We are in need of a professional 2 sided brochure that is tri-folded for Cold Cup Groundkeeping. Our target market includes mega-churches and corporate accounts. Our pms colors are #356, and# 366. Our logo is attached . Your creativity is greatly appreciated!

Thanks Ryan

Info and story of Cold Cup Groundskeeping:

Business Summary
Just recently a partnership has begun between Ryan Kubicina- director of “Rock Solid Urban Impact”, and Jason Fields- “10 year business owner of “All Out Lawn Care”, to start a not-for-profit lawncare/groundskeeping business. We (Ryan & Jason) have a passion for urban youth and are currently mentoring & training inner-city youth in life and job skills under the organization “RSUI”. We are now being led to a deeper dimension of this lifestyle to go beyond the classroom, and the living room, and offer these youth a daily opportunity to break the cycle of poverty. The name of this business is “Cold Cup Groundskeeping”. "Cold Cup" comes from Matthew10:42 and says "If anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because He is my disciple, I tell you the truth he will certainly not loose his reward"

How will this work?…..as a Not-for-Profit?
Though we are a not-for-profit, we are still very much interested in the bottom line profit, financial management, and growth of this business. The difference is that we will not be cashing in on the profits personally. Profits will be reinvested back into the inner-city through RSUI. We will receive a paycheck, but we will not own any assets from the business. Cold Cup is setting a precedent for many Rock Solid businesses to come. It will be a model in many ways, one of them being absolute excellence in service quality & business management, bringing proof of an "excellent Kingdom."

Cold Cup Groundskeeping is a business positioned underneath “Rock Solid Urban Impact”. RSUI is a 501 ( C) (3) tax-exempt not-for-profit urban development corporation that exists to motivate God’s people to transform their cities by serving its most vulnerable citizens (youth and poor) through positive loving relationships, spiritual renewal, comprehensive training, and economic empowerment. (see www.rsui.org) RSUI just recently purchased a community center with 8 classrooms, a gym, and cafeteria to facilitate these values. We are in the process of raising funds through this business to get the Urban Impact Center up and running.

Cold Cup’s Mission
Cold Cup Groundskeeping exists to glorify God by providing excellence in grounds keeping services to our customers, while facilitating city transformation by mentoring Kansas City's urban youth in the workplace. As a not-for-profit business, our profits will directly fund the programs of RSUI, which exist to help inner city youth break the cycles of poverty through positive relationships, spiritual renewal, comprehensive training, and economic empowerment.

More about the Founders
Jason has 10 years experience in starting & running a lawn maintenance company. He is providing assets of equipment, clientele, experience, and employees under “Cold Cup” to begin this journey. Juan Gonzalez, also brings momentum as a hard working third year employee of Jason. Ryan currently serves as an elder in an inner-city church. He is also an active church planter. He has an entrepreneurial history and lives a lifestyle of leadership in his family and in the church. To give you more context, both Ryan and Jason are already deeply engaged in the lives of a number of inner-city youth, most of which live near the missions base on 10th and Norton. Among these youth, we know several who already shine.

Market Focus –
Our market focus will be mega-churches and corporate accounts, and wherever our reputation for quality work takes us. “Cold Cup” is serving as a grand platform to tell the story of RSUI while rallying the Church in Kansas City to be an agent of transformation in our city. Not only is this telling the story, but also it is producing a profit to underwrite the remodeling of the Urban Impact Center & future programs of RSUI.

Vision for the future
-To become a bridge for hundreds of youth to be successful in life & society.
-To help the church become a measurable solution to the cities problems, so the city will
begin to turn to the church for more solutions
-To Raise up inner-city youth to be entrepreneurially equipped to take the reigns of this business and several
more

Service List

Thanks for all of these ideas, we have come up with the parts that we like and must have. Here they are.

