Wow, thanks for all the design submissions! I was away sick yesterday so I haven't been able to go through each design thoroughly yet. I will spend time looking at each one today and give some feedback a little later.
Thanks again for all the great work!

Once again, thank you for all your submissions! I know that each logo takes time and effort to make so I'm grateful that each of you spent your energy making these logos.
Sparkie: The idea of eye-popping or eye-catching is cool, but the eyeballs don't really fit with what sitepop's business is. I would also perfer not having the symbol and typeface mixed in together. See my design comments at the bottom of this post.
ElKootcho: I like your logo. The symbol was not what I envisioned for sitepop, but you did a good job of making the whole package look nice, that's why I like it. My main reservation would be that it's not exactly what I had in mind. See my design comments at the bottom of this post.
wwwzone: simple conservative design. I would prefer not having the symbol and typeface mixed in together. See my design comments at the bottom of this post.
Chelle, 2square and ejlain: I like your designs very much, they are eye-catching, but unfortunately the logos are not fitting for the type of company sitepop is (I would definitely want this style of logo for something hip, fun and playful though!). Ejlain, your slogans totally cracked me up! See my design comments at the bottom of this post.
Hypnosis and dynagirl: We're getting closer to what I'm looking for! Hypnosis, I like #1 best of all your logos (I like the 3D SP symbol, but I'm not sure if I'd use it for a logo). What attracts me to these logos is your use of a 3D-style symbol and a 2D-style font. I think that makes a logo look great! See my design comments at the bottom of this post.
Taldo: Same comment as Hypnosis and dynagirl for your logo. Love the font you used. I especially like the square 'O' with the dot in it. The spring above the 'O' makes it look a little like an exclamation mark. Was this intentional? The spring is nice because it adds a 3D element to a 2D typeface, which I like, but I'm scared that the spring may look too much like a tornado, which could make the logo a little confusing. I'll have to think about this logo a bit more to see how it can be tweaked.
Design comments:
I tried to be detailed about what I was looking for in a logo in my initial post, but I realize that I wasn't as detailed in the actual design of the logo as I should have been. Here are some extra guidelines that may be helpful to you in making this font.
As I see these logos and look at other logos that I like in print and on the web, I know that I'm looking for a 3D-style symbol with a 2D-style font. Examples of such a logo would be
http://www.hostrocket.com
http://www.connxus.com
http://www.dpreview.com/
I say 3D-*style* because the symbol doesn't have to be "real 3D," meaning, the gradients and lighting effects that you would use in a real 3D graphics program aren't absolutely necessary, but instead, the symbol can just be 3D looking (for examples of what I mean, see the logos in the links above).
Also, the logo should help identify what business sitepop is in, which is Internet/web services. It would be helpful if the logo could be moderately "techie"-looking and/or modern. This might be achieved by a techie-looking symbol, font, or both (but just don't overdo it).
Thanks again to all the great designers who submitted logo designs!

After seeing several spring designs, do you still want more springs or are you looking for something different?

dynagirl, I still like the spring idea, but it also has to fit with the design criteria in my last post. Your last design was a good 3D symbol with 2D text, but it didn't really convey what business sitepop was in (technology related). So what I'm trying to say is go with the spring if it can fit the criteria. If it doesn't fit, go with something else.
Raja, I woke up this morning and saw your first submission. Let's just say that I'm glad that you posted a "more serious" one shortly after (don't get me wrong, your first logo is nice, but just "off") . Anyways, I like the symbol you created for the second submission, but I think the text needs a bit of work. I'm not sure if it's the color or the italics, but there's something about the text that's not fitting.
Thanks for your submissions!

To summarize what I'm looking for (I know people don't want to read through three pages of posts to figure this out):
1) 3D-looking symbol with 2D-looking text
2) a logo that looks *moderately* tech-like and/or modern to convey that sitepop is in the technology business (web hosting and web services). To help with this, a web page template layout was posted in the very first post of this thread to help get a feel for how the site may look like and how the logo may fit.
3) preferably, the logo's symbol is separate from the text
I've posted some links to logos that I like that are similar to what I'm looking for in previous messages.
In my opinion, Hypnosis, Raja and dynagirl have been closest to following the above three things in their logos. Let's see if there's anyone else that wants to try topping their work!

dynagirl:
If you have the chance, can you go back to your first logo submission on this thread (orange mood 1-C). The logo is very eye-catching. Is there anything you can do with this logo to make it fit the above three criteria any better?

