Australian-Filipino Community Services

What type of product or service do you offer?

We are a non-profit community services organisation that helps Filipino senior citizens, second generation Australian-Filipino youth and newly arrived migrants.

How long have you been in business?

21 Years. We are currently known as the Centre for Philippine Concerns Australia.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?

We have recently decided to change the name of the organisation (after 21 Years) to better reflect the growing participation of the Filipino community within mainstream Australia and to promote our organisation to a new generation of Australian-Filipino’s.

What are your long term goals?

To promote and expand our services to Australian-Filipino’s, increasing new memberships and encouraging broader participation within our community.

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience

Mainly Filipino’s who migrated to Australia approximately 20 years ago.

Who would you like to add to your audience?

Whilst we don’t wish to alienate our current audience, we do however want to attract the younger generation of Australian-Filipino’s who in the past have had very little involvement with our organisation. We also wish to attract new Filipino’s who are migrating to Australia and who may need assistance with adjusting to life in Australia.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?

A professional looking logo that is easily recognisable and visual appealing. A combination mark logo with both text and symbol/icon (maybe?).

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)

Red, Yellow, Blue, White (Colours from the flag of the Philippines). They would be colours that are instantly recognisable to our audience.
We would prefer no ‘rainbow’ effects

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

Please no animals in the logo (especially Kangaroos or Koalas ). Perhaps use of the organisations new acronym AFCS. Maybe some use of the star from the Philippine flag.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?

Modern, approachable, inclusive and uniting.

What is your tagline or slogan?

None.

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?

We are here to help Australian-Filipino’s and help build our community.

Where will your new logo be used?

Web sites, business cards, stationary, advertising material (poster etc), clothing & vehicles.

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?

No competitors to speak of, but other service providers do work with our clients. Most community organisation have similar themes in their logos so we are keen to have some original ideas.

What sets you apart from your competitors?

We are focused on serving the Australian-Filipino Community.

Hi glyphica,

Thanks for starting things off. We like elements of both versions. The placement of the star in version 1 is great but would it be possible to change the star to the sun element from the Philippine flag (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_Philippines). When we first posted we said "star" from the flag but we meant to say the "sun". Sorry.

We would prefer to see the CS added to the end of the AF in the first version. But we like the way Australian-Filipino Community Services appears in version 2 (to the side rather than underneath).

Finally we would prefer if the colour of the letters in AFCS did not appear as they do in version 2 (blue red blue red).

Hi Taldo,

Thanks for your design. We like the AFCS and use of the sun but are not keen on the red person in the logo. That type of logo element is used a fair bit in the community sector and we would prefer not to use it.

TO ALL DESIGNERS - We feel that are first post may have made the scope of this project to narrow. As such we would really like to see what other ideas for our logo you may have. We really don’t want to just see variations on the AFCS theme. Feel free to use different colours and elements. Perhaps using the full name of the organisation instead of the AFCS? Any ideas you may have for our logo would be appreciated.

Thanks for submitting your design. I’m afraid it is not really the type of design style we think would work well for us. Do you have any other ideas?

We like this design more than your other previous designs, but could we possibly see it with just blue in the sections left and right of the sun and yellow in the center section?

Hi Taldo,

We really like version 4 & version 6.

Version 4 is very professional looking and balanced.

Version 6 has an intersting balance between the logo element and the text. Could we possibly see that version with the top element (sun etc. more centered with the text). It would really help us to decide if that version works.

We will be wanting to make a decision on a design very soon. If anyone else has anything to add please do so now.

Thanks to both of you for your efforts. We have decided to go with the design by Taldo - Version 4.

Taldo could we ask to see that design with the "community services" text in bold (so that it stands out a bit more)? If we see that then we can make a final decision (bold or normal text version).