1. It must be set up to mail

2. Front 1/3 page (after folded) should have a sharp pic with logo & pic - best illustrated by - plum & martell

3. Pictures should have curved edges

4. We like the curvy lines of plum74, fram, & paula

5. one of the inside pics should span at least 2/3rds

6. Should use both of our photos, but could add stock photos

7. Stock photos liked most are : hand planting seeds- communicates with our vision, bushes from keke- communicates services, colored landscape of plum74

From a client message:
"Do you have any different stock photos? If so do they cost extra to use in our brochure?"

:) Hello,
the stock photos I used are from
www.istockphoto.com.
You could choose the pictures you like directly from that website. They sell photos for $1 (low resolution) to $5 (high resolution).
Thank you for your attention

Thanks for choosing me and I'm now ready for your comments and suggestions for improving the design. After sending me your revisions for the brochure, I will be sending you the studies in pdf's (Acrobat Reader) so that you can get a more accurate vision of the colors and how big the text is.

Thanks again

Ryan and Jason,

Attached are 2 files: a sample of how the brochure would look if it were folded in 3 views and the pdf containing the full size.
The pdf should be closer to your actual pantone colors since prepress settings were used however this is still a low res file (the final file will be somewhere around 65mb) so this is for preview purposes only (5 MB). The final file will be sharper and a bit brighter. The dotted lines are still there but just temporarily to see where it will be folded--it will be taken out in the final file.

I hope you don't mind that I also took the liberty of adding my own revisions. I changed some of the text to black and added a leaf background. The leaf background is meant to highlight the services section and make some continuity with the cover design (the mission section when folded forms a leaf with the Founders section).

There are other things that we will need:
1. Cold Cup's address that will be printed on mailer section
2. The paragraph that will be placed under "Partner with us"
3. I'm not sure if I got the former Our Vision section right, you mentioned just having one picture there, I presumed it's the lawn pic. I didn't put in bullets anymore since the vision part was taken off. Please let me know if I got this right.
4. May I also know what type of printing (and where if possible) will be used for this brochure? This will help on the amount of bleed that will be used.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

Lala,

thank you for the revision,

-can we see it without the interior leaf

-also switch "our mission" with "Our Founders" make room for a picture of us with the youth to go under the "our founders paragraph

-make "seed pic" square & keep it above our mission

-remove verse and surrounding piece.

-?did the grass pic get lighter, I think we like the dark green better.

-is there anyway to position the front picture so it will not look like an eyeball when folded.

-can you change the shape of the grass pic and landscape pic a little, dont really like the shape of the curvature.

-make www.coldcup.com bigger.

-our address is
PO box 5254
Kansas City, MO 64112

Thanks a bunch lala,

Jason

Hi Jason,

Yes I did lighten the grass picture, it is really hard to rely on the darkness onscreen because usually it comes out a lot darker on the printer. The best way to print a small size of it on a deskjet printer to see if it will come out darker from your end then you can assume that it will come out more or less the same way on a laser printer (which is the usual printing done for less than 5000 pcs). On an offset printer on the other hand it can come out lighter or darker. This is why I had a question about the printing that would be done. If you are not sure yet, may I know how many pieces will be printed?

Thanks for the comments. I'll be looking into them in the next study.

Lala

Hi Jason,

Here is the design study taking into account your comments.
As a reminder. Please note that we will need the following:

1. type of printing that will be done or who will provide the printing service (and if possible the type of paper). Each printer has its own set of guidelines that are necessary to be taken into account during the design process.

2. Picture of Jason and Ryan for the Our Founders section. (For now I have left the seed photo in its place).
3. Paragraph that will go under "Partner with Us"

If possible, kindly have all visual elements (pic of Jason and Ryan and other pics you might want to add) and text ready before the next revision. This will help us manage our revisions and workflow more efficiently. Thank you.

Lala, thanks for waiting for us.

We took some time to get all our stuff together. These revisions should bring us close to done. We have reworded all of our content and attatched it. Here are the revisions we need.

Design

We have decided we need to go with layout style of study 2 for the back page. We really liked this concept except for the paragraph headings were too hard to see, but I thought of a solution. If you get rid of the dark green strip and change the words from white to dark green, and drop the pictures down to the shwoosh. And make the swoosh a little thicker.

