Hello all creative minds out there! I have a challenge for you all.
I need a logo. Simple, right?! You may start by visiting my site uBetSportz-onlinecasino.com (http://www.ubetsportz-onlinecasino.com) to see what is going on currently. You can use the site to get ideas and see all the many things we offer.
It will be used for online, print, T-Shirts, etc. Needs to be available for black and white as well as color. I prefer .cdr format but will accept any vector . I will follow up with an online banner ad contest once a logo has been chosen.
Challenge:
I need something bold, semi-professional yet fun, and trustworthy.
Guidelines: The logo needs to be as descriptive as the name.
I need something that (1) uses the term "uBetSportz" (notice the CAPS)
(2) emphasizes the "Z" or (3) has the theme described in the challenge. Each needs to use www.ubetsportz-onlinecasino.com somewhere.
You may choose to focus on 1 of the 3 or all 3. All 3 would be a bonus to me. Color needs to be predominantly green.
I welcome all questions about this contest. Questions create ideas.
Good Luck!

Winner gets $75 and first crack at a $50 prize for my online banner ad contest afterwards.
If you are interested in the contest please mention it here in the forum even before you submit an entry. I want to try to keep in contact with each of you. this will help me determine a deadline. The greater the interest the longer the deadline. Thank You!

Hello,
Nice challenge! I want to try something..Actually, I joined DesignOutpost on July 7, and I'm eagerly want to create. Unfortunately, I have some problems with my Corel, but Photoshop is still on, so I can help you with something close to your web site banner. So, what do you say?
Can we help each other in some way?
Gilles.
P.S. I can do more than one banner, so please let me know.

To all designers. I have an edited guideline. I will accept most formats, however, I prefer .cdr. Vector is acceptable of course. I will go ahead and set a contest deadline for July 28th. I look forward to the entries!

Thanks for the entry. It needs to be a little more involved. Please visit my site again www.ubetsportz-onlinecasino.com to see the logo that I myself created. I expect this contest to generate something different than what I have already. I appreciate the effort but keep rolling with it.
Sincerely,

Well, this is different than what you currently have--is it getting close to something you'd like? Any font suggestions?

Not bad...you're on the right track. I only created guidelines to give a starting point. Don't be afraid to think outside the box on this. Thanks, Julie! Keep it up!
raider15
07-15-2003, 05:00 PM
It's good...but doesn't quite scream " online casino, sportsbook, racebook"
The graphic should be able to stand alone and still be descriptive.
I know this is a tough one...I worked long just to create what I have now. It needs to be more impressive. It needs to have the feel of superiority like the way Ceaser's Palace and the Bellagio compare to Circus Circus. Make sense?
It's good to see progress.
Keep it up!
Thanks

raider15
07-15-2003, 06:10 PM
Thanks Julie! It's good but not quite where it needs to be. Seems a little flat. Its needs a bolder font and dice are on the verge of cliche for the industry. Check out ondarox's portfolio on his website. I like his style.
Maybe using the letters UBS for "uBetSportz" or using abstracts of the games (features, game peices, money, etc) or sports we offer. Remember not to be afraid to go outside the box. I'll know it when I see it and think "WOW". I'm excited about the talent working on this project.
Thanks,
Tyler

My initial idea :D
raider15
07-16-2003, 05:24 PM
Nice! Great design. However, I'm not crazy about the font. Try using abstracts form a sport or multiple sports, casino games or peices. I'm looking for branding that can be used with or without the name included, so make it strong enough to stand alone. Good work.

Very good! You're on the right track. Although,
I need a symbol that reflects sportbook, casino, or both. Go to ondarox's gallery and look at " balance" "Strunet" and "Canopy Skirts". ELKootcho's
"blue fox Labs" and so on.
Try it without the money and use the colors in the logo I posted here.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

07-17-2003, 12:33 PM
Here's a revised version of my existing logo. Not much different but still different. This design is obviously a type solution.
I like this but I want a symbol....that can stand alone......like mentioned before. The font for uBetSportz and the web address can change anytime anywhere but I want the symbol to be universal. If I need to explain more please let me know. Thanks

raider15
07-17-2003, 02:31 PM
Nice! You're headed the right direction like some of the others. I'm not crazy about the font but ...like I said It's not as important as the symbol. Give it some dimension. Try a symbol using UBS. Incorporate the colors I used in my last post.
Thanks for the entry. Keep it up!

