So we've got a slew of members but no one's been really talking much (except for business.... psssht!). Anyways, thought I'd try to start a little coffee table talk thingy here. So..... uh, *thinking*..., why do they call it instant noodles when they take 5 minutes to make? I mean, I could whip up an omelette faster. :chef:

Eggs... nature's perfect food.

when a sheep is in the rain, why doesn't it shrink?

lang

I know I'm pretty miserable when I'm caught in the rain and my clothes are all soaked. I can't imagine how unbearable that must be for sheep. While we're on the topic, this may be a stupid question that I should know from my elementary days, but are sheep native to North America at all?

Klaas Koopman
07-06-2003, 06:20 AM
what do you mean with native to north america?

cre8or
07-06-2003, 07:04 AM
Here's something I always wanted to know:
Why is we drive on a Parkway, and park in a Driveway?

Klaas Koopman
07-06-2003, 07:08 AM
hmm yes nice one :lol2:

lang
07-06-2003, 07:41 AM
Well, what I meant to ask was if sheep were ever naturally a part of North America's eco-system, or if they were introduced and domesticated from another content... but enough about all this CRAZY FUN stuff!

Did you know that Canadians refer to freeways as highways (for all you non Canadians), and that Canadians use the word pylon instead of cone (traffic cones that is). Okay, I'll stop now before someone deletes me...

Julie

Hey, I'm American and I always use highways--what the heck's a freeway? :)

But the real questions is... do you call it soda or pop?

Julie
07-06-2003, 08:28 AM
Why, pop, of course

1. Kimber is right!
2. In this region everything is referred to as 'a coke'. I.E. Do you want a coke? Sure, I'll have a Sprite and she wants a Diet Pepsi. And, no, I have no idea why.

Why is it that when you're driving and looking for an address, you turn down the volume on the radio?

To keep their brains from painting the target.

So you can hear the voices in your head telling you where to go.

So with all the conflicting advice and health advocates, I'm still confused as to how many eggs a day we should be eating.... Kimber?

You can eat as many eggs as you like now. :)

I will try and find some sources to this statement.

Kimber, you know that little indestructible black box that is used on planes, why can't they make the whole plane out of the same substance?

Because it only comes in 12" x 24" sheets, and can't be welded together.

A few 'delicacies' that I've been forced to try in the last little while I thought I'd mention:

- Roasted field mice
- King cobra
- Scorpion
- Bat
- Crickets (actually, just a leg and I got too grossed out)
- Pig brain

What I wouldn't give for a pepperoni and cheese pizza!

I've got a great recipe if you can get ahold of some tomatoes, flour and some cheese :D Maybe we should all pool together and send you one freeze-dried or something!

I have an unquestionable talent of gathering an assortment of great foods and then removing every ounce of goodness and nutrition from them when I try to put them together. The last time I made a pizza, I forgot that the sauce is layed on first, and not last.

Hmm...maybe I shouldn't give you that recipe--the crust contains yeast and that means all that kneading and rising and punching down jazz. Maybe we can send you one of those boxes with the magic pizza crust powder and a can of sauce that my mom used to use. :P