Picture layout –

Pg 2- Top - from left to right
"Seeding hand" pic, group pic (attatched), landscape pic

Page 2 Bottom
Only the “concentric circle grass pic” stretched across and darkened,

Page 1
Left
Top - Hand holding dirt pic
Bottom - Remove bottom pic

Cover 3rd
- cause the woods & yellow grass to disappear, move the whole thing up a bit to make room for telephone #

Services section – add leaf bullets – dark green, also add “landscape consultation” as a service , put just above shrub trimming.

Content Layout – see attatched for content

Page 1.
Left - Remove “Our Founders” replace with “Company Culture” paragraph and underneath this “Not for Profit” paragraph

Page 2.
Left – “ Our Mission” and under that put “Our Name”

Middle - “Our Services”

Right - “Partner with us

Also remove all horizontal dotted lines.

Contact info
Our contact info should be in three places.
First- our mailing return address.
Second - on the Cover 3rd – add phone # 816-333-LAWN. & email : coldcup@rsui.org
Third - Across the bottom pic inside - This should be in bold white and only include website & telephone #, email

Misc
Slogan fix “ We deal with the root issues”

Printing and paper
I don’t have a printer that I am happy with yet, could you recommend anyone? Is our project a special situation? What should I look for in a printer?

Our Mission
Cold Cup Groundskeeping exists to glorify God by providing excellence in grounds keeping services to our customers, while facilitating city transformation by mentoring Kansas City's urban youth in the workplace. As a not-for-profit business, our profits will directly fund the programs of “Rock Solid Urban Impact” which exist to help inner city youth break the cycles of poverty through positive relationships, spiritual renewal, comprehensive training, and economic empowerment.

Our Name
"Cold Cup" comes from Matthew10: 42 which says "If anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because He is my disciple, I tell you the truth he will certainly not lose his reward” In our logo you will see an adult handing a child a cup of cold water as a symbol of Jesus’ heart for youth and poor.

__________________________________________________

Company Culture
We are passionate about training and empowering urban youth, so a culture of excellence is vital to everything we do. We have developed relationships with wonderful young people who are desperate for someone get in their life and challenge them. They need someone to model a job well done, as well as excellence in discipleship, mentorship, management, training, and relationship. We are taking a holistic approach to prove to our youth that the kingdom of God is 24/7. Cold Cup is a relational bridge to take these youth to the next level, to call them up to who they were made to be. We go where the classroom and programs cannot, we serve in the realm where attitude, work ethic, and relational skills are tested and formed.

Not-For-Profit
Though we are a not-for-profit, we press for the best concerning the financial management, bottom line profit, and the growth of this business. The difference is that do not cash in on the profits personally. Profits are reinvested back into the inner city through RSUI. We receive a paycheck, but do not own any assets from the business.

__________________________________________________-

Partner with Us
We want to help businesses weave compassion into their company culture. One of the best ways you can partner with us around serving the poor is to use “Cold Cup” as your grounds keeping solution. Another way you can help is by donation. We are not just asking for "bread," but a "bread maker" that can facilitate the Kingdom of God on the earth. We desire your partnership. All donations are tax-exempt, and checks should be written to “Rock Solid Urban Impact”

Cold Cup Groundskeeping is a business positioned underneath “Rock Solid Urban Impact”. RSUI is a 501 (C) (3) tax-exempt not-for-profit urban development corporation that exists to motivate God’s people to transform their cities by serving its most vulnerable citizens (youth and poor) through positive loving relationships, spiritual renewal, comprehensive training, and economic empowerment. I forgot to answer your question about printers in my previous message. From my end I usually work with local printers here in Ohio but I've had clients who have their brochures/postcards printed with www.overnightprints.com and www.48hourprints.com.

So far I have samples from www.overnightprints.com and they were very good as far as postcards go. You too can request for free samples from these websites to help you with your decision.

Thank you so much for these changes. We have looked over this copy very hard and are very pleased. We have a few minor things that need to be changed. And also a couple of pictures to swap. But the content & structure is right on.