Hey,
Is this contest still going on?
I made a couple test logos for this one to show in my temp portfolio when I applied for the design team, and thought I'd post them if this one's still active.
Thanks

Hi Adil. Nice designs!
I like the second logo you submitted, but there's a lot of the same blue color in it. Could you make the text colors and the symbol color a little more distinct from each other? It would also be nice if the symbol could stand out a little bit more. Right now it seems to fade into the background, I'd like it to stand out so that the symbol could be used on its own without the text and still be distinct and eye catching eve without the text.
Thanks for your submission!

I know this contest should have ended a few weeks ago, but I've been trying to find a logo that I like that also suits the goals of the business and I've been having a really hard time doing this. I've spent days on end looking at several logos trying to see which might fit best, but haven't been totally satisfied with any particular one. So I apologize for not choosing a winner yet.
I also apologize for not leaving feedback for a couple of the final submissions. I was under the impression that after the contest end date that I had set for myself I just had to choose a logo in whatever form it was in rather than working on revising it into something more suitable. Palmer recently corrected me on this.
I apologize especially to the designers below who worked hard on submitting a logo, but didn't get any feedback from me. If you still are willing to work with me, I would sincerely appreciate any further submissions that you could make.
For what it's worth, here is some feedback for the last few submissions:
Coredesign:
For the symbol, the way you've put together the S and P is very creative, but I'm interested in something that helps symbolize what sitepop is all about so I want to stay away from the letters in the name. On a separate note, the font used for the text is a little too boxy. Something a little more refined would be nicer.
Raja:
I like the font you used for your last design. It's also a good size, but the 3D pointy brackets symbol doesn't really work for me. I can't fit it into anything that sitepop is about. Is there a different symbol that you can think of that may fit a little better?
Eagle:
I like your work here. The font looks good and I like how you've used varying sized rectangles to create a subtle 3D effect. In my mind, the rectangles may represent different (web) sites that have been created and are (as cheesy as this sounds) popping up at different stages. However, I was hoping to be able to separate the text and the symbol so that the symbol could be used on its own without the text. Can you think of a way to do this? The symbol would have to somehow either be separate from the text (I.e. on the left or the right of the text) or be "detachable" from the text. Can you find a way to create this separation?
dynagirl:
This design is a variation of one of your first submissions that I requested. Thank you for following this request. There was something that really caught my eye about your first submission that I'm trying to explore a little more. Can you put the symbol on the left of the text (instead of on top)? If you have the time, can you also try keeping the ring of the symbol in the same place, but tilt the center arrow part so that it points up more (the ring and the center arrow will then be at different angles)?
Thanks!!

I was beginning to wonder whatever became of the Sitepop contest, so I'm glad to see you're back! Thanks for the feedback. I'll work on a revision of my last design (the suggestion you made was actually something I had contemplated, so I'm looking forward to the challenge of doing it).

Adil (Elements):
I like what you've done with the symbol by adding that extra edge to the rings. It gives it a little more depth, nice work. Can you make the symbol look a little less like it's toppling over to the side and a little more like it's bending to the side? I'm not sure if this means making the big ring smaller or angling and/or shifting the middle ring over to the left a bit, but to me, the symbol looks like it's moving a little too far over to the left. Also, can you change the colors to see if you can fit the logo in a page that looks like this (in the "companylogotype" area):
Thanks!

Hey, glad you liked the add-ons.
I've revised the logo making the rings look a little less "tilty" and changed the colours to fit into your layout. Let me know what you think.
Thanks!

Pennyln: Thanks for your submission. My comments on it would be the same as what I had for Chelle, 2square and ejlain's initial submissions: I like your design, it's eye-catching, but unfortunately the logo is not fitting for the type of company sitepop is (I would definitely want this style of logo for something hip, fun and playful though!). I'm looking for something that is more professional and less playful.
Elements, dynagirl: Thanks for your submission. Still considering the logo...
Coredesign: your logo is very clean and professional looking. It's simplicity and professionalism looks very nice. The problem I'm having is trying to picture it fitting in the website template that I've posted up on this thread, which is keeping me from considering it as a candidate for the sitepop logo. Can you make it fit into the template?
Eagle: Thansk for your submission. Still considering the logo...
Mute Design: I looked through some of your previous work and you have some really nice designs. Unfortunately, your sitepop design submissions don't fit my criteria. See my first post in this message thread (page 1) and the 7th post from the top on page 3 (under "Design Comments") for a better idea of what I'm looking for.
Thanks everyone!
