What text should be included in the main part of the logo?

What type of product or service do you offer?
We are an online content provider which publishes media in various formats. Everything published is free, and all money is made from advertisments. The content is mostly humorous, though, our humor style is more dry humor and sarcasim.

How long have you been in business?
We are a new buisness just starting up, (one year) and we plan on releasing our website to the public by sometime mid june or july.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
A logo that leaves an impression and will be recognized instantly. This will be a brand identity for all our products. It should be easily identifiable, showing stability, personality, and depth.

What are your long term goals?
Our long term goals are to build a large media network encompassing a wide range of internet surfers.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
March 9th

Please describe your existing audience
Our primary audience is mainly internet surfers from the age group of 15 to 35 years old.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
We would like to have a logo that is Simple, Contempoary, Trendy, yet Distant and Sophisticated.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
No specific colors.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
We would like to see something that relates to technology or the internet, but we are open to ideas. :D

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
The logo should make the company look large and powerful.

What is your tagline or slogan?
Leading the industry standard of everything.

Where will your new logo be used?
The new logo will be used on our website, which we will design around the logo. Feel free to use gradients, reflictive or glass effects if you wish.

Thank you for the design.
I like version 1.1, but we would like to see a slightly more "corporate" feel to it. We would also like to see a slightly more simple logo style (sorry I must be making this difficult).

I am afraid the logo seems a little bit too busy for what we had in mind.

I like where you are going with the logo, but i am not too fond of the "S". Maybe you could replace the "S" shape with a symbol that has something to do with media or technology?
Also I would like to see some other color schemes other than black and red.

I think that design is much better, but still not exactly what we had in mind for the company. I am not too fond of the text or its outline. Could you try some different styles of text?

I like your 2.1 revision NHR, I will talk to my partners to get some more feedback. Maybe instead of a shadow you could do a small reflection, somewhat like in http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=54709&stc=1

I talked to my partners and they confirmed that they would like to see a reflection rather than a shadow, they would also like the tagline added. They like the circle but would like to also see the slice of it further divided in half, mabe increasing te angle of the slice and decreasing the space between the slices.

We liked your submission alot, and we liked the way you used the color scheme and reflections. When I was talking about the circle shape I was suggesting a correction to NHRs design. My partners would also like to see other symbols next to the selenti.com text, along with the selenti.com slogan.

I like both of your concepts, but I do not feel that they will work well if we were to use them on our website. I feel these logos are designed more for printed material and would not work as well in an internet enviorment, which is where our company will reside.

I'm sorry castell, I just don't feel your designs are appropriate for the paticular project I am doing. The logo will be a large focal point of the website, and I feel they require more depth and color.

We thank you all so much for your entries,
The desicion was not easy, and all the entries were very good. After discussing and arguing over different designs :D , we finally decided to go with thinkkre8tiv's design, version one.
We would like to see the following revisions:
1. Add the company slogan somewhere to the logo.
2. Chane the reflection below the black ball so it lines up with the ball. (the logo should look as if it is sitting on a shiny white surface).
3. Show some other color schemes (Possibly change the purple to a shade of blue/indigo)