Printing: We have decided do "borderless printing" on our home computer. We are pleased with this outcome.

Email Change: info@coldcup.org

Dark green color: doesnt match our original logo color

Swoosh: Would like to change it to the dark green and make it a bit wider, then change the headings to white

Simplify Contact info: remove the words "call" and the words "email" and also remove the semicolons, and seperate them by space and possibly a small round bullet in between

Slogan fix: Change to "We deal with the root issues!"

Service add: could you add "landscape consultation" to our service list, just under fertilizing and weed control

Picture Swap: We like your original idea for across the bottom inside on message 13. Could we use that across the bottom

Also in message 13 top middle you put our "concentric circle pic" could you replace that and get rid of that group pic. Could you also manuver it to get rid of the junk in the back ground, and use our original colors.

Top right pic on back: It almost promises too much, is there any nice but lesser landscapes pics you have that would show a nice landscape, We will pay for all stock photos including this one, as long as they are cheap.

Front Pic: We want to go with the "concentric circle pic" manuvered to not show any junk in the back ground. Also using our original picture colors.

All other Stock photos: We are Go and would like to take off the watermark, especially the "dirt in hands" pic

Thank you so much Lala, It has been a breeze to work with you.

Hi! Here's with the last set of revisions. This version should have your correct color for the green in front (I only found one area on the front cover that had the "uncoated" version of your PMS color and not your original "coated" PMS color).

Since I'm still sending you a scaled down version of the design, the photos will still be a bit less brighter. The final file will approximately be more than 10 mb.

Please see new stock photo on the inner page. If you would still like to look at more please go to www.istockphoto.com. I am yet to repurchase credits for my account so for the meantime you will have to view the design with watermarks. Rest assured that they will be taken off in the final copy.

We normally charge extra for source files (http://www.designoutpost.com/pricelist.htm).

We found the stock photos we would like to use. here they are.

we want to replace the two boys with "nicehousepic"

& replace top center inside with "youthpic"

How are you feeling about this project, I know we have asked for a lot. We feel like you have been doing an awesome job with our requests. Final Touches are
-stock picture replacements listed above
-plus could we switch back the front pic with the inside bottom pic again. the front seems too empty with just grass.
-and there is a tiny white gap on front third between swoosh and pic
-on the front 1/3 could you make our logo bigger while making the picture concept smaller and moving it up a few inches(maybe making a continuous wavy diagoal swoosh border for the pic instead of a leaf), we would like to use the original photo with the yellow flowers, and have it cropped where the lawn stops.

-inside- can you add a thin swoosh of light green just between the dark green swoosh and the pics?

-the "partner with us" paragraph is being blocked over by the swoosh
-back thirds & front thirds are printing almost 3/16th off of eachother
-I also made some typo errors in my paragraphs. I have pasted the fixed paragraphs below.

Thanks lala,

jason

Hi! These are gorgeous pics but yes we need something that is at least 150 dpi or better (Medium size if taken from istockphoto.com). Since the corporate pic had a longish proportion, I had to move the pic up from the swoosh thus there will have to be a white gap.

The final file ("flat" file) will be in high resolution pdf. The source file or editable file is in Corel Draw 11. The price for the source file is 60% of the project cost ($120). The font used is Franklin Gothic Book. Since fonts are covered by user licenses, we are not allowed to transfer them (email, etc.) so the purchase of this font will be up to you in case you don't have this font. Fonts can be purchased at myfonts.com. Fonts are only a problem with sending source files and not "flat" files (since the fonts are already embedded in the pdf).

If we can finalize everything by tomorrow morning then I can probably have the final file ready by afternoon or evening.

In "our mission" paragraph the word "RSUI" should be changed to "Rock Solid Urban Impact" and should leave the quotations.

in "Our name" paragraph the There should be a space between Matthew & 10

In "Our Services" - pavement striping should be changed to parking lot line marking.

