Hi Guys,

I'm looking for three 468 x 60 banners - One animated in Flash, One animated GIF, and one static.

These are for the Motorola unlocking software that I sell using my website http://www.cell-unlock.com . I'll be using these to advertise on Forums etc, so they should be eye-catching, slick, and have some nice text/graphic effects.

Some text that I think would be good to include on the banners includes (you don't have to include all of these in every banner):

"Unlock your Motorola cell phone"
"Constantly updated with latest models"
"Active customer support forum, guaranteed unlocking"

I don't have any graphics that I specifically want used, though you should have a look at my website www.cell-unlock.com (and also http://www.motounlocknow.com ) for some ideas. It should be quite clear from that our service is for unlocking motorola cell phones.

Hi Guys, and thanks for all your submissions. Sorry I was a bit slow to respond, I've been a bit busy recently.

Ok, I'll take each person's work one at a time.

Bursal - I like that you have highlighted the text quite well in the static and gif banners that you have made. However, the color scheme that you have used doesn't really do much for me...I'd like to present a view of a much cleaner site than what your banner's color scheme seems to show. If you play about with the colors and change some of the bubblier fonts, these could look really good. A flash version of the banner would be great also.

Anne - Your static design is very nice, and I particularly like that it is quite a clean design. However, the white-on-orange text doesn't really stand out very well, and maybe working on using some more emphasizing text effects for keywords such as Motorola and Unlock might be a good idea. Also, please change the images to be photos of the latest models, like the SLVR and the V3x/V3i and the RAZR. I look forward to seeing gif/flash designs from you also.

Bogglins - Thanks for your flash banner. I really like the color scheme and style of your banner - but I think it could use some work to emphasize the text, and maybe also highlight the most important keywords. The image of the lock opening might work a bit better if it were somehow made more clear/obvious. Also try to use the newer models (SLVR, etc.) in the animation, and perhaps emphasizes the "unlock your motorola..." text a bit more than the other frames.

Sorry I'm quite picky on these sorts of things, I suppose I have some sort of hazy mental idea of the type of design I want. Anyway, I look forward to receiving your next submissions. Also, I extended the deadline by a few days to give us a chance to get some more ideas and make some alterations.

Hey Guys,

Thanks so much for your second round submissions.

Cursal - The static banner looks much better than before, but I still don't like the style of the yellow star behind the center text, so maybe try something different there. The animated gif banner also has the same problem. Fix these, and maybe play a bit with both a bit and see what you come up with. I think I actually liked the way the text was done (and also the grey background) from the last animated banner more.

Bogglins - Your animated banners were definitely better than the last round. However, the way you have highlighted the text with the underline really doesn't work for me. Maybe try something a little more graphics based for that. And the flashing text doesn't really appeal to much, even though I know it is eye catching. I think out of the two animated banners I prefer the second one.

Christian - Thanks for yor animated gif banner submission. I like the basic design, and I particularly like the way you have highlighted the "Unlocking Guaranteed" text. However, the "all the latest models" is both not very noticable, and also not particularly exciting text. Try animating the text a bit, and generally animating the whole thing a bit more - I'm not a big fan of the lightning bolt-type animation on the right, at least not on it's own. And also, making the phones images a little clearer and maybe including some sort of unlocking symbol might be good. But I definitely like the basic color scheme and design.

Anne - I would definitely like to see some more static/animated designs from you. I hope you are still interested in making some contributions.

Great work all round though, I look forward to seeing some more improvements in this next version. I hope that I can start narrowing it down so that we can close this project. Seeing some flash banners would also be great.

I'm really sorry about my absence guys. I had to turn in my thesis project, and then I flew back to California from the UK.... Anyway, I really want to wrap this project up very soon, so let's get a couple more revisions and flash ideas in, and I'll choose a final design.

I'll be advertising in http://www.themotoguide.com/ so perhaps try to get the color schemes to match that site. Anne, I think your design doesn't need to much change to match that site.

