(Admin code added by Palmer - 24892R)

Hi,

We have a number of conservatory related websites (of the greenhouse / sunroom variety - not the school of music type)

We will shortly be developing a new site at http://www.conservatories.org

We need a logo for this website. Our other conservatory related websites have a commercial focus - we accept advertising and make most of our revenue from running a contractor matching service.

This new site will be more of a noncommercial effort, basically being a directory of helpful listings for conservatory owners and buyers worldwide. We will not be accepting paid advertising and all listings / links will be personally chosen and vetted by us for quality and reliability.

You can view two of our commercial sites at:

http://www.conservatoriesonline.com
http://www.conservatoriesonline.com/featur...stallations.htm
http://www.conservatoriesonline.com/featur...tallations4.htm

http://www.conservatories.com

http://www.sun-blinds.com

The logo for ConservatoriesOnline has been uploaded. While not essential - a logo that complimented this logo would be one possibility.

We have not set ideas on colors or styles - we open to suggestions. Normally we would use one of our own designers to come up with an idea - but on this occasion we felt we would like to come up with some new and fresh. That said, we are looking for bright / cheerful coloring - not the darker colors.

We do not have to include a tag-line with the logo but if we did some suggestions are:
"Conservatories for life"
"helping conservatory owners and buyers worldwide"
"for some good advice on conservatories"
"for conservatory advice and help"
"the perfect living space"

We are happy to receive other suggestions.

We have no deadline for this competition - basically we would like to chose a design as soon as possible - before then end of September ideally. If we felt we had seen enough examples and there was something that appealed we would end the competition sooner than the end of the month. Hope thats OK?

I have to say, we are very impressed with what we have seen in the forums. Clearly theres a very talented bunch of people here. We look forward to your submissions.

Prize $100

If you have any further questions, please be in touch.

Good luck

ConservatoryGuy

Hi, conservatoryguy were you going to be using this logo also for print or just the web?

Hi Juneau

A very good point. This is mainly for web - however we may need a tiff version of logo - we attend a lot of exhibitions and its likely we may end up using it in print there.

It will not however be used in a letterhead or similar

Red face

Here is one concept using a theme that relates to all your sites.

Concept:
When you said you were going to have quality links that were reliable, I wanted to
use a theme that showed structure as being organized when there are millions of
websites out there you need some way to organize and keep track of them. The logo also represents the sunrooms/conservatories.

I also wanted to use orange yellow & green to match your sites and for there
representation of plants, windows, flowers. Including people of different nationalities.

Let me know if this is what your looking for?

Hi Juneau,

Our initial reaction is very positive, its not our usual sort of thing but it does catch our eye and after all - we are looking for something different. We like your "concept" also.

Difficult to make any suggestions for changes / improvements its a possible design - one we will consider seriously.

Hi Eagle, we find the top one sort of appealing - unfortunately overall - not as "warm" and "homes and gardens" as we would wish. If it was purely a sunroom we where featuring this would not be far of the mark. However what we are promoting is a conservatory - these tend to be somewhat grander and more ornate that sunrooms.

To see an example of the types of conservatories we are ptomoting look at http://www.tanglewoodconservatories.com/ht...l/gallery_1.htm

Great conservatory architecture invites you to linger and enjoy its rich details, fanciful embellishments and sensuous curves. Thoughtful design and craftsmanship takes time to create, and enjoy.

best wishes

ConservatoryGuy

Thank you Raja

Yes, its got a .org feel. Quite like it but can't say its really got me going. Prefer "landscape" type logos, the germination image may look better if it was to the left of the text? No sure, just an idea.

Thank you everyone for your contributions. At this stage - JUNEAU'S very first contribution is the one thats closest we feel to what we are looking for. Its not perfect - but the concept and feel is getting there.

Raja's second entry is quite good - and certainly a possibility - even though its quite different to what I indicated above. We do not however like the "dark" shades of green. Look at the lighter of the "greens" at http://www.greenmediatoolshed.org to get a feel for shades we like. Also the "brown" shades for earth didn't quite do it either. We see where your coming from - more of a botanical approach!

pennyln - your design also has possibility's - however we want a "landscape" logo and as it is at present we don't feel it quite works.

Its very early days in terms of the design of the site - but we have been "playing" around with ideas today - and a vert, VERY rough version of something we may explore for site style / navigation can be found at http://www.conservatories.org/devel/index2.htm

Thank you again - everyone - for your contributions. Sorry, I can't be more positive at this stage.

Thank you dynagirl, thats another great design. Maybe it will be our "new" favorite - I will have to see what my colleagues feel. Certainly its very close to what I had in mind personally.

We are probably going to run this competition another 48 hrs or so. (I expect to post on Monday a final time for submissions) So if any of you out there have been holding back to the last moments, nows the time to submit.

Thank you all.

We have some nice designs here now, thank you all. I'm just going to run this contest another 24 hrs thats until 08.30 GMT - Tuesday. Any late entries welcome.

I have to say - dynagirl, you are just about leading the field in terms of what we like best so far. We like the colours and the simplicity.
