Background: I had a logo designed in March here at Design Outpost for my Orthodontic practice. I am just about ready to open my office and I need to finalize my stationary.
Prize: $250.
Requirements: Stationary Package; letterhead, business card and #10 envelope.
Deadline: December 10th.
Profession: Orthodontist (braces, straightening teeth).
Image I want to portray: I am positioning myself in the community (and differentiating myself from my competition), as being a hip, fun, hi-tech orthodontic practice. When you walk into my reception room, you will see that it is not like most other medical/dental offices you have been to. The colors are very warm, bold, inviting, and fun. There is almost a Starbucks atmosphere, with a “hospitality” stand with fresh brewed coffee and juice, a counter with stools for two internet kiosks and a 42” plasma showing DVD’s. There is also a separate media room with game consoles (Xbox) and another plasma screen showing movies. This is the practice that the kids tell their friends about and the parents/adults rave about how inviting and friendly it is.
Format:
1. I would like the items in both CMYK and RGB.
2. File in layered .AI as well as JPG.
3. Two color for all items as well as grey scale and B&W for the envelope.
Feedback: I’ll be giving plenty :)
hello Dave, what's information should be in stationery?

I'm not sure if I am allowed to post my personal information before a designer is choosen. If I am let me know. Otherwise, I want my name (which is already part of my logo), address, phone and fax number. On the biz card and letterhead, it will also have my website address.
hello Dave, it's mine
if you have your personal information will help designer.
at least you give me fake information that similar for layout only... thanks

gig, thanks for the submission. It feels like the logo is floating out there all alone on the letterhead and envelope. Can you think of a way to make it appear more integrated in the overall design?

Thanks Gig. I think I liked your first version more. But I still feel that the logo element isn't tied or united to the design as a whole. I don't think this design is going in the right direction. If you have any other ideas I'd love to see them.
Hi David
Here´s an idea from me :)

A lot of great designs!
imot: At first I was confused about where you came up with the idea for the green ball, then I realized that it is the "head" on the letter "Y" :) I find it a little distracting though, like it's out of place and draws the focus of the eye to it. Same for the white circles. I don't think the direction of this this particular design is working. If you have any other ideas I'd love to see them.
Aaron: I really like the overall feel of the design, the way the elements are layed out. I"m not sure about the top (green) element though. Do you have any other ideas for that? Also, on the envelope I wonder if the side opening would be provide any challanges to the printer, especially an online printer?
Fran: I really like all of your designs.
1. The first one looks a bit Spartan though. Could you jazz it up a bit :) I The watermark might also be a tad strong.
2. This is an interesting design. Would the information text look out of place it was elsewhere on the page, either in the same block layout or in a line or other format?
3. I like this letterhead a lot. But I'm not sure that it works on the biz card. Also, could I see how it looks with the colors swapped, blue for the green?
djaka: Thanks for the playful design :) Something about the white dome at the top isn't working for me though. Otherwise I like the look of it.
kaimere: Mike, thanks for joining in. The design seems to be missing something, but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe a little more "oomph" or flair would work :)
Thanks everyone! Some great designs so far.

Here a few letterhead designs I like. Not that I want my design to look like these, but just to give you an idea of some designs that I do like.

Wow, this is hard! So many great designs to choose from.
djaka, thanks for that design, I like the die-cut look! I’m a little worried about printing costs with that though. My first thought is that the left side border is too wide, but I realize that if it’s narrower it would make it more difficult to put the logo elements in and keep them recognizable. But I don’t think the logo elements are working there anyway. How about something like this:
http://jdcarr.com/images/ortho2.jpg
I like a narrower border on the left and bottom with a bit of a curve on the left element, and with no die-cut for printing $$ reasons. How would that translate to the biz card and envelop? Can you riff on this design?
Fran, I really like all of your stuff here. I’m torn between Message #12 and #19. I’m leaning towards #19, but my only concern is how the margins would play out with the two “D” and “Y” elements. I’m a little worried that the text would feel cramped. What do you think?
cazeyman, thanks for joining! Your second design in message #24 zoned in on what I was looking for. I can tell that you took a look at the three examples I posted and used them to get a feel for what I wanted. I really dig that second one… I showed it my staff though and (darn them!), they just weren’t getting it. I’ve come to rely on their judgment and as much as it hurts me, I guess I’m going to have to go more “traditional” with my design.
Three more days left before I have to close this. As of now, I’m narrowing it down to djaka and Fran, but if anyone else has something they would like to throw in, feel free!

Fran, could you show me how a business letter would look with your letterhead (message #19)? I've attached a letter that is typical of one generated by the program I use for my letters. Keep the same margins that exist in this letter. Thanks!
Hello Dave, here's a business letter example. The margins should be set on 1" left and right :)
Thanks for your attention

Woops, sorry about the looooong delay in getting back. Things got crazy during my opening.
After much agonizing I am choosing djaka as the winner. Thanks to everyone that joined in and again, I apologize for the long delay.
Djaka, I would like to make some revisions which we can discuss once this is moved to the revision forum.

I like the overall look of the design in Message #26 but would like to see a few changes.
Letterhead
1. The patterns in the vertical green stripe aren't really recognizable as elements from my logo. I realize that is due to the small space that is available, but I was wondering if it would be possible to make the logo elements somehow more recognizable there? Perhaps if there was more space between the individual elements, or if the elements were smaller? I don't know, what do you think?
Envelope
1. I will need to check with my printer to see if a 4 sided bleed presents any difficulties. If so, we would need to change the design.
2. Same text in the blue footer as in the letterhead.
Business Card
1. I will have business cards for my other employees, so there needs to be enough space below the persons name for their job title. Example:
Mary Smith
Office Manager
Thanks Djaka!

Hi Dave,
This is the revision.
I use the logo shape as super graphics so it appears as a decorative element. IMHO, the Logo will still be recognizeable.
My tips for using home printer is we can print the item in bigger sized paper, and then cut the paper to the actual size. But I think it would be more easy and economical to use printing company (the result is better and more professional :)).
But if you would like to change the design to the printer size paper, it's OK. ;)
kind regards
djaka :)

Thanks Djaka, it's looking very good. I will not be printing them myself, I have a printing company that is doing all of my stationary.
My printer told me that in order to do a bleed on an envelope he can't print directly on the envlope, he has to print on oversized paper and then fold the paper into an envelope. That will be at least double the cost. I may still decide to do it, but can you also show me an envelope without any bleeds?
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,
this is the non bleed version, I hope the printer margin is right (are you using laser colour or inkjet printer?, some inkjet printer have bottom margin bigger than the top margin - I guess it is for the printer's mechanism in holding the paper).
I include 2 options.
If there is no revision needed, I will prepare the files of the stationary for printing purpose.
thank you
regards
:)

Djaka, I am working with a printing company. I am not printing them myself.
For the envelope (bottom one), move the logo up towards the top of the envleope. Also, show me a version with just the logo and the text.
Thanks,
Dave
