Due Apr 14th - Character for a fan website - $200

(Admin code added by Palmer - 1VC84893PC299132X)

Hey there!

We are in the process of developing a website for fans of the tv show called xfactor over here in the UK. Xfactor is basically like pop idol/american idol - in fact it was setup by Simon Cowell as well and he is also a judge in the show along with Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh.

Anyway, For our fan site we need a character/mascot to be developed. For now he can be static, but eventually we would like to get him animated and doing different things on the header of the site.

The template that he is going to be featured on is at http://www.mattgeri.com/template2/index3.html on the header. If you need more graphic space to work with, I can increase the header size.

Here are some of our ideas that we have for the character, but keep in mind you can be as creative as you like - we are open to all ideas!

- Male
- Huge Afro!
- Funky glasses
- Slim body with a bit of a fat belly popping out.
- Bell bottoms for pants (http://image.www.rakuten.co.jp/sunko...043849224.jpeg)
- A large belt
- We also kinda like the idea of a big head small body type thing. But not too small cause we want to animate his body eventually.
- And whatever else you feel like :-)

An idea of the type of characters we like are:

- http://www.hostingfrog.com (This was actually a friend of mine who got this done on Design Outpost)
- http://www2.meegos.com - Some of these characters are cool
- http://www.frogdrops.com/Images/Cart...uy%20faces.jpg

Our audience will be mainly a younger crowd. We are open to all funky colors on our guy.

This will hopefully be a fun one for you guys and gals to work on and we look forward to seeing your awesome work!

Have a great day!

Matt and Mike

Hey Mehmet,

That is a great start.

Could you make the edges of his hair a bit curly. Any chance you could also put a microphone in his hand? Could you also make him stand in a more natural pose for now? Maybe his arms folded or just at the side of his body?

Other than that, he is great. Thanks for your entry in this contest.

Anyone else gonna give him a shot

Hey Mehmet,

Thanks for your work so far. We like him a lot.

What we would like to ask is if you could start a new character - without taking any of our advice posted in the original post and come up with your own ideas for him. Whatever you can think of.

We would like to compare what you would create without our guidelines to the character that you developed with our guidelines.

Be as creative as you like. Maybe the one guideline we would give is that the character should be "cool" but also "not cool". Just like a normal guy off the street with a little bit of class Something that the visitors to our website will remember as "the x factor guy from xfactorchat.com". Something that we could print on mousepads, mugs, tshirts etc.

Thanks so much for your very awesome work so far!

Matt

Titania: Thanks for your entry! That is an interesting character. Not quite in the direction I was looking for. Maybe you could add a little depth to him?

Mehmet: Thanks a lot for all your work on this contest so far.

Here's my go at it. I haven't had time to polish it yet but needless to say if chosen, will polish it up.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all your hard work! We have decided to run with Mehmet's character.

Hey Mehmet, thanks for your character! Could we get a few changes done on him? Right now we dont feel he is as memorable as we would like him to be. Maybe play around with his glasses, Maybe change around a few of his facial features? Whatever you think will make him a little more memorable. Awesome work so far

In second version, he has same mouth and glasses type but he has a round face.He also has a different shirt with star texture instead of circles.

My favourite is this last one.He is still cool but also has some cuteness which is important for a cartoon character.

Hey Mehmet,

Great Revisions. We like the second guy. We love the goatee and glasses! We are not too sure about the eyes, can you make his eyes a bit bigger, similar to the first guy you did for us, but not that big. We would want his eyes open because we are going to get him animated for the webpage and one of the first animations we want is him standing still and blinking.

Awesome work!

Hey Mehmet.

Great work. We prefer the small eyes to the large ones. So we would like to go with your second last design (Version 5).

Looking forward to getting the files! Thanks again!
