Hi all,
Just wanted to check if there's any interest in doing this, as there are no replies yet? If there's something in the description that doesn't make it work for you, please let me know and let's discuss.

Hi,
Do you mean you can only deliver a PSD or you can deliver an HTML site, but without CSS?

I can live without XHTML/CSS, but I'd really need HTML, as I don't know how to cut up and convert a PSD to HTML properly.

Actually, I was need 3rd party to do html/css, so better in the future the client connect with them directly, and client may reduce the prize let say $100 if I win
I hope Palmer agree with this?

If that's possible, then I agree - if only a PSD is delivered and the price can be reduced by $100 that was allocated extra for the HTML/CSS coding, then this can certainly work.

Yes, ( to admins) if possible let's make it like this - $500 for only the PSD or $600 for a complete site.
Looking forward to your proposal

Hi and thank you for the design!
Overall it looks good and you've picked up on the concept of the software well
The top blueish background is beautiful on its own, but I don't think it works with the simple and clean design I'm aiming for. I would also try without the gradient inside the menu. I think there need to be more white areas to make the site look a bit less cluttered.
Thanks!

Thank you for the new design - it's certainly moving in the right direction
I think the second design is a good base for further tweaks now - it's close to what I need.
I do like the top bit of the first design with the child/mom and the text better, but the orange hue of the second image's face works well too. It'd be great if the top header (child/mom and text) could be applied to the second design and perhaps they could be in a similar orange hue. The first design's TV and laptop also work better for me than the second design, perhaps with a minor tweak - the laptop may look simpler if it faced the visitor instead of being at an angle and it'd be great if it had a reflection.
The colors of the second design are good - no need to change anything there.
The menu and the logo look great. I'm not too sure about the font for the title though - a simpler font, that goes together with simple strokes in the kangaroo, may work better.
I'm also not sure about the download cloud - I think it takes up too much space/importance. Perhaps a simple, elegant "Download" button would work better. I like how it's spread on top of two sections though, so please keep that It'd be good to place a "Buy Now" button below it as well.
Thanks again!

Hi Dennis,
here's my idea along with some notes:
- I've used some content from SDS, but it's just as placeholder
- the "Features" icons are also placeholders and can be changed
- please, let me know what additional content you want to see on the mock-up.
Thanks,
Vel

Hi Vel,
Thank you for your designs - they both look good! My comments are a combination of the two designs
I like your idea about the title font, but I'm not sure that it works in italic (I assume it's italic, as it looks slanted a bit). It does go well with the style of the kangaroo, but perhaps we can try without a background and without italics and see if it's better. Or a similar font altogether, but the idea is interesting...
I like the three feature points and the tab for more features in the second design, but I'd prefer first design's style for the top bit with the large graphic aligned with the logo and menu. The graphic on the first doesn't have as much impact as the darker one of the second one though, so I prefer the second one's more bold style. The overlay with the "download" button on the first graphic works well though, so I'm not sure which I like best
I think that the site will need to have borders on its sides (like your first design). Basically, the first design doesn't have enough of a punch for me - it's clean, but perhaps too clean - it needs to be a bit more bold, have more contrast, if you know what I mean

Hi Vel,
Thanks for the new designs.
I like #20 the best, but it still feels too corporate for me and I'm not really fond of that image.
Can we try the following on it:
1) Please change the "KooRaRoo Media" font to something that doesn't have the hand-written style. I don't mind the interesting curves, but hand-written just doesn't seem to work for my taste.
2) Add a bright blue background for the menu (I guess make menu text white) and it'd be great to tie it in somehow with the logo and the text.
3) For the central image, I'd prefer two smaller images - one of a family enjoying something and one of a TV and a laptop (see #11 - those images are very close to what I'm looking for). It'd be good to have a reflection for the TV and the laptop and let's try the laptop facing the visitor, not at an angle. We're not finalizing images here, right? I'll go through istockphoto as well and see if I can find something that I really like, but just stick something in there for the moment.
4) The central image should also be within the site's bounds, let's try the same style as you've done in #18.
5) I prefer the blue download button style, but with lots of blue elsewhere it may work better in orange. I guess overlay style from #18 will work better with two images, since it doesn't take up as much space and you can place a family on the left and the TV/laptop on the right or vice-versa. I like how the TV sticks out in #11 as an idea
6) I like the three feature bullets and the orange bookmark in #20, but let's try to make it more bold - perhaps a bright blue background to tie in with the menu, logo? It basically needs to make a statement and those three points will describe precisely what the program does. Most people probably won't read anything else on this page. The simple icons (#20) work well, so please leave those there.
The rest of it is fine, at the moment
Thanks again for your work!

Hi gig,
Thanks for your design.
It ticks a lot of my boxes and I like how it looks and feels.
A couple small things that we could try, if possible:
1) Please make the title "KooRaRoo Media" (or "KooRaRooMedia"), as the capitalization is meant to help users understand how it's read and pronounced. All lowercase looks good, but with a complex title it's best if we help people understand how it was intended.
2) For the top graphic, can we try something like these people: http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-pho...php?st=d15b9fd on the left, then this to the right of them: http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-pho...php?st=b6cdbed and then your TV and the image on all four devices would be the same? I like how you've done people jumping out of the TV, as it suggests 3D support, but I'm not sure I'm fond of them flying their fists like that (I know it's sports emotion, but...). Ideally if we could grab a video shot from one of the latest movies or series and place it in all four devices with the one on the TV jumpig out like that, that'd be great. You don't have to do it now, as it may be a lot of work, but please let me know your thoughts on this and if your design is choice is this something that can be done?
3) In the middle graphic with devices, we'd need to drop the disk and PSP as they are not relevant to the software, but replace them with something else. Again, this can be done later, as the general idea is there and I think it works well as a separator.
4) Perhaps we can try highlighting topics ("Highlight Features", "News"...) a bit, as the font is currently very thin (although it works). I don't know if this will improve the look or not, as I think it's ok now, just something to try
Thanks again for your great job!

Hi, thanks for the feed backs! It helps me to improve the design. This is the improvement of the design based on your feed backs, and by the way everything is possible to be done if you choose my design ;-)
About the couple image, I need better image that not blurry but I don't find one yet in istock :-(
thank you!

Thanks for the update - it looks good! I agree about the couple image, so it's only a concept now. I'll also go through istock later to hopefully find something.
I'll get a second opinion on it in the morning (it's night time here in Australia now), but to me your design is the closest to what I'm seeing myself as a site.
Without the woman on the floor, I'm not sure the floor now works, but we can do something about it if your design is chosen and we find a better people picture.
Also, perhaps we can try the top devices with a small reflection to see if it works? Thanks!

Ok, I've talked to some others and gig's latest design is what we'll be going for (plus a few alterations and of course the inner page).
Thanks to all who participated!

I'll try to find a picture to replace the people in the next day or two and post back here with it. If you come across one that you think will work, please let me know as well.
Once we get the picture in, we can look at the background, but I don't mind it as-is, but let's get all graphical elements in first.
We also need to work on the second page
Also, do you have someone to convert this to XHTML/CSS?

Thanks for the link - I'll check him out.
The inner page should contain same/similar elements - the only thing I'm not sure about at the point is the top graphic. It should be different or should not be there, but if it's not there, then the menu will move to the top, which may look strange. I guess we need to try and see what happens
