What text should be included in the main part of the logo?

-- I would like to include my name "Martin Sirkovsky". I am not sure if I want to use "photography by + NAME" or "NAME + photogrpahy" or just "NAME + photo". Just do what you think work best.


What type of product or service do you offer?
-- I speciallize mostly in Wedding Photography, but doing also portraits, and other photographic works. So the logo should not include clear wedding symbology in itself, so people will not get wrong idea, that I only take wedding pictures.

How long have you been in business?
--I am starting my business oficially this year. I took pictures of few weddings last year and getting more orders for this year. People seams to like what I do.


What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
-- Even I am new photographer and new person on the market, I would like that when clients see the logo they will know I am serious about my business and will provide professional services to customers. I would like to use it on my homepage, invoices, business cards and so on... After all it is a logo.


What are your long term goals?
-- To get known on local market, and also get oportunities in other areas of photography then weddings.


When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?

-- 10th of March

-- People which are about to get married. But I also do panorama pictures of landscapes which I usually sell to public offices.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:

What type of logo would you like?

-- Something simple but professional looking. The proportion of logo should be in ration about 3:1 or 4:1, I rather it be too long then too high (Lenght:Height). I would like have also some main element of logo which could be used itself without the text (logo within logo)

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)

-- I don't really have any specific color in mind. But I would prefer blue color, something like I use on my homepage (menu) www.msirko.com. I want it also to look good as black and white, and maybe two variation, which I could use as watermark for pictures. One for ligth images and other for dark images, so it will stand out from images.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

-- No. If there would be a hint that it has something to do with photogrpahy it would be ok, but it is not necessary. But please now bride & groom or wedding rings...


Where will your new logo be used?

--On everything what has anything do with my company.

--There are not really many and there is only one who has homepage. But it is in building process.

What sets you apart from your competitors?
--Mostly it is new aproach I do, don't really have any competitor so far, but also what I do is new for people that is why I must begin with lower prices then similiar photographers around the world ussually take. I am very friendly and personal, so ussually I get to know the people I take pictuers of before wedding and we cooperate together as friends.


State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:

--I will photograph what customers wish. Nothing is must, nothing is impossible.

Sure there is many other great logos I like, but I hope you got the idea of what I might like. Just keep it simple and stylish, and I believe you can create a nice work from what I saw at your forums.

Hello Martin.
The idea is to have the "m" included in a logo similar to the "copyright" symbol - and it can be applied to your photos as I applied it to the logo representation below.

I hope that I am not going to have very difficult time to replay, because it is difficult to express my own feelings.

I like the m in circle, but I am not sure if it fits to the font. I was thinking it would be nice if there would be something what show that it is photography business, but not something cheesy. But again it is not really sure I will go for it, but I would like to see that options.

You could also try some other colors, just forget about the blue and try anything you like. There can also be more colors, but not more then three. I would like that there would be both M and S included in copyright symbol.

I like the font, it could be something like this and I like how you placed the photography.

But because I don't really have any imagination in my head, I will wait for other ideas of you and others to see what I prefer.

You are also welcome to create something totally differnet, because so far I am really not sure what kind of logo will I like.

Pracus - I like the idea of MS combined in that symbol. I don't like the frame version, and I realized I would prefer a logo which will not have any obvious photographic symbols. I liked the first variant much more then the second, but when I tried to put just the symbol on a picture, it looked little bit strange, and it was difficult to notice. I think you could somehow try to combine the first and the second one. But leave the polariod frames out just use the curve of MS in some shape filled with color.

Ruairi - Thanks for new inputs. Could you try to make some MS symbol, but someway so it will not be so obvious that it is MS, someway that people will have to look for it in there for a while. I don't really like any of those three. I would like it to be more abstract.
I know I mentioned that I like the logo to be rather longer then higer, but I see that it would not be bad if the symbol would go over or under the text, or maybe somehow built in the name. I therefore give you freedom of the proportions, but I still prefer for it to not to be square but rather wider then taller.
I also prefer some kind of font as Pracus used. Something like the version 3 of yours, but without that small holes in charaters.

