What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
A&J Outdoor Services, L.L.C.

What type of product or service do you offer?Grounds Maintenance: mowing, trimming, aerating, lawn dethatching

How long have you been in business?4 years

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity? Attracting new customers through awareness of company/services.

What are your long term goals? Brand recognition, having people recognize the logo on the side of the truck/trailer.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? 2/21/06

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience Customers gained through referrals and "word of mouth". Residential and small commercial clients.

Who would you like to add to your audience? Additional upscale residential and commercial clients. Association maintained communities. (town home communities, etc.)

Perception/Tone/Guidelines: Professionalism, class, quality
What type of logo would you like? A logo that reflects outdoor services (i.e. leaf, trees, lawncare). I'm looking for a professional, classy looking logo. A logo that is not "busy" or "whimsical". A logo that can be distinguished from a distance. If I'm mowing the lawn across the street, I want the neighbor to be able to look outside and distinguish the name/logo.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?) Currently I have been using a bright green and bright yellow color combination on my current logo but don't really have to stick with those colors. I prefer earth tones or colors that adequately convey lawncare.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo? I like images of leaves, like a prestigious oak or oak leaf, possibly a maple. Just an idea and nothing that I must have.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business? The logo should convey the image of quality, dependability and professionalism.

What is your tagline or slogan?
Currently I don't have a tagline or slogan, but would entertain the idea.
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience? As stated earlier, the message of the logo should convey a message to upscale clients and businesses.

Where will your new logo be used? The logo will be used on my letter head, new business cards, truck signage, eventually an enclosed trailer (probably white in color).

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos? Competition consists of everyone from the major lawn care company to the little guy running around with the mower in the back of his truck.

List competitive URLs if possible

What sets you apart from your competitors? I'm a small operation and I pride myself on taking care of properties as if they were my own (sounds "cheesy I know"), we also go a little bit further than the "other guy" and spend the time to make sure that the job is done right.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company: Quality, dependability, Professionalism.

let me know what you about this one.

Thank you.

Ruairi,

I like the idea of the A&J with the outdoor services below. I'm not really sold on the font and the clip art. Could we possibly see something in a different font and possibly "shadowed" or something to make it stand out? Also, maybe a different picture/clip art.
Thanks

thank you for your feedback. How about something like this?

Pracus,
I'm not really "sold" on the art with the hand. I also would like to try some different colors (light green is too hard to read). as well.

Gig,
The light brown isn't the most appealing color and I don't like the "j" the way it is. Are there any other fonts that would be bolder? Something that makes a statement.

Ruairi,
I really like what you did in the first version better. The colors are more vivd and you could understand and read the "A&J" better. The second version appears somewhat convoluted/busy.

Thanks

Ruairi,
I like version 4 better than #3. I think the font is a little larger and easier to read. Could we possibly explore maybe making the A&j with some green color variations (to match the grass). I do like what you did with the graphic in front. Were getting on the right track.

Medigraph,
I like the look with the sun and the grass. Could we look at maybe making the grass bend to the right and maybe explore like cattails or something to give it a little more "pazazz"? Also, the A&J in plain black letters doesn't do anything for me. Can we explore possibly different colors and maybe making the A&J slant (as opposed to straight up and down)

Paula23,

A very nice first version. Could we look at switching the colors of A&J and Outdoor services. I would like to see the A&J making more of a bold statement. Possible outlining it in another color to make it stand out more. Also, as i mentioned in my last comment. How about a possible cattail or leaf or something in the front. Just so I can explore different options.

vertlime,

I'm not a big fan of the A&J. I think that if someone saw my truck from across the road that they might not be able to differentiate what it is. I do like how you tried to incorporate the leaf into the logo. The colors also didn't excite me.

Thinkkre8tiv,
I'm glad you joined the party. I like what you've done for a first version but how about doing something similar with the A&J in more of an upper case font. maybe using capital letters with the "&" in the middle. Also, maybe something more showing grass or a leaf/tree possibly.

Pracus,
The colors didn't wow me and it seems a little "plain". I would like to see something a little more bold and have it jump out at me more and catch my attention. I like the whole "leaf thing" though. Maybe if we could encorporate it in another version.

Pracus,
I'm still not overly excited (sorry) about version #3 either. I guess in looking at it I would like to see other ideas. I think maybe another direction because I don't see that design working.

Paula23,
I really like where you're going with that design. I like what you did with the whole A&J portion and I do like what you have done with the cattails. Could we try a few different things with the location with where the cattails are. Maybe some other things in front of the A&J (different leaves, trees, landscaping theme, etc.) to explore other options.

