We are looking to design a new logo/brand mark for Village Kids Learning Center.
I feel that the survey below aptly describes what we are looking for, as well as any applicable business history.
Overall, we’re looking for a first-class logo, that tells a story, yet is still simple and not too cartoonish. I want something as timeless and respected as Starbucks, but as fun as Nickelodeon (Nick Jr.) or ‘Dora the Explorer’.
The designer should also submit a stationary package (letterhead, business card (2 sided) and envelope), along with their logo. I want a complete, unified visual identity.
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Village Kids Learning Center
What type of product or service do you offer?
Childcare, Daycare, Pre-K
How long have you been in business?
1 year
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Create a distinguishable brand mark, something that can translate well from signage, to stationary and uniform apparel
What are your long term goals?
Expand the business by leveraging the logo to build a strong local brand
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
March 18
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Young parents and their children
Who would you like to add to your audience?
Wealthy young parents
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Fun, youthful and iconic, combined with a professional, trustworthy image.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Blue, green
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
One theme may be to have a child in a knight’s armor, with a shield featuring educational imagery (books, toys, blocks, animals etc).
Other options might include a focus on exploring, creative, nature, safari, and learning.
You can view a photo of the building below. Note that it’s a Tahitian style building, with a hidden temple vibe. I think the focus on exploration and learning will suit it well.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Creative, artistic, gifted, advanced, professional
What is your tagline or slogan?
Give your child a smart start (logo should not include tagline, may be okay to use on stationary).
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
The best childcare and early learning, in a fun, healthful environment.
Where will your new logo be used?
Signage, business cards, apparel
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Little Blue Schoolhouse…very homemade, very amateur
List competitive URLs if possible
http://www.littleblueschoolhouse.com/
What sets you apart from your competitors?
Professionalism, focus on exploring and learning, quality teachers and in a fun, exciting space. Christian background and values.
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
exploration