Ladies and gentlemen of the Design Team. The contest holder would like me to let you all know there is no clear leader at the moment in this contest and it will be ending in a few days. You'll need to get your entries in as soon as possible.

WOW! GREAT design ondarox! I love the idea. It my be a little expensive to print, though. Could you try it with less detail and fewer colors? Maybe different shades of green , black, and white. Just an idea....doesn't mean it's a good one. I would like to see an attempt at it for your design. Also, the "u" needs to be lower case and the "B" in CAPS. Add a basketball?VERY good!
Thanks for the post.

Thanks for the entries.
1) JulieT and Huhhso: The designs just don't do it for me. Sorry, but it's just not giving me the "WOW" I'm looking for. Good ideas though.
2) 2square: Nice design. Try it with a different font. Incorporate more than the horse. We're much more than just a racebook. There's potential here so keep it up!
This contest will close to all new entries by this evening. All entries before then will be the only designs for consideration. Thanks

Which version did prefer #1 or #2 or do you want me to work on both.
Many thanks

Hello, 2square!
I like #1
Actually the font is not bad. Your concept is really good. Could you maybe do a similar design with a combo of sports in addition to the cards and horse? Or maybe put other sports on the other cards? I think we can get somewhere with this. Add black, dark green?? Good job...let's roll.

Yes, much better.
Here are some minor revisions:
1)The "S" needs to be a dollar sign like my existing logo.
2) Center the cards and name.
3) If you have a football and basketball sillouette, place them in the following order from top to bottom. Spade=Football, Diamond =Horse, Heart=basketball, Club= baseball.
4) Letters need to be a little closer together.
Keep it up! I like your design. But, keep in mind, I'm still interested in seeing the revisions on ondarox's entry. I want to make a decision soon so hopefully he'll have something pretty soon.
Thanks

Hey there, I was wondering what you thought of the design I sent in.
hi!
I reduced it down to shades of yellow and green

07-30-2003, 10:04 AM
Hello All,
1) ChristianSanfiel : Nice but it just doesn't grab me.
2) 2Square : I like the changes and don't have any revision requests.
3) Ondarox : Thanks for the design but I don't remeber wanting yellow in the design. Black, dark green, light green, white? I would like to see the sillouettes inside the box and use a different font for the name.
Idea...how about desinging a poker chip with all the elements?
I hesitate to ask this because I don't want it to drag out. If it's a problem let me know.
All of you are more than welcome to create your own idea outside of what I asked. Go to my site www.ubetsportz-onlinecasino.com and design what YOU think it needs as if it were your own site.

Hey guys!
Thanks for the post. Actually I do have plenty of time for this logo. I set the deadline to gain a little more attention. It seemed as though the focus was on too many other contests.
I will choose a winner from among the designers that sumbitted an entry. Even if it means doing something completely different than the first submission. So...I've got time if you guys have time. My fear was that it would drag out too long and take up too much of your time.
Ideas create ideas. One design leads to another and it all comes together in the end. I feel like I would already have a winner had I not limited the design to what "I" thought was ideal. All of you are the creative masters and I open that up to you now. See my previous post about where I want this contest to go.
Best of luck!

Ok, I thought about it and how about this? It's a little drafty but when vectored and cleaned it will look better. I just need to know if you like the idea.
The one with the balls around would have different balls from different sports.
raider15
07-30-2003, 03:24 PM
Pretty cool. I like the idea. Can you get the web address into the chip and give it some dimension? Also, try working it into the name ( behind etc) as well as stand alone.
Thanks
Christian
07-31-2003, 02:03 AM
Hey there! Here are final versions of the chip. Some inside edges may look edgy due to some resizing but they are smooth on the vector file. I need to know which chip you like better so I can then work it into the design, or if you want changes on the chip design.