I am looking forward to new inputs, I hope I am not too picky. ;)

Ruairi - Thanks for new inputs. I like the new font which you used for name.
From all the new inputs I like most last one. But none of them I would use. I would prefer something more simplier, maybe something with simplier geometrics, less complicated shapes and lines.
But I really liked the designed you made here:

Pracus - I like the last version, but can you try to make some more variations. Maybe some where all the MS is in a shape, and also maybe some with different arrangments where you place the symbol in frot of text. And if you want you can also play with colors and maybe include one more color.

That was quick. I like it. The symbol appear too big overall to text, can you try to make it little bit smaller, and maybe try to place it somehow between Martin and Sirkovsky, or version where it is in front of text not over.

Time to answer again:

Rurairi - The version with symbol in middle is missing a connection. If you could do it somehow more connected, then you can try, but it is not necessary, I think it will be better if the symbol will be over the text or on the begining. I don't think that how it is now it will ever work in middle.
Could you try to use some different fonts. You can try to use also some sharper fonts, not just very smooth one.
I would also welcome some variation of symbol. It remids me of boat now, I don't know if it good or bad, because I am located at Faroe Islands and here is a lot of ship building and fishing industry. But I like the symbol, I am just little confused if it would be aprropriate. I would welcome some variations of symbol or also some new ideas.

Pracus - I don't like the color variation, I like the original one much better. Just forget the colors. Can you show me variation 4.2 in colors of 3.?

Titania - Welcome on board. I don't like the design. At first look it makes me think of eagle eye focusing on its prey. Can you try something else. Also just concentrate of making some simple abstract symbol of MS.

To all - is there any other way how the "photography" text could be placed? I just want to explore more options.

Thanks to you all for new inputs.

Ruairi - I must say that you did good job with this one, I like it very much. I think I would concentrate around version 12, though I like the orange "." over the "i" on version 13. But I like more the proportion of symbol in version 12 I think version 13 it too tall. Could you try to make some variation of #12 try to connect it more with my name, like you did in #13. Could you also try variation with "photogrpahy" under the name as in begining or maybe little bit lower the it is to make the logo more compact. I am thinking of having it on my homepage at top banner, but like this it would be too high. You can also try to place the symbol to ther right or left side.

Pracus - Generally I like more when the whole MS curve is inside the circle. I like the version #5.1, I like how you conected M and I together in my name, but I think that the my name is too dominant. I would like it to be little bit more subtle.

Titania - Thanks for new input, but it is still too rough and too obvious. Try to make the MS more hidden, like Pracus and Rurari did, that is what I am after in symbol. I think that I will go with straight lines in font, so some font of that kind.


PS: Am I allowed to shorten the dead line? How can I do it?

BTW :eek: it is getting difficult to decide which I one like, thanks for great ideas and your time. I appriciate it.

All of you can little experiment with fonts. I would like to see one version with some scripting font again. Sorry that I am such a schizofrenic. If it is not important to keep the deadline, I will try to decide latest on Friday.

Hello Martin,

here are some new variations. My opinion is that you should have your name written in a san-serif font (as I used in 17, 18 and 19) because the icon is curve based it somehow requires a non cursive font.

Ruairi - Can you try to create some modifications of the symbol, somehow that the M will be little bit more defined. As it is now it looks more like N.

Pracus and Ruiri - I would like you to try to design something new. I promise last time :cool: I am asking for this. I like most both of your designs. You could try to make the symbol little bit stronger (bolder) but not too dominant. Please try also show me the ideas of business cards.

Titania - Thanks for new inputs, but it is still not something I could use. The text of your logos is too big and thick and so are the symbols. I would like something more elegant, and simple and more sophisticated then just cirlce or square with the MS inside.

Bratt - It is nice idea the rose, but before I read your note, I saw the logo and it reminded me of flower or book shop. I guess because some book shop in our town use similiar logo. Can you try something differnet?

Eziey - I can say that I got intersted in your design. But I don't think I would go with it at the end. Can you also come up with something new?
