I'm a pediatric dentist looking for someone to design a business card for me. The office theme is an ocean theme. I'm thinking of cartoon sea creatures consisting of two fish, one octopus, one lobster, one crab, one clam, one seastar and one seahorse. I would like the octopus to hold a toothbrush, lobster to be holding an x-ray of a tooth, the crab holding some floss and a floss container nearby, the seastar with braces, the clam sitting on a tube of toothpaste, and one of the fish holding a mouth mirror. Would prefer that the two fish are "bookends" with my name and practice in the middle of the two fish. Would like the other characters spaced out around the card. Would like to have my name in "Puppylike" font, "pediatric and laser dentistry" in "comic sans ms" font and other general information in "garamond" font. Am thinking of a light teal as main color of card. Would gladly welcome other ideas. Thanks for your time.

Hi MOZ or do you prefer Mark? In actuality I have designed the card from cartoons that I have pulled off the internet. However I want to make sure that if I am going to go ahead with my card I just didn't want to infringe on any copyrights. Can you create unique characters to take the place of the ones I pulled off the internet? It might be a fairly quick and easy project. I also just wanted to put on the backside a map of where the office is located. Thanks if you can help

Actually I'm so new to this website I'm trying to figure it out. I came across the prototype that you designed. I'm very intrigued by the characters. Is there anyway to have one of the fish hold a dental mouth mirror? Is it also possible to have some of the images with a smile or some showing there teeth like a "grin". Hi Agustin, I see your design, not bad. But I might be thinking more of characters that look more whimsical and appeal to children. To me the characters look more appealing to infants. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this right. They look more cuddly than amusing. Does that make sense? Anyways that was my first impression. Thanks, Walden

Hi Titania,
Your first draft was close to what I'm looking for. I see that smiles were added. But something now looks out of place. I actually may have to take it back and say that they looked better with no "smiles" on their faces. I guess teeth on them didn't turn out as I had hoped. Can you make the braces on the starfish seem more like braces. Also could you make the toothbrush larger and the mouth mirror larger and the head more roundish than profile. Could you spread the characters out more so they don't bunch up in the middle. Is there anyway to make the toothpaste white and with a little bit of a longer "squirt"? I'm wondering if you could come up with a seahorse that will eventually sit between the phone and fax number, ie "phone number" "seahorse" "fax number". And lastly just a little bit darker on the background with a hint of green. I know this is a lot but your awfully close unless the other designers have characters that are just as appealing. I see you changed or emphasized their expressions. No fault of your own but the characters I'm seeing are not what I'm envisioning. Can you come up with different shaped characters...one's that aren't so "plump"? Thanks, Walden

Hi Titania,
I see the changes that you made. I actually liked the octupus when it had a "cone" head. Could you leave hiim at the very top and switch places with where my name would go? How about making the mirrors full circle like so "O" . Could the two bookend fishes be inverted so that they face inward toward my name? The "teeth" didn't work out so great...what about smiles? Can we curve horizontal line on the starfish so that they follow the same curve as the braces? I actually prefer that the fish remain larger than the other characters as I see in the second version. I kind of like them small. I do like the background with the "wave" effect. Any way to make the seahorse a little bit more plump? Can you think of any other item that symbolizes dentistry that one of the fish could be holding instead of a mirror (of cousre anything non-threatening). Hi Titania,
I'm liking the design a lot. Let me see if I can clarify on the starfish. For the starfish, it has braces on, the braces on top and bottom make an arch ie "U" Is it possible to make the black line that is between the braces to also curve. Also if you could move the starfish to the lower right and switch places with the crab. I noticed that the toothbrush held by the octupus has blue bristles and it's kind of blending into the background...could we try different color bristles ie red and also make the toothbrush bigger? Hmmm, I'm curious to see what a red seahorse might look like with the yellow fins, can we try that? Lastly can we move where my name will go and the two fish up a little. I'd rather my name be off-center rather than centered. I think this is near the end and it's really starting to look great. Thanks again for the time and effort you put into this. Are you able to design the back of the card with directions to the office? I'll increase the compensation of course. Also I might have other projects with this design if your interested. Hi Titania,
The toothbrush looks better. One thing I forgot to mention, can you make the mirror heads lighter. Ok, I was wrong about a red seahorse, can you go back to the orginal color. Lastly, for the starfish, something still doesn't look right. Can you just remove the middle line? Other than filling in the lines for my name and other information that would be it. Have you considered about continuing with more projects along this theme? Thanks, Walden

Hi Titania,
Card looks great!!!. Ok where do we go from here, do you need all the general information from me to complete the card, ie name, address etc. to complete the card? For name could you put down "Walden Yu, DDS., Inc." For address put down "11491 Jefferson Blvd, Culver City, CA 90230" Email hasn't been established yet. The phone numbers will be temporary and will change later "310/384-8447" Fax hasn't been established yet. Just below "pediatric and laser dentistry" and just above the seahorse can you fit in "infants, children and adolescents". If you could use the same font as you have for the phone number. Will it really matter much to change or add on fax number or to change the phone number later? Thanks, Walden

I forgot something...on the starfish I want to make them seem more like braces. If you could alternately remove a bracket and fill it back in with white color again. I think it will look more like braces if the black brackets (the black squares) are more periodic than looking continuous. Thanks, Walden

Hi Titania,
The card is coming together each time I see it. Your doing a great job!!!. I'm wondering if you could use capital letters in my name for the "W", "Y", and "I" in the "inc" Also if we could change the "D" in my name to a lower case "d". I also erred in the DDS it should read "D.D.S.," For the pediatric and laser dentistry could we capitalize the "P", "L" and "D". For the phone number can we switch to "(310)" instead of "310/" I would like to consider using one of the fish on an advertising bilboard at my building would there be any problem with that? If that's ok, could we have the left side fish hold another toothbrush instead of the mirror. All I'm considering for the bilboard is the fish holding a toothbrush and then it would read "Pediatric and Laser Dentistry". Oh and the braces look more like braces. Could we just lower the top braces so that more white is shown above the braces? I look forward to seeing the latest update. Hope you have been enjoying the holiday, Walden

Titania....love it!!!!. Looks great. Hey do you think I can try a blue toothbrush for the fish and a red one for the octupus...just curious about how it would look. Just one thing on the lettering can you make the "DDS" into a larger font so it matches the other capitalized letters? This all really eye catching. Such a fantastic job your doing. Thanks, Walden

Sorry about the delay in writing back. You know you were right in making black toothbrushes. Could you change both toothbrushes to black again? Also could you make the seahorse a little bit smaller about 3/4's it's current size? Is it ok with you to also start working on the back of the card to give directions to my office? I'll be updating you on a fax number and possible website address later. How do I go about hiring you or contracting you out because I would like to submit the billboard design to have it made? Hi Titania,
I do like the black toothbrushes better and the seahorse looks the right size. Right now I'm waiting for telephone services to give me the proper telephone and fax number and I should have those in about a week. Is it possible to design the back of the card now. Probably something clean and simple showing the major freeways and cross streets. I could envision part of the card in blue to represent the pacfic ocean and possibly other landmarks such as LAX (Los Angeles International airport), Marina Del Rey, and Santa Monica. I have one question before I declare Titania as my project person. Can changes still be made to the front of the card even after Titania is declared as my project person? I'm waiting for verizon to come into my office and definitively give me my permanent telephone and fax numbers.