Also, have a look at the Unimoto banner in the MotoX site http://www.motox.info/ - It's quite simple, eye-catching, and includes lots of phone models. The smart clip banner is also good.

christian - I don't really like the dark background of your banner, or the door design. Perhaps try to change it a bit, and make the phone models more prominent. I do like the animation you have used for the text and phones though...maybe try to work on creating multiple frames for the animation as well.

Anne - I really like your animated gif design. Perhaps you could make a model that includes a few more of the cell phone models as well? I'd like to see a flash design as well, if possible.

Bogglins, Cursal, I'd like to see some more designs from you guys as well. If any other designers have ideas, then I'd like to see those too.

Once again, I'm sorry for not posting in a while. I really hope to get this project wrapped up soon.

Christian, I really like this new design. It's simple and clean. The only change I would make is to show the border of the thing a little clearer, in case it is used on a white background. The orange site looks fine, but the white side blends into the background a little. See what you can do. Also, I'd like to see a static and flash design following on from this idea.

Anne, I still like your design, but I think it's getting a bit busy. How about having the cell phone image on the left hand side changing, and eliminating the one in the middle at the moment. This might clean things up a bit. Also, I don't like that the text goes white/light orange, it can't really be distinguished from the background when it is like that. And maybe have just one piece of text, which changes, rather than the two seperate texts at the moment. This would also help clean up the design a bit. A flash version would also be great.

Hi Krishm,

I like your design because it is quite well-organized and eye-catching. But it isn't quite as simple and clean as I would like it to be. Also, phone model image changes a bit too quickly.

Much better Krishm, I really like the static design, and the animated banner just needs to to be slowed down a bit.

The flash design is nice, but flash is pretty amazing, I'm sure you could do some really interesting graphical and text effects. I really enjoy slick flash graphics. Also, slow down the image swapping speed for the flash animation, and add some more images than just the two.

Here's are some quick onwhite variations, while I work on the other two. The one without a border actually comes out unusually good looking and different in my op, but provided bordered ones just for variation. ;)

To be honest I think i prefer the middle one. Maybe if you continue the orange/dot border up the left hand side, and put dots on the white/orange border at the center, it'd look even better. If that doesn't work too well, try doing just a grey/orange line on the left edge.

Good. I like it a lot. Only problem, the spacing of the text beneath the "Unlock your motorola", just put an extra space between the dot and "unlocking guaranteed :).

Now the flash and gif animations. For the flash, go for a simple design but with some cool text/graphic effects.

Great work christian. I really like what you've done - just the sort of things I like are in there. Not many changes I can really suggest...maybe the white intro for each frame is a bit much? maybe just use that once, and try something different for the different frames? And maybe add a frame saying "Click Here Now" at the end? Otherwise, I think we're good here.

How about putting some emphasis on the RAZR, SLVR text in the gif animation when the frames change? that'd be real nice :).

KrishM - Good work, I like your design. It's quite clear and well done. But maybe try playing with the flash animations, and instaed of the "click here" button, put a frame in the animation that has this text...that'd clean it up even more.

Great work KrishM, I really like those two designs. The flash animations are done very well too. I'm not sure the jagged lines around dividing the middle section really work so well though. Other than that, I'm really happy with this design.

One more thing KrishM, perhaps try using some different phone models, since one of them is quite old. Try the V3x, RAZR, SLVR, and PEBL models for the right hand side.

Here's the new version! Added subtle changes all around the design but didn't want to really change the setup since it stands pretty solid as it is clear and effective. I'll be waiting for your thoughts. :)

I like the flash banners just as they are. If you could add a link to http://www.cell-unlock.com and produce a few versions with different color-combinations, that'd be great.

The static banner you did looks alright, but please move the "Click Here" text to the center of its button, as it is slightly offset downwards at the moment.

The animated banner looks nice, but if you could slow down the speed at which the frames change then that'd improve the readability a bit. Also, the text efffect for the "Click Here" button could be improved a bit.
