Hi,

I would like a business identity, two-sided full bleed business card, letterhead and envelope using the logo file(s) attached.

This is for a photography business, my website is:

http://nealjacob.com

I do portraits, weddings, and sports/event photography. Basically, anything you need photography for, I want to be your photographer! Recently, I was the photographer at a kid's birthday party that was taped for a TV show on the Bravo TV network.

I am just getting started in the business and have done some portraits and special events. I hope to do more weddings. You can see some of my work on my web page.

Information for identity:

Name: Neal Jacob
Company: Neal Jacob Photograpy
Address: PO Box 1744 Front Royal, VA 22630-1744
Phone number: 1-888-424-0911
Website: http://www.nealjacob.com
E-Mail: getmoreinfo@nealjacob.com

Anything else?

Hi Imot!

Thank you for being the first to jump in on this. I just got back from out of town and was checking my mail and there was your reply! :)

Given that I just literally walked in the door and just finished unpacking the car I am going to sleep (yes really! ;) ) on your submission.

Here are my initial thoughts:

Likes: I like the vertical business card idea, mainly because it is different. Everyone else has horizontal style cards and this would be different and make it stand out. One thing I just thought of with the vertical format. The cards won't work very well in business card holders, which are typically horizontal. Not that the vertical is bad, just thought that I would point that out.

Dislikes: Sorry, but the orange/rust color doesn't do it for me.

Hello everyone :)

Imot: Thank you for the color changes and I like the horizontal format.

Fabian: "Birthday Partys" should be "Birthday Parties." Also, the back side of the card looks brown, can you please make that more black?

Gig: I'm not really sold on the aperture idea, but I do like the side two of the card. Can you please make the "Neal Jacob" more of a gold and the background of "PHOTOGRAPHY" white?

TO EVERYONE:

I'm not completely sold on the "list of services", "Portraits, Weddings, Sports/Events, Birthday Parties" etc... Yes, I did say that I want it to be known that I will do all kinds of photography. In February, I will be attending a bridal show, so of course most people there will be looking for wedding photography, but also this business card is going to be what I will carry in my wallet, so of course I want someone I hand my card to to consider me for any type of photographic needs. I trust your instincts on this, after all, you are the professional designers! :)

Also, so far everyone seems to be doing the same thing with the "Neal Jacob" on the envelope and stationary. Do you see what I mean? With the "Neal Jacob" on the edge of the page? I would like to see some more concepts.

All of these are good entries! I can't wait to see what else Design Outpost can do! :)

Hi Neal,

Here is a new idea from me :)

Gig: I like your revision (Msg. #9), especially, the backside of the business card. Although, I the "Neal Jacob" being cut off at the bottom of the page kind of bothers me. In Msg. #10, there is no need for "Photographer, founder"

Imot: Msg. #11 caught my attention! The ironic thing of course is that being a digital age, I don't use film. But I still like the look! :) For the contact info side of the card, please make the background behind my logo black (it looks a little brown), also, I would like to keep "Photography" and not use "Photographer"

Good ideas! Keep them coming! Let's see what happens when people get back from vacation next week! :)

Ooooooooh! I like these! And we still have a week to go till contest end! :)

Okay.... I like #13, #15, & #16!

davegk: I'd rather have black instead of grey, but I like the "watermark" image. Keep that in there! :)

See if you can put the URL underneath the logo. I am going to upload another file.

Dave, nice! Okay, I decided that I like the format of #16, with the name & title. Why don't we do "Neal Jacob" and "Photographer"

Can we keep the colors of #19 and add the name and title? Add the URL under my logo on the back side of the business card. Also, can I see the watermark on the back side of the business card a little lighter?

By "back side" I am referring to the side without the contact information.

Thank you :)

gig: Please make revisions to #15 using the files I uploaded in Msg. #18.

Fabian: Please make revisions to #13 using the files I uploaded in Msg. #18.

These are all AWESOME submissions, but the contest is not yet over. I may not be able to get to my e-mail this weekend, so, if I don't check in before then, I wish everyone a happy and safe New Year and I'll see you in 2006! :)

I have had some others look at these designs in order to get some more opinions. Some comments I have received are:

gig: regarding #15, will the envelope work with postal regulations (http://www.usps.com/directmail/templates/envelope10.htm)? Don't they put the barcode at the bottom of the envelope?

Also, my name on the business card could use a little kerning. Look at the spacing of "Jacob"

davegk: The business card works, but the envelope and letterhead do not. In the words of one of my friends that saw this, they said that there's "too much Neal Jacob."

Thank you... keep at it!

Happy New Year! :)

I don't see the barcode at the bottom of envelope in the regulation, Am I miss it?

I guess the concern would be with the bottom corners. I personally don't think it would be a problem, nor do I care. I was just looking at an envelope I received with a barcode and the barcode seems to fall towards the center of the envelope anyway.

Can you please revise using the files uploaded in msg #18?

Thank you :)

Okay, everyone, I feel really silly, but I guess it's a good thing I found out about this now.... I found out my Zip+4 is really: 22630-0037

Fran: Can I please see #34 with the city, state & zip code on on line on the business card?

Like this:

PO Box 1744
Front Royal, VA 22630-0037
Phone: 1-888-424-0911
getmoreinfo@nealjacob.com

If it does not work visually (because of spacing, centering, etc...) just take off the "-0037" and leave "22630"

Thank you.

Designers:

I have decided on a winner and since there have been no new entries I am giving notice as per the rules listed in the DO FAQ.

The contest will end tomorrow (Wednesday, January 4, 2006) at 5 PM EST.

Thank you,
Neal

Okay, I have a question. Considering that there has been no other designer posts since Fran's at 6:40 this morning and no new entries. Does anyone object to me ending the contest prior to 24 hour notice? I already have made a decision on which designer and entry to go with, so unless someone submits a knock-out entry I see no reason to drag this out any longer.

Thank you :)
Neal

Hello everyone. Well, all of these are truly excellent designs and it certainly was not easy picking a winner. Everyone I showed these to loved them all and asked "Who did these for you?" So, I'm sure DO has some new clients!

Well, even down to the end, I was bouncing back and forth between davegk and Fran and I finally decided to go with Fran. Again, they are all AWESOME designs, but I just feel that Fran's design (#36) best represents what I am looking for. So, congrats Fran! :)

Fran: Can you please make the following revisions to #36?

- Change the zip code to 22630-0037

- On the business card, please put the City, State, and Zip Code all on the same line.

- On the letterhead and envelope: Can you move the "::" between the PO Box and City State as follows:

PO Box 1744 :: Front Royal VA 22630-0037 :: Phone 1-888-424-0911

- Can the green be made more of a gold? People have been telling me that the green looks very mushy, or a pea green or "puke green"

- Can you use the logo from the letterhead (with the URL under my logo) on the envelope and on the business card?

I guess make those revisions for now and I'll see how it looks and then see if anything else needs to be changed.

Thank you again! :)
