We are a brand new company (this week in fact). We provide blogging consulting services as well as actual “blogging” to companies. The company is being founded by Darren Barefoot (
www.darrenbarefoot.com) and Jeremy Wright (
www.ensight.org) mainly out of recent press around their eBay auctions (
www.ensight.org/auction for one of the auctions, and see here for the CBS Marketwatch piece:
http://cbs.marketwatch.com/news/story.asp?guid={D354F4C4-3F69-4ED4-9471-1C93CF7A9712}&siteid=mktw).
Our current potential clients are Fortune 500 companies all the way down to newer ventures and small businesses.
Ideas about the company that the logo might convey are 'communication', 'plain speak', 'better communication with customers', etc.
We’re looking for a logo which is “new”, “fun” as well as “clean” and "modern". Something that shows that blogging is new and alive, while still appealing to clients in all sizes of business. It’s fine if it’s a little bit “cheeky” and funny, but nothing too cartoony (unless you can make it work). Samples of logos that work along these lines might be:

In terms of what the logo is comprised of, we're open to suggestions. Try to avoid obvious communication symbols, such as pens, phones, papers, computers, etc. We discussed the possibility of having an animal or humanoid mascot (as in the Napster or Clevercactus cat, above), but we're not married to that idea. Another possibility is a modern take on an old broadcast device, such as a loudspeaker or stand-up radio. Those suggestions aside, we're definitely open to ideas.
In terms of colour, we're wide open. Obviously 'new' and 'fun' may imply bolder colours, and we're happy with that.
If this works out we’ll likely ask the designer to do a template if they are interested as well.
The contest will last 1 week and will close on December 9, 2004.
Many thanks in advance for your efforts.
Jeremy and Darren
