(Admin code added by Palmer - P0951155)

Our theme for next summer's youth camp for our church's youth group is THIRSTY derived from the following verse:

"My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God." Psalm 42:2

This camp is put on by a couple of youth pastors who started a non-profit corp. for doing camps and retreats. Our website is www.412students.com (http://www.412students.com)

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated!
We need it in a week to begin promoting camp for next year.

Thanks,
Dave

FYI--I'm hoping to get something put together for you to look at by the middle of this weekend. You have a great website, by the way. I've never seen one so well developed for a youth ministry. The kiddos must be totally excited to attend the first time (and all subsequent, I'm sure :)!

Thank you Julie, I look forward to what you come up with. Oops - I accidentally listed the wrong url. 412students.com is a great site because my partner Michael (a youth pastor in Jacksonville, FL) made it and he is much metter than I. My site is 412student.com and you will agree that it needs a lot of help. I have that project posted as well and have had 1 idea so far. Again, I look forward to what you come up with. The themes of our 3 subsequent camps were as follows: 2001 = Surrounded; 2002 = Broken; 2003 = Changed. If it would help to see those logos, LMK and I will email them to you. Thanks.

David,

I'm sorry, but I don't have anything to post right now. I'm using a dial-up in my home office, and we lost phone service yesterday. Since I can't get into this site unless I drive into town and check it on another computer and I hadn't printed out your requirements, I didn't get anything done with it. I will, however, do my best to get you something after I get back service.

Thanks,

Julie

First, let me say thanks for your contributions so far.

Here's the first...possibly to religious, but I was going for a "spirit to quench the thirst" idea--fire away at will!

Julie - I don't see your first looks as being too religious unless I'm missing something in your symbolism. You are on the right track trying to portray quenching thirst by whom only He can quench - that is our exact theme. We just need to figure out how to do that in a teenage style. I think maybe something with a surfer wave (since most of the kids going to camp will be from Florida) and the fonts need to be more edgier like surfer or skater style.

Dynagirl - thank you too. I kind of like the cartoony look but kind of don't - it doesn't quite portray 'thirst quenching" as more of a raindrop.

To all: I am going to ask Palmer to move this to the logos forum. I just think you guys are too good not to be rewarded with something. Plus I do this camp with another church and we can at least come up with something. Please follow this and keep working on it. Thanks.

Thank you palmer.

Thank you Elkootcho for the question. bty - you've been rockin' with the designs lately. No mercy on the other designers-eah?

How are you going to be using this logo? Any color restrictions?

Alright, back to business. Good question. Primary use on T-shirt and print materials like marketing postcards and other printed material. Logo will be planted on the website as well.

No color restrictions unless you consider pink a color.

Although, so far I like Elkootcho's the best, from a design standpoint (the look, colors, fonts & feel), I don't think any of these are portraying the theme - "thirsty." The waves look great but they don't convey the message. Let's try moving away from that and see what else we can come up with. Thanks.

Not quite what we are looking for, but thanks. We are trying to portray something specific, something "thirst quenching". Try to picture whatever you might do on a t-shirt.
Thanks,

I appreciate all the tries lately.

Elkoocho - I still like this one the best - it just looks like it belongs on a T-shirt in a surf shop :D , though would like to see it a little more edgy for surfer/skater teenager look in the font

l went to gatorade.com powerade.com sprite.com and moutnaindew.com to get some ideas but none of them are all that good either. Mabye something like the powerade "P" except a "T" or the Mountain Dew logo look or feel.

Dynagirl - sorry, not even close. too girly and not edgy enough for teenagers.

try to picture it on a T-shirt.

Taldo - that's scary.

Radical Seed - not bad but don't think it will look well on a T on those colors, plus I don't see the concept of "thirst quenching" whatever that might look like.

Too all, please tell me if this is just too hard a concept to portray and we can go in a different direction. Your feedback is appreciated as well. Thanks,
David

Taldo-

Not sure about his one for our main logo, but would consider it for a second T-shirt design. I'd like to see the cartoon man more pronounced and I'd like to see it with the scripture verse printed just below the logo that was mentioned in the opening contest description. Include quote and reference in similar font. If it works for that purpose we could declare two winners if we ever get a 'thirsty' logo. I'm sure palmer wouldn't mind another 10% :D

Radical Seed- would like to see your latest with an edgier font. We like the one with the yellow font (not black), but not font. Can you please picture it on a burnt yellow or orange T-shirt? That would help. Thanks.

Ejlain - not quite it. It's too - um, not radical enough for today's teenagers.

Taldo - Yes, you have it for the second use (optional T-shirt) we talked about. Not sure how to work that out, but why not go 2 for 2 with a logo try for our main use - t-shirts, website, marketing brochure. Thanks.

Christine - I'm sorry, but it needs some more imagry instead of just mostly text (see elkootcho's or radical seed's)

Elkootcho - Your first work was better. We're really not getting into the latest one.

Radical Seed - still would like to see those minor changes. Right now this one has a strong lead with Elkootcho's first entry right on your heals.

