nd choice and buy his design also. It is our hope that he will be able to show us how to manipulate not just his files but yours as well...
Meanwhile, could you make the following slight adjustments because we are unable to make them?
Could you move the title Complete Business Database UP 1/16 of an inch? And could you move "Over 12 Million U.S. Businesses" etc. DOWN 1/16 of an inch. And could you remove the s from www.completedatabases.com so that it is www.completedatabase.com (it doesn't fit the way it is)
Also, please make a Disc 2 and instead of AF Search Software, please have it say Business Database?
I have added $25.00 to pay you for your time. Is there any way you can size it for a standard 4.5 inch CD so I don't have to reduce it?
Thanks
Chris
