[Due Mar 12th] - Logo Design for design template website - $175

(Admin code added by Palmer - 2236168131720091D)

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
"Design Deity" for sure. The tagline: "Divine Design for Photographers" is optional.

What type of product or service do you offer?
Design Deity will be a website that sells photoshop templates and other design elements to professional photographers. The site will incorporate the work of multiple designers.

How long have you been in business?
New biz

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Appear visually interesting, appeal to both photographers and designers

What are your long term goals?
I would love to be the etsy of design elements created for the professional photographer

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
March 12

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
New project, they don't exist yet. They will eventually be photographers, many who are starting a new business who are looking for branding materials, or experienced photographers who want new marketing materials, photoshop templates, ect. My secondary audience are designers who would like to contribute work to be offered up for sale. Most of the designers are likely to be photographers who do their own graphic design.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
Photographers who create their own pieces and would like to sell them to other photographers, designers who would like to market to photographers, and photographers who would like to purchase designs.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Seems the photography industry is really interested in grunge patterns/backgrounds right now, so I'm open to that direction. It's the direction I'm currently going, however I'm pretty open minded to taking the site a whole other direction if I find a logo that sings to me. I think I'd like the logo to be more horizontal or landscape in orientation to work well with web design.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Right now, I'm leaning towards this color scheme:

Which is: 850504, ASA2277, FPF8E4
I think I want the logo itself to be the red color.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Not necessarily. Here is where I am at when starting this project:

To get this I was inspired by:

However, I'm not married to this design and am free to go ANY direction.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Creative, attention to detail, slick-looking

What is your tagline or slogan?
Divine Design for Photographers

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Appearances are important. We've got the goods here.

Where will your new logo be used?
Primarily at the website: http://designdeity.com Also in banner advertising on photography forums, a version will also be used on Twitter, Facebook and other social networks. Almost exclusively online.

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?

Some are good, some not so good. Because it's a website-driven business, it kind of depends on how well they incorporate it into their site.

List competitive URLs if possible

http://www.buttonsandbowsphotography.com/fittoprint/
http://www.beyondredandgreen.blogspot.com/
http://announcingababy.com/

What sets you apart from your competitors?
One difference: this will be a collection of many designers' offerings. So it's a service to designers as well as photographers.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Creative

It's kind of lonely in here. I had a logo done about a year ago and loved the Design Outpost experience. After posting my deposit this time around, I see multiple threads that don't get a lot of attention unless the client demands it. Is that necessary?

Um....maybe get to this one first, then me. Wow!

I updated my info to include the new tagline: Divine Design for Photographers. Without seeing any samples, I'm ambivalent whether it's included in the logo or not.

Thanks for the designs, NHR and Xpressions!

NHR, I feel like the font is a little vanilla for me. I'm hoping to get something just a little more edgy, elegent, creative or .... something. I know it's not intended to look this way, but the second color kind of comes off as a drop shaddow or bubbles, which isn't really what I'm going for. I do like the proportions of it...like I said , I'm looking for a horizontal layout for use on the website.

Xpressions,
I like the direction of your design. I like the look of ink spatter. That specific font--though significantly different--reminds me too much of Scriptina which is way overused. I guess it's just the whisps that have a very Scriptina feel. Also, I think I'd like it if the whisps were more horizontal. By taking up so much depth, it will drasticly reduce the font size in the end product.

Thanks, guys.

To all designers:
I'm pretty capable of finding a font I like and putting it down as is. The winner will likely be the design that takes the font and manipulates some aspect of it in a creative way so that the characters interact with each other well specific to my logo. That said, just got back from defont.com where I grabbed this (long!) list of fonts I like:
