[Project Complete] Bottle Label Design - $110

(Admin code added by Palmer - 4DG216521A253043E)

Hello!

We need a label for a bottle with our product – a pipe joint lubricant (installation branch).
<o:p></o:p>
Here is a link with short info in English about what a pipe joint lubricant is:<o:p></o:p>
http://www.wmharvey.com/prod/cat2/lubr/pjl.php

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PROJECT<o:p></o:p>

No. of colours: preferably 2, would be great to see a 1-colour version, too. (we are thinking of printing the label directly on the bottle in some time)<o:p></o:p>
Label size: 78mm (height) x 172mm (length) ß the label is nearly as long as the circumference of the bottle.<o:p></o:p>
Bottle dimensions: see the attached drawing – please note all dimensions are given in millimeters.<o:p></o:p>
Bottle colour: untransparent white<o:p></o:p>
Design: The product is directed towards simple, construction people and the design has to be well ‘legible’, unsophisticated, simple, eye-catching, vectors only, no shades, not overwhelming, non-serif fonts. Has to stand out of the crowd ie. competitive products. A photo of a product of our main competitor attached. Our design has to be better in terms of VISIBILITY/APPEARANCE on the shelf. When a buyer looks at the shelf, he has to see our design first and then the rest.<o:p></o:p>

In the photo, there is our bottle (left) and the competitor`s bottle (right). Ours is a bit taller, but seems slimmer even though it is not. Please create the design that makes the bottle visually thicker and bigger than the other one.<o:p></o:p>

Besides the name “XXX”, we would like our bottle design to contain some sort of a symbol that matches a word “lubricant”. We came up with a banana skin. Basically, we want the buyers` senses to react to our design even faster and hopefully, when they forget the name, they still ask for “the lube with the banana”. <o:p></o:p>

Bar code: the bar code no. is XXXXXXX and has to be in EAN-13 Industry Standard Format (with no bar code Add-On)<o:p></o:p>

Others: please add all of the recycle and content symbols needed. The bottle is made of PE.<o:p></o:p>

Below is the info that has to be on the label (you will probably have to use Central Europe fonts). ONLY and ALL of the red words are going to appear on the label.<o:p></o:p> The rest of the text below is just for clarification of what is what and why

Basic info visible on the front of the bottle:<o:p></o:p>

Name of the product: XXXX (we have no trademark for that, so please feel free to design the name on the bottle the way you want – it can and has to be simple, non-serif).<o:p></o:p>

Description: <o:p></o:p>
XXX<o:p></o:p>
Joint Lubricant<o:p></o:p>
Gleitmittel<o:p></o:p>

Contents: <o:p></o:p>
250g<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
The rest of the label:<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
Product description and use in different languages. Please Arrange in the same order. Country symbols preferably in circles:<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>Ingredients:<o:p></o:p>
XXX<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
About the producer:<o:p></o:p>
Producent: XXXXXXX<o:p></o:p>
XXXXXXX <o:p></o:p>
XXXXXXX<o:p></o:p>
XXXXXXX<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>
Atest info:<o:p></o:p>
XXXX<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
Production date:<o:p></o:p>
Data produkcji: 07.04.2010<o:p></o:p>

Expiration date:<o:p></o:p>
Okres przydatności: 2 lata od daty produkcji

<o:p> --</o:p>
We are offering more than the required minimum for this project and we would also like to receive editable files included in this price. We would like to be able to change minor things like production date, contents, ingredients, barcode etc. ourselves, because in the beginning we are going to make digital printing of labels.

Thank you for taking time and reading this long stuff

Hello Pracus,

Thank you for your submission.

We like the overall look of the design. We really like the "waves" and country symbols embedded into them. The name font looks good, too. What we do not like is the fact the XXX is somehow cut in half horizontally and then one part shifted against the other. Can we see the XXX inscription without that shift, just plain fonts?

Also, could you please work more on the banana symbol to make it resemble the banana a bit more? It has to be an instant "match" If you know what I mean.

The bar code needs to be rotated 90 degrees as bar code readers might have problems reading the code wrapping the bottle. We have had such problems before.

Once we make those small corrections, we would like to see some other colours configurations and maybe enriching of the bottle "face" as it looks quite modest now (which is not necessarilly bad, we don`t know yet )

Overall, great job and we cannot wait to see more

Matt

OK, here is the revised version.
Overall I must add that I am a big fan of modest and clean graphics in packaging design and marketing. It usually shows the class of the products.

Hello again,

Thank you for the changes.
Regardless of what you wrote, the name now looks much better to us .

The banana skin is better now, but we feel we still need to work on it to make it even more obvious.

Thank you,
Matt

Thank you for your comment, Matt.
Actually the name's effect (cut and slide) was just one more thing to make the brand memorable and to connect it with lubricant characteristics (even if it is not clear to anyone who look at it -- well... actually it never is, even when the symbol is obvious there is always someone who doesn't get it ). You know -- to emphasise that pruduct is so good that even your name skids
But I will drop it of course.
Will post revisions yet today.

hello,

This try is best. Using the 2 colours made it look more natural. Anyway, it is still not how we see it.

We only have 2 colours to work with and I agree it must be hard to draw a perfect banana skin. Can we drop the banana skin and try to draw a banana half-"naked" If you know what I mean.

Thank you for your efforts.

Matt

Oh yes, now there is no question. This is a banana and nothing else

One thing that worries us is that it looks too sophisticated (too many lines etc.) compared to the rest of the project. Can you try and make it a bit simpler? Also maybe without the top part of the skin (the top-most skin "stripe").

Thanks, Matt

We like #15 best and we accept the look of the banana.

Anyway, please move the website address back to the place where it was (we liked it the way it was). If you lack space, you can make the "data produkcji" and "termin przydatnosci do uzycia" info smaller - we do not need them big.

Also, please add the recycle symbols that we asked for in the requirements. The attached .ai file might be helpful, but instead of PP we need HDPE like this one here:

Thank you.

I also think it's the best choice.
Please tell me what type of files do you need?

As outlined in the requirements, we need editable files. Corel files If possible, please. If there are special fonts, we need them as well.

Thank you.

Yes, I needed an information about the software type.
There is a classic Franklin Gothic typeface family used for text on labels. According to the license I am not allowed to send it to you (not to say that this typeface family is pricier than this label project ).
But I believe it is a part of Corel's Graphic Suite package and if you have the original CDs it should be there.

Anyway I will send the files today
Is Corel Draw X3 or 11 enough or do you need some other version?