Bogglins,
Thanks for the idea. I'm not excited by the color selections. They seem a little too plain. maybe make the A&J bigger and the outdoor services smaller. I don't like the theme above the "J", I'd like to see something more "outdoorsy" or landscape related.

Ruairi,
I think this idea is really coming around for me. I like the fact that the A&J jumps out at me and is very noticeable. Could we possibly explore maybe something new in front of the A&J. Don't get me wrong, I like what you did but I would like to see if there are other options that I haven't thought of (again, maybe different design themes/outdoor/landscaping ideas).

Ruairi,
I like both version 7 and 8 but they still don't work as well as version 5 and 6. I think the particular leaf that you used in version 7 doesn't grab me and version 8 may be a little too much green. On version 7 the circle figure worked better with that version than it does with this version. Can we try maybe an oak tree or oak leaf. Maybe a maple tree.

Eziey,
Welcome, The colors don't grab me and the "A&J" Isn't bold enough for me. Could we possibly try another version. Thanks.

Medigraph,
It looks a little better but the "wavy grass" doesn't work for me. The red is something that I'm not totally sold on. Also, could we try a different font for the A&J. Thanks.

Paula23,
I like the different version. Could we maybe try to remove some of the cattails in the middle of the A&J, but maybe leave the grass. I want the A&J to stand out. Also, could we try different versions of the green. As bold as I can get without being obnoxious.

Ruairi,
I hate to do this too you bt I know I went from having too much green in the front of the A&J to it now being too black. I don't necessarily hate the tree but it doesn't stand out enough.

Paula23,
I think version 4 looks a little more bold than the other versions because of the darker green color that you used. I definitely think that it makes more of a statement than the others. Could you please try to remove the grass in the middle so I could see what that looks like?

Thinkkre8tiv,
I like what you did but it still doesn't "wow me". When I look at it I have to look close to see what it says. I would prefer for it to be more straight forward and bold. I would like it to be obvious when someone pulls up to my equipment in traffic that they can tell exactly what we do.

Eziey,
I like this version better than the other one but still thaink that the colors are a little "mundane". I would like to see brighter/bolder colors. And though I'm starting to like the oak leaf approach, the colors clash too much and don't look like they go together. Maybe some colors that contrast a little better.

I like this

Castell,
Thanks for the design. I think it may be a little too plain. I don't mind the A&J with the outdoor services below it, but I think it could use some "jazzing up". The colors work well together but I would rather see them with a green variation. The letter is too blocky and plain and I'm not sold on the green leaf and grass art work.

Thinkkre8tiv,
I like the logo idea but it doesn't quite flow with our business style. It looks a little like a patch (that you would see on a uniform for example). I'm sorry if I'm not making myseld the most clear but the colors are nice but the idea doesn't win me over yet.

Paula23,
I like it. Could we still look at some different colors and fonts. I still like the idea of keeping the A&J a very bold green but maybe the outline or the outdoor services portion could be a bright yellow or maybe another color. Maybe even just for the heck of it, try some other color variations all together. Rember that it has to be bold and colors that contrast well. Although I like the bold green alot, maybe a bold blue would be an option.....thanks

Eziey,
Thanks for the different color options. Although very nice, the more I look at the oak leaf the less I'm convinced that it should be there. It looks more like we decided to put it there than it belongs there. Maybe try putting the A&J inside the leaf or something like that.

Unorthodox,
I like the idea, I'm not real sold on the silver color though. Possibly a different color and maybe eve a different font. I like the A but not the J. Could be try to change it and maybe experiment with slanting the letters a little.

Unorthodox,
I'm still not sold on the colors. I think 3 main colors is one too many. Possibly the A&J and outdoor services in a dark green and the rest of it in either a lighter green or yellow. I don't like the look of the "lime green though".

nhr,
I like the outdoor service being enclosed in the way you did it but I don't like the A&J at all. I'm thinking if someone looked out the window or say one of our truck go by that they would be hard-pressed to make out what we do. It should be noticeable from a distance.

Paula23,
Well it was worth a try but I would say that the green was better than the colors that we proposed. As I mentioned above for unorthodox, I think the more colors that are in the logo seem to take away from the message. I think if we went back to some green and yellow versions that we would be better off. The font in version 9 is the font that I like the most so far. I'm not a big fan of the version 10 and 11 fonts. They aren't as bold as version 9.

Skyvee,
I'm not a big fan of the brown, could we try them in a dark green and possibly try to slant the letters and maybe shadow them or outline them to make them stand out more. Also maybe make the "&" in either a lighter green or bright yellow.

Thanks everyone.......I hope to be able to make a decision tomm. sometime. Any last minute ideas would be appreciated. I have not oficially made-up my mind at this time.........Jeff
