Nov 21 : $350 : Shout Research

Admin code added by Abby - 6KR01148BK2991251

Shout Research Logo Specification

Logo for www.shoutresearch.com

1.0 Project Summary:

Shout Research is a start-up company in the field of Internet market research/audience measurement. It is primarily a consulting firm, offering customized research for particular clients, however it may offer commodity products at some point in the future.

2.0 Audience Profile:

There are two target audiences for our company and both must be accommodated.

2.1 Corporate Clients

Shout Research targets its products and services to the marketing departments of major web properties (think Yahoo, New York Times, Amazon). This audience is professional, web-aware, and extremely knowledgeable. They already use one or more of our potential competitors.

The most important characteristics Shout Research must portray to this audience are professionalism and expertise. The company must not appear as a commodity service, but rather as the expert in its particular niche. The company should not have the 'cutesy' feel that many Web 2.0 companies do.

2.2 Consumer Research Panel

Shout Research collects market research data from a panel of Internet users. These panelists range from savvy and technologically sophisticated to basic 'email and Google' users, but they all interact on the web, version 2.0.

The most important characteristic Shout Research must portray to this audience is trustworthiness. Shout Research should also appear to be hip and trendy, but without going overboard. The company should not feel impersonal, cold, or uncaring.

3.0 Perception/Tone/Guidelines

We have no specific images or colours in mind. We realize that 'shouting' may appear to be a natural theme, however we would like to see alternative designs.

4.0 Communications Strategy

The current tagline is 'Collaborative Audience Measurement', however this may change in the future and does not necessarily need to be incorporated into the design.

The logo will be used on the corporate web site, business cards, and other printed materials. The logo does not have to fit with our current web site. The current site can be changed to accommodate the new logo.

5.0 Competitive Positioning

From a corporate clients perspective (section 2.1) our competitors include comScore (http://www.comscore.com/), Nielsen/NetRatings (http://www.nielsen-netratings.com/), Hitwise (http://www.hitwise.com/), and Quantcast (http://www.quantcast.com/). None of their logos are particularly appealing to us.

Our prime differentiator will be the depth of information we offer and the amount of time dedicated to solving a particular client's problems.

From a consumer research panelist perspective (section 2.2) our competitors include StumbleUpon (http://www.stumbleupon.com/) or Cluzter (http://www.cluztr.com/). Again, neither of these logos are what we're looking for.

Thanks for the submissions so far.

freetime - Interesting ideas, however I'm not sure that they project the professional/expert feel that we want to give to our corporate clients. I'd also prefer the two words to have equal weighting/size.

LutFi - That's a nice minimalistic design. Could we also see something with greater complexity?

Thanks,
SR

giant - Those are creative ideas, but they don't have the professional feel that we're going for. I'm not sure if a bugle accurately represents us, and the graphic has too much weight. The colours of the text in your first logo are appealing though.

djaka - We'd like less done with the text and more around some sort of graphic/emblem.

All,

Talking with coworkers, we'd like to see some designs with an emblem or graphic of some sort to the left of the text. Possible themes include 'making your voice heard', 'standing out from the crowd'. But we're open to the creativity of the designer as well.

Thanks,
SR

Idea: A simple memorable and meaningful icon. Mouth wide open (shouting) and a magnifying glass. It can also be a punctuation mark or something that emphasize sound or a shout.

Deanna - that is an excellent design. Can I see it with slightly softer/lighter blues & greens? Perhaps some shading in the image and a gradient in the text to make it a little fancier?

Bojan - That's a nice start. I'm not sure the exclamation marks are unique enough for us. Can you try some other ideas out?

Rongen - That certainly is unique! It might play well to some of our panelists, but I don't think it would be appealing to our corporate clients. Can you try something a little more conservative?

giant - I like the idea of the stylized letters. However, I'm not sure it speaks to the image we're trying to project. In particular, it is a little too strong for the trustyworthy quality we want to project.

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback.

Version # 3.
Here's the revisions with 'standing out from the crowd' theme.

Thank you

giant - That's a nice logo. Could you make the image smaller and place it to the left of the text? Can we also try it without the 'sound marks'?

Lutfi - Can you make the 'head' that is standing out a little bit more prominent in the colour version? Maybe add a little bit more feature-wise as well, although still retaining the minimalism of the circles? I also like what you did in your version 1, could you find some way to combine versions 1 and 3?

Thanks,
SR

rongen - I like the simplicity and the professionalism. Some of the feedback that I've been getting is that the 'head' is perhaps too angry looking. Would it be possible to soften the expression some?

LutFi - I really like the direction we're going. The concept of an audience is very much in line with what we're thinking. However, it's a little too cartoonish at the moment (maybe the eyes and mouth I requested don't quite work). The 'explosion' around the o looked better when it was by itself. Could you soften it a little bit or try something different?

Thanks,
SR

Trying for the corporate/professional feel w/ both these.

+voiceprint ties in to name and also alludes to a graph (statistics/finance)