Keep 'em coming, I know this is a hard concept. We are now just going for a really cool look even if it doesn't communicate the theme fully.

Thanks,
David

Elkootcho - I would really like to see this logo with another shadow on the wave to give it a little more dimension. Also, if it's possible to give it some fuzziness either in or arround the wave tip. I think what's holding this one back is the font. We are looking for a surfer/skater edgy type font. This one is close.
Thanks

Hey all - I just got an idea from one of our students a 13 year old skater dude - he wants to see if you can create a big wide open mouth and water rushing into his mouth. Maybe this helps since he's our customer!

Thanks for sticking with it and going in a different direction. I like this one, but I am trying to think of what it is missing. It needs a little pizazz, but I can't think of how to describe it. I'm going to get some input and get back with ya. It might be the font or it might need some electricity in it. Thanks,

Hey there! Here's my entry. I think it would look great on a shirt. If you want anything tweaked or changed, just say the word. I'll make another version later on.

* The drop may seem a bit rough, but when it's vectored, it will all be smoothed out.

makinprogress412

Christian - Thanks for the try but I'm not sure I really get this one. We are looking something a little more graphic oriented. Thanks.

Elkootcho - could you possibly do the "powerade" look with the font on "thirsty" just like the 'powerade' font. Plus, if we go in this direction it still needs something to make it more exciting. Or, how about his thought? - maybe incorporating the funky 'T' that looks like the powerade 'P' into the first letter of the logo as the 'T' in the word "thirsty." Just something so it's together. I don't think I like the swoosh 'T' above the word. It makes for quite a large logo on the T-shirt. See if you can just tweek this thing some. Thanks.

Thanks for the changes Elkootcho, this is not bad but still needs something. Needs some background or pizzazz like another color added. I liked what you did in the very first p-ade logo with the effects on the word thirsty and the variation in the coloring. If we go with this we've got to jazz it up some. It just seems too plain.

Just as a quick FYI: the top image is the powerade logo I used as a guide. The bottom image is the same logo with the powerade colors. Is it just maybe colors that should be played with? Maybe shirt color? Any ideas would be helpful.

Elkootcho - alright, I really like the electric blue on black and we've decided that this will look really cool on a black t-shirt. But, I don't think copying the powerade logo is going to be a look we'll want for all our other print like marketing brochures, web logo or our main logo look for this event which puts us back to the drawing table. We'd like to purchase this for a T and we can talk about that later. Your very first try was probably closest to a logo look than anything at this point. The second wave look was too real of a wave.

Radical Seed - I can see them now. Thanks. These just aren't screaming at us either that we want this look. I wish I could say hey tweek this here or there but I don't think we are even close enough to offer any suggestions in that direction.

I have an image that is giving me ideas but I don't know how to get it into the thread. Any help on that one?

Thanks,
David

Christian,
Sorry I didn't reply - didn't like it at all. Want something with more of a logo design, than just a t-shirt look. As you read the thread you'll realize I've got two t-shirt designs out of this, but no logo. It needs to be good and professional. Do you know how I can upload images so you can see something of the sort of logo we'd be looking for?? When I hit the IMG button it asks for a URL. I assume then I've got to post a pic on my website or something. Help!

We declare ELKOOTCHO the winner!

Thank you all for your hard work and patience with this contest. I know it was a hard concept to portray. I'm sure we can work with one of Elkootcho's fantastic designs. The latest adds alot to the look that may allow us to go in that direction. Either way, with minor tweaking we can use one of his.

Sorry Palmer for the confusion - we had some very nice looks, some not so hot, and it's been hard b/c I dont' think we even had an idea what we where looking for when we started this and there is more than one person on this end making the decision which makes it harder to decide. There were also several PM's that I don't think you saw. Didn't mean to say we weren't real close by the last post. Thanks.

That's why according to the designers rules, all communication between the contest holder and the designers is to be done on the public forum, not by private message or email. The designers rules are also posted in the contest holder's private forum as well.

It's important for the smooth operation of the site for myself and the moderators to keep an eye on things. The designers are instructed to tell the contest holders politely to please post their comments on the forum. They should of told you that. No wonder I was lost. :)

Congratulations Kootch

Thanks David, glad they were able to help you out. Best of luck with the camp. I have very fond memories of my church camp growing up

Palmer,
Sorry about the confusion as this was my first contest. To be honest, haven't read the rules in detail. I'll try to do better next time. We design logos about 4 times a year for different events, so you'll be seeing me some more I'm sure. Also, by several PM's I didn't mean to any one person. I think I only sent Elkootcho 1 and Radical Seed 1 and Taldo 1 and I don't think any were intended to keep info from anyone else. The one to Elkootch was about how to go about getting both designs and if that was feasible we would pick his, and Radical was just about not being able to see his downloads in the thread which he posted publicly and Taldo was about buying her design outside the thread so as to keep the contest going. And you are right, camp is an awesome experience and so is having children (got 4 myself) so enjoy and God Bless!
