End Text

This will be a 6x9 postcard following the guidelines at PsPrint (http://www.psprint.com/print_services/mailhouse/template.asp)

I dont really have much creative input on this except that the card has to make an immediate impression with the use of the images. I prefer a nice vibrant blue color but am open to other combinations. Please see our website (http://www.BathGems.com) for the color blue I am partial to.

The images to be used from these are the center vanity in the RemodelAd and the Sophista vanity and one other that I will photograph soon and post. So there will be three images used.

Thanks,

Steven

Hello,

I'll start things off.. Let me know what you think...
I used all the images you supplied, as place holders, can be swapped out for new ones.

Thanks.

Martello,

Thats fantastic! I would suggest the following changes:

1) I am not crazy about that color. Please see our website www.BathGems.com for the color blue in the logo.

2) The bar going across the image should be shortened to not obstruct the picture so much.

3) The lower web address on the front needs to be much more prominent, probably like the original text, since this is the point of the postcard, to get them to visit the website.

4) I like the mask in the image on the front but can it be gaduated from no mask on the left to a mask on the right?

Thanks,

Steven

Here are the revisions you requested... I'm a little confused about revision #4.. What exactly did you want me to do with the picture?

Thanks ;)

Well its all faded looking, like an old picture. I was thinking that the raw image is much more vibrant so if it was going to be faded that it would start out vibrant on the left and become progressively faded as it gets to the right on the picture. Maybe this is a dumb idea, I dont know, but I think I want to have the picture be vibrant and engaging.

The other thing I worry a little about is all the white around the border of the card. My experience tells me that the cards get all marked up going through the postal system.

Steven,
Will this postcard need a mailing panel on the back or will it be distributed in a different manner?

BathSafety

If by mailing panel you mean the postal regulations that a pannel on the lower right be left open, then yes, I will be mailing these out as a regular postcard. I meant to mention this, that the backside will only be in black and white, no images.

But after seeing Martello's design I am definitely willing to go with the front only using the Sophista set as this is our most popular vanity set.

Here's my first layout for your consideration. I wanted to make the front of the post card clean and attention grabbing so I reversed the order of the text and employed a big, bold headline that will immediately draw the eye. Feedback is always appreciated.

ElKootcho and Kekepania- The exceptional stye is too large. I am counting on the image to be the main draw upon receipt. SO this need to be at least half the current size in both cases, if not more.

Vic and Kekepania - The logo is about twice the size that it needs to be. I am not building brand with this campaign nor am I expecting Bath Gems is a brand they already know so it need not be that prominent.

Vic - The The Essence of Style should not be on top of the image. Also, there are too many different font changes going on. I would be happy to stay with the original fonts I posted including capitalizations, bolding, and italics.

Kekepania-Very cool design. Again I would stay with the original fonts, capitalizations, bolding, and italics. The Exceptional Style can be word ballons like you did but as previously said this should not be emphasized quite as much. The extra space gained can be used to move the two bubble outwards from the large bubble. ALso, the small top bubble is not symetric with the small bottom bubble and it is drawing my eye.

Everyone - I think we need to add in VERY SMALL type that Starbucks is a registered trademark of Starbucks corporation and is not affilliated with www.BathGems.com. The smallest readible text is good enough.

Thanks for all the great work,

Steven

Hi Plum,

I like the dotted line, it really draws the proper attention to the offer.

Can you move the logo to the left and put the headline next to it. Raise the rest of the text, and put the website in with the text and not over the picture?

Steve

Wow, I have to tell you that this is a very tough decision. Right now it is between two designs that I like equally well.

Two more days to decide.

Sir,

Thanks for your suggestions. I hope I got them right in Study 2. I have another study (study 3 in the next message) wherein the logo is positioned in the far left of the card, this allowed me to make the text of your headline bigger. A thin and precise shadow is also added behind your headline to help it stand out. Note also that I changed the first letter (script), I thought this might give it a bit of snob appeal. The image has also been enhanced for a slight contrast.

I hope this meets your satisfaction.

Here is the front and back together. I added a dotted line to the front to make the offer stand out a bit more. :) Hope you like!

Alright, well I suppose I need to choose even though I like 2 designs equally well. It was between Kekepania and Plum74.

I will go with Kekepania's bubble design.

Thank you to everyone for very inspired designs.

On to the revisions forum.

1) The logo should be made smaller and fit completely into the upper dark band

2) The www.BathGems.com at the bottom of the front page should be about 30% larger or else in some other font that makes it stand out very prominently. This is the main point of the card, to get a web visit out of the customer.

3) Can you make the dotted line a dashed line?

4) Lets put the starbucks disclaimer on the back of the card and give the other special offer text a little more room between lines.

On the back

5) Lets top justify the return address to align with the to of the logo. Also, take out the phone number.

6) Add in the WHEN YOU BUY YOUR VANITY IN THE NEXT 14 DAYS to the backside offer

7) Make the tagline DISCOVER DISTINCTIVE BATHROOMS AS UNIQUE AS YOUR NEW HOME smaller and www.BathGems.com larger.

8) I think the layout on the back should be spread out into 2 or 3 discrete areas instead of the current monoblock.

Thanks again,

Steven

Looks great! The only change left is on the backside, the www.BathGems. needs a com

Also, did you check the guidelines for psprint.com? Do they allow greyscale on the back for black and white? I have no idea.

They want this as a .pdf file, right?

Thanks for an awesome design!

glyphica
02-14-2006, 12:01 PM
Ooops.. haha it must have got cut off when I made it larger :) sorry. I will fix that!

As far as psprint.com, they do allow greyscale on the back, but I will have to make a slight change to the gradient on back, because they only print gradients from 10%-100%. (mine is 40%-0%) Not sure if that makes sense, but I will show you in my next set of revisions ;) They do want a .pdf file, and they have a whole list of specifications for printing... so I'm going to read thru those carefully and make certain that everything is going to print right before giving you the final files :) I will post as soon as possible the "final" print ready revisions. Then you can take a look and give me the final okay :)

Thank you!

Hi Steven,

Okay... I added a .25" bleed to the entire postcard for printing. (thats why it looks a little different :) I also went through all of the psprint specifications and it is ready for print, unless there is anything else you would like to see changes on. Once you are ready to receive the final files I will need your email address and then I will send a link to you for you to download the files to your computer.

Let me know. Thanks! :)

How come the fonts look all ragged now? Will it look this way in print?

BathSafety

Also, I will not be using their postage permit so the stamp box should just be blank or PUT STAMP HERE

glyphica
02-14-2006, 07:00 PM
No, the fonts will not look jagged when printed... they had me convert all text to outlines, so when I save it online for you to see it looks a little wierd. I will change the stamp portion. Anything else?

BathSafety
02-14-2006, 09:56 PM

I will send you just the pdf file for psprint. Let me know if that works.

BathSafety
02-17-2006, 12:13 PM
We are almost there. When I went to upload the pdf file to psprint only the front on the card, page one of the pdf, would upload. Appearantly I need to have the front and back be in separate pdf's.
