Hi,

My name is Simon and I'm trying to launch a website where people can buy mocked-up newspaper front pages where the stories have been personalised for the buyer.

I'm looking for someone to design me a couple of templates please. I will code them, so I just want the cut up art at the end of this. Template 1 will be for the home page and template 2 will be used to collect user data. Please see the attached mock-ups.

I was thinking the pages would look like a trashy UK tabloid, maybe even down to having a paper-like edge and drop shadow to the right and torn paper edge and drop shadow to the bottom. Let me know if that's a good idea or not.

I don't have any pictures of the finished product yet, but when I do, I will probably get some photos done of some of my friends and family posing with it for the slot on the homepage. Can you fill this gap with a holding image please.

All the links on this site will be HTML text.

If you need to see an example of a proper UK tabloid have a look here:

Thanks
Simon

Hi Sawan,

Thanks for entering. I really like the second template. It looks really like a proper tabloid news site.

Here are my comments.

The page is going to be selling something, so we will need to put a big product shot on the right. Would you be able to put a portrait shape picture in there please (in place of the photographers)? Move the other promo slots down and remove one.

I really like the font you have used in Top Stories. Would you be able to use the same font, with a really hard drop shadow on the 'Make The Papers' header please. Also, this header needs to be much bigger and aligned left. I will put a cutout product shot next to the website name.

I like the ripped paper look. Are you able to make the rip a bit bigger, so it looks like someone has quickly torn this page from a newspaper?

Can you remove the rounded edges from the red header backgrounds please. I want to code this with as few graphics as possible (apart from a huge background image I guess).

I can really see how this front page could be adapted for use on the second template. I think the picture of the paparazzi phtogrophers is brilliant.

Thanks again for working on this.

Hi Sawan,

Sorry it's taken a while to get back to you.

Here are my comments:

I like the large ripped edges you've done in the second submission.

I also like the "Make The Papers" header text. Can the drop shadow be really black and only slightly visable like the header on http://www.anorak.co.uk/

I really wanted all header left aligned and big picture on the right. I've attached an example.

I like the bottom of your first example with the footer links within the ripped page.

Thanks again for entering. It looks like this is gonna be a one horse race so we may as well close this contest and get the design tweaked and delivered. What do you think? :)

Hi Sawan ,

Here are the list of changes I would like to finalise the project.

Can you make the drop shadow on the header tight to the text above it? Just one or two degrees to the right and one or two degrees down from the actual text. Can you also let me know what font you have used please?

Can you remove the grey background to the page? This needs to be white.

That's it. Can I get this as a layered PSD please?

Thanks
Simon

Hi Sawan,

Sorry for the lack of reply, been busy here at work. Got the files. Can i just ask that you tidy up on little thing? In the header the black bar (where the navigation links are) and the red line underneath this don't seem to meet the edge of the torn newspaper. Can you fix this please.

Thanks
Simon
