Hey folks, our church has gone through some changes recently and we could use a fresh look for our logo. Our founding pastor has resigned after 12 years and it would be helpful to remove things that people associate with him, hence the need for a logo change. Finances are tight right now and any help you can give would be appreciated.

Church description: we are a cutting edge dynamic relevant and practical church. We are located in sunny, sandy beached, awesome weather most of the time, South Florida. We are a 12 year old church that meets in the gymnasium of a local high school. We are getting ready to move to a new high school that has a state of the art theater (yeah! no more setting up chairs at 6:15 AM every Sunday). Our average age is 37. We are located in Wellington, FL which is pretty affluent (go figure why we are struggling financially???). Too many Beamers and Jags and private planes and stock portfolios dropping. Our church style is anything but traditional church. We use live music that is loud, dramas, movie clips, etc. and teach on relevant topics. It's a young church of professional yuppies, business owners, mostly white collar. Our church is what we call "trans-denominational" which means basically we recognize people have various backgrounds and we associate with 3 church denominations/associations with which we feel we are like minded: Southern Baptists, Willow Creek Association & Saddleback Community Church. Don't let that first one scare you. I figured if you knew much about us it would help with the logo creation and avoid wasting a lot of your time with logos that "aren't us." And since this is in the charity forum, wasting time is probably not an option. To get an idea of our previous logo (I will attach it) you can visit our new website that I made myself today in just 3 hours  That is a whole other story that we don't have time for here, but if you are interested in designing our website template as well, lets talk. Not sure if I should have a separate post for that one or not (Palmer, you watching?? - have a thought on that?) Anyway, I think that is enough to get started. I leave colors up to you - just don't use the same ones in the old logo. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I see all :D

I would stick with the logo request and then when you decide on one, the template can be requested. The template can then use the same colors of the logo.

Thank you Dynagirl for your try, though it's not quite grabbing me with energy. I do, however, like the almost bold blue and yellow colors which could even be more bold with crisp, brighter colors. We are in S. Florida and are a modern type church with mostly young couples and teens and children. Mostly fairly affluent upper middle class people. Sunbursts, abstract people are O.K., but traditional icons are probably not an option. It's hard to say "let's not have a cross" because without that there is nothing to believe, but to many today it has no meaning, so probablly not a cross or other religious symbols. The heart of our church is to say to people who are un-churched (never experienced church) or de-churched (turned off from a previous experience) that we are not about religious rituals, rather a place where one can experience God personally and practicaly (have I converted you yet???:D) Just kidding. Hopefully this gives you a little more direction. Thanks a lot.
God bless,
Pastor Dave

Here are some similar church web sites that might give some ideas:

Saddleback Church (California) (http://www.saddleback.com/home/today.asp)

Northpoint Community Church (Atlanta, GA) (http://www.northpoint.org/index800.html)

Willowcreek Church (Chicago, IL) (http://www.willowcreek.org/)

This site is about the area of Wellington, FL to help understand the demographics:

Wellington, Florida (http://www.wellingtonet.com/history.htm)

Hopefully this helps you. Thanks again!

I'm going to close this thread since it has now been moved to the regular logo forum.