I think the poker chips are up for grabs since the initial idea belongs to the contest holder. Obviously the design and layout needs to be different than anything previously posted but the fundamental idea is available to all.
You can use poker chips, yes. We're not anal about "first come first served" :P

Calm down guys!!! HaHa. Man, I'm getting some really good stuff here.
Where I stand now is I like 2Square's #5A and I also like the concept of FTIgraphix. I would love to have a combination of the 2. 2Square's poker chips in place of FTI's money with a different font. Is this a conflict of interests?
I took FTI's idea and created my own version to see below. I may have to choose 2 winners. So....last chance everyone......give it your all. I will make a decision on Monday.

They have rules to follow or they can risk being banned from the team. One of those rules is that they are not allowed to take ideas from each other. Not sure how we can come to a compromise in this situation.
Christian
07-31-2003, 12:23 PM
Here's how the setup would look. Some things might seem a bit edgy, and the chip has to be redone in a true 3d look but this would basically be the final form.
* :D I think we can all work together here without much problem, but a solid way of dealing with things would be good. Since there are various designs from different people I guess it could happen various times that contest holders would like to combine them.
raider15
07-31-2003, 12:48 PM
My point is that unless something else shows up that just blows me away I will make the contest an even $100 and split it between the 2 winners and combine the logo myself. That's the idea....not sure if that can be done.
OR......Someone busts out with the perfect logo by Monday night.
We're not far from perfect, mind you.
You all have the weekend if want it or need it!
Thanks again for all the hard work and good ideas.

Ok here's the deal I've spoken to Palmer (well not spoken PM'd him) he fine about it but thinks I'm mad, seeing I’m in a generous mood what I'm willing to do is pass the Poker chip file over to FTI for him to come up with the perfect logo, FTI can take the original prize money and the rest..well if you want, make a donation to DO.
Honestly I'm not bothered about getting anything out of this so long as you get the logo you want..
FTI if your happy with that (which I think you will be) then just PM me and I will email the file, it was done in Freehand so I can save as an .eps.
That Ok with you raider?
Cheers

Why not just split the cash? Afraid it'll push you into a higher tax bracket?
raider15
07-31-2003, 01:33 PM
Hey guys,
I just want to do the right thing here. I WILL decide Monday. As of this moment I would like to offer $50 to 2Square for the use of all files with the chips and playing cards and $50 to FTI for use of a similar layout...much like what I posted earlier.
I want FTI's idea and 2Square's poker chips and cards. From there I can use them however needed. Is that reasonable?
This is what I will do unless something major comes up between now and Monday. And believe me it would HAVE to be major.
Hope this helps.
Palmer, let me know what I need to do to uphold my obligation if we come to this conclusion
Thanks everyone. The bleeding will end soon. HaHa

Well I'm fine with making it $100 and splitting the prize money if they are. I'll need you to deposit the additional $25 the same way you deposited the $75. You'll need to go to the following page and put 25 in the box and click next... http://www.designoutpost.com/post.htm

Wow, just read all this. I wouldn't feel right taking all the money, especially using part of 2squares idea. So yeah, I'm fine with splitting it.
How would you combine these two together?
Thanks
raider15
08-01-2003, 09:01 PM
If it transpires I will choose both. As far as combining them....don't worry about it. If you want to take a stab at it and possibly solidify the win...be my guest. You may create something I haven't thought of. I like FTI's concept and 2Square's poker chips and cards.
I actually made a revised version of your logo, FTI, and it's posted in this stream. I would want 2Square's files to use myself. I do have graphic capabilities to manipulate them as needed. Either as part of the logo, part of an ad, etc. That's kindof where it stands until Monday night. So we'll see how it goes.
There's still a chance that something will come through from the other entrants but it will have to be something spectacular.
Take care and enjoy your weekend.

OK guys! I want to thanks all of you for your hard work and talent. I am officially closing this contest and declaring a dual winner.
Congratulations to FTIgraphix and 2Square!
I will be combining the artwork and will post a final logo for you all to see. I would hope that both winners will use the final piece in their portfolios...assuming it's good enough to claim as thier own.
Thanks Again!
