We are launching a new online games website at the url www.gamebo.com
I have filled out the answers below to help you get an idea of what we are looking for.
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
GAMEBO.com or Gamebo.com or gamebo.com, not sure which I prefer as I think it will depend on the logo/font/etc
What type of product or service do you offer?
We will provide online flash/shockwave games for people to play in their browser.
How long have you been in business?
The site is still in development and we haven't launched yet.
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
We hope to create a fun, easy to recognize logo that will help establish our site as one of the top in the online games market.
What are your long term goals?
To become the name that pops into someone's head when they think about online games.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
February 15th, 2006
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience:
Site has not launched yet, but we expect a wide range of visitors from many young children to adults killing time in the office.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
We would like a fun, friendly, maybe cartoony logo that makes you think online games as soon as you see it. It should be easily recognizable as we will be doing a lot of branding with it. We are going more for fun/catchy rather than corporate/professional.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
I kind of like blue/orange/silver schemes but really I am open to anything and hopefully will get a better idea once I see some examples.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
No, but it would be good if the logo somehow releated to online games.
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Fun, entertaining, quality
What is your tagline or slogan?
Don't have one.
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
We are the place for online games, rememeber the name when you think about online games.
Where will your new logo be used?
Website, advertisements, flash intros, possibly tshirts/stickers in the future
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
http://www.miniclip.com
Currently the industry leader, I like the color and simplicity of their logo
http://www.freeonlinegames.com
Another big player, I don't like their logo at all, looks unprofesional and much too generic
http://www.shockwave.com
Nice site but logo is much to simple and not very catchy
http://www.urgames.com
I like this logo as it is simple, colorful, and lets you know what the site is about
some more competitors:
http://www.2dplay.com
http://www.crazymonkeygames.com
http://www.onlinegames.net
What sets you apart from your competitors?
We aim to offer unique, quality games that will keep players coming back along with a fun experience that is easy on the eyes.
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
fun
Please let me know if there are any other questions. I look forward to your entries :)

Thank you guys for starting this off.
djaka:
The colors are nice but I don't really like the ball for the "o" as it might be hard to tell its a letter and not the period of the .com. Also, I think it is a little too simplisitc overall.
vertlime:
I like the general idea of this logo. I like the style of the font in general but I don't like how the A and M don't go all the way down like the other letters. Also, maybe a little color where the white is or some other variations of the swirl could help a little.
Another thing I forgot to mention in the original post is that it would be good if the logo still looks good and is recognizable at fairly small sizes as we plan to use it in flash games for branding purposes.

Titania:
This is a good start a I like all the graphics you have included, but there is too much emphasis on them and not enough on the word gamebo. The main focus should be the name of the site, gamebo.com, and that should be what jumps out right when you look at it.
vertlime:
I like this entry. I think I like the smaller colored version the best. On the big one, I don't like the orange inside the swirl as its just too much orange there. I also like the text better without the lighter shading on the top half. Also, I would like it to include the ".com" in the logo as well, as I noticed this latest version does not include it.
Thanks again for the entries so far.

Thank you for adding the .com It looks good and I can't really think of any other changes that would help it.
djaka:
This version is better than your first, but still not really what I'm looking for. It looks much too simple, and I don't like the font that is used that much.
titania:
I like how you have made the font stand out in this version and I like it much better than your first version. I still think that the images above it are too big compared to the font, perhaps smaller versions of them, maybe surround the banner would look better.
Medigraph:
I really like the way you have used the pacman and other little guy, along with the dots to relate the name to online gaming. I'm not really sure how to describe this, but the thing I don't like about this logo is that its too "soft". I'm not sure if its that the colors are a little too pastel, or that the font is too plain with no effects, but I think if it were a little more "bold" and less simple I would like it more. I'm not sure if that makes sense but I can't think of any other way to describe it.
Also, so far all the logos have had a blue/orange scheme. I know this was what I said I liked in the original post, but I would also like to see a few alternate schemes perhaps as I am definately not set on anything. Thanks again for all the submissions so far.

Thanks for all the recent entries. Here is my feedback.
Titania:
I like the colors in this version a little more because the name stands out better, but I still think that the graphics above the text are too big and the text should occupy more of the overall area of the logo and be the main focus.
gig:
This logo looks nice and is very clean, but I think it is a little too simple. I'm not sure what could help it but I think it needs a little more going on in it.
eziey:
I like the colors used in version 1 but I'm not that fond of the star. I like version 2 better, mostly the colors. I think it could perhaps be improved though by adding something else to it besides the text, but I'm not sure what.
Medigraph:
I like how you have added the outline effect to the font, however, I don't like either of the color schemes you have used very much. I think it is the pink in the first and purple in the second, both make them look a little more "girly" than we are going for. I think with a different color scheme it could look much better.
nhr:
I really like what you have with your first version. I like the arrow pad thing as it is simple, yet immediately makes me think of games. I also really like the color scheme you have chosen. I think I like the solid version better. The only things I can think of that might improve it would be to make the text bigger in relation to the arrows. Also, perhaps a non-italicized font and/or a variation with a slightly different font.
If you have any other questions please let me know.
Hi Russell,
let me know what you think about these ones.
Thank you.

Ruairi:
Thank you for your entries, but I'm not real crazy about your logos. I am looking for something a lot more colorful. Also, not a lot of the games will be card games so more general graphics besides a playing card would be more appropriate.
Titania:
I like this version better than your previous ones and I can't really think of anything else that would help it out at this point.
nhr:
I like this font better, and I can't think of anything that would improve the logo at all.
Medigraph:
I like this color scheme much better than the 2 previous ones.

eziey:
I like this version a lot more than the first. I like the font a lot better non-italicized. The one thing I don't like about the font that much is the little "cuts" in the letters G, A, M, and B. I think a ver similar font without those might look a little better. I love the tetris thing at the top though.
gig:
I like this version better than your first too as you have added to it but kept it simple. The one thing that throws it off is that the pacman has a grey background while the other two images have white. If they were all consistent I think I would look better.

I like the new font much better and I like it overall. There are a couple small changes I would ask to be made but those can be done if you are chosen as the winner.
gig:
I also like this design better and can't think of anything that would improve it at this point.
The original due date has now come. If there are any other designers that would like to enter, feel free to do so as none of them are an obvious winner to me at this point. I will give another day or so for you to let me know you are working on something, and them will start makign the descision.
Again, thank you to all the designers who have entered so far, we have received some good stuff.

It was a very tough decision because there were so many good designs, but we have chosen eziey as the winner with version 4. Thank you to everyone else who entered as well.
eziey, I like the top version with the gradient better. Also, I have a couple small things that I would like you to change. I think it would be better with the ".com" in the same font as the word gamebo. Keep it in the same location and the same size but make it in the same gradient font with blue and orange outlines, with the orange from it merging with the orange from gamebo. The bottom of the .com should be in line with the bottom of the "g", so the outline of the whole thing should be sort of symmetrical. The second thing is the tetris blocks should be moved away from the "b" a little, so that there is white between them, the same amount that is below the blocks above the other letters. If you have any questions about these changes please let me know.

That looks great. Do you think you could move the "." down so that it lines up with the bottom of the com instead of being vertically centered with it. Also, the sharp corner by them "m" looks out of place since the rest of the orange border has smooth curves, so if you could round that corner a little bit.

It looks great eziey, I think its done. If you could include a non-gradient version with the final files that would be good incase we want to put it on t-shirts or something.
Thank you again to all who entered and to Design Outpost for hosting this contest.