Ryan and Jason,

Here's the final draft with the latest revisions. The size of the brochure is 8.5x11 in. plus a .125 bleed (allowance) on each side (total size=8.75x11.25). It is generally a bit harder to print on a desktop printer to have both pages aligned exactly and you will have to adjust of the margins of the printing yourself. Hopefully the bleed will help address this concern (just do not select "shrink to fit" on your printer options).

Hey Lala,

You did awesome with the grass on the corporate pic
Also the smoke around the #s at the bottom- looks great

Final adjustments

Most important-
-Line up pics, bottom inside
-Center tel # on front third
-front pic- zoom out like message 13
-Typos fixed see list below

If it is easy
-phones ###.###.#### (change dashes to periods)
-on bottom inside: put more separation space between each piece of contact info
-bring light green pinstripe around to the bottom corner inside
-extend interior folds 1/8th inch to the right

Typos
Our Mission- change “RSUI” to “Rock Solid Urban Impact” and leave quotations
Our Name- put a space between “Matthew” & “10”
Our Services- change "pavement stiping" to "parking lot line marking"
Company Culture- So bad I re-wrote it

Company Culture
We are passionate about training and empowering urban youth, so a culture of excellence is vital to everything we do. They need someone to model a job well done, therefore our service to you will be of the highest quality. We have developed relationships with wonderful young people who are desperate for someone to get in their life and challenge them. Cold Cup is a relational bridge to take these youth to the next level. Not-For-Profit
Though we are a not-for-profit, we press for the best concerning the financial management, bottom line profit, and the growth of this business. The difference is that do not cash in on the profits personally. Profits are reinvested back into the inner city through RSUI. We receive a paycheck, but our assets will be owned by RSUI.

Can we get a bid for further revision

Concerning the front 1/3, I was looking at your original concept on message 13. This was perfect from the beginning except it looked like an eyeball. What if you moved it left one inch or so, enough to see the stem come out of the leaf a little. Then it would be a leaf again, and look like our logo. What do you think. You might have to make it a little smaller.

Also adding a dark green stripe to border the company culture background

I hope I got them all, however the only thing I didn't follow was putting the lt. green border under the swoosh instead, putting the lt. green border under made the swoosh looked like it was beveled.

Wow you have totally blown us away on this project! Everything about it is so cool. My parnter loves it.

I found a couple minor details left and then we are done.

-tel # on front third should be centered under the logo
-in "Our Services" change "pavement striping" to "parking lot marking"
-gaps in front pic border

What do we owe you for the extras we have asked for? Here are some more extras

-Front third leaf concept. I liked it when the top swoosh was inside the leaf.....love the front third concept.

-New pic for front (emailed full pic) uploaded cropped

Thanks

Lala,

This brochure is beautiful. It just blew our expectations out of the water. I was so excited about it today. Still want to know what we owe you for the extra time we spent.

Every thing is completely finished except a couple of typos. I am so sorry about this. I should have found these so long ago. This time I had 3 other people proof read.

Here they are. please log your time.

-in "Our Name" - 4 typos so I re-wrote below
Our Name
"Cold Cup" comes from Matthew 10:42 which says, "If anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward.” In our logo you will see an adult handing a child a cup of cold water as a symbol of Jesus’ heart for youth and poor.

change
-"bread," but a "bread maker"
to
-"bread", but a "bread-maker"

Not-for-Profit
we are missing the word "we" in the second sentence......The difference is that (we) do not.....

and "Parking lot marking" to "Parking lot line-marking"

If its easy could you move our slogan and tel# down a quarter inch on the front page to separate our logo.

so so so sorry for the continued typos.

Lala I am thouroughly pleased. The project is complete. I just looked over the whole thing and it is beautiful. Your effort and response and creativity was such a blessing to us. Something else I want to thank you for is for making judgement calls, so many times I had an Idea but you overrode it for the better. This is what an artist ought to be able to do. I know you will be blessed for going the extra mile. I really hope that this design outpost thing pays off well. Please let me know how much extra we owe you. I know we owe you several hours. If you wont let me pay, I at least want to account for it as a donation to "Rock Solid"

blessings to you,

Jason and Ryan :D
