[Designer Chosen]Due Nov 6 - $200 - Magazine Ad
(Admin code added by Palmer - 5YG88928DE8925111 , 8KB44909AE910521N )
Hi all, this contest is on a rush deadline. I won't be able to extend the deadline, so please don't delay.
The text content and graphics for the ad can be found here:
http://www.printaudit.com/temp/BLIFM.zip
The award graphic should be prominently displayed and make up a good portion of the ad. Put it on some kind of an eye catching background. For an idea of our current corporate colors please look at this brochure:
http://printaudit.com/downloads/pdf/...r_Brochure.pdf
I've included color and black & white versions of the Facilities Manager logo in the zip. You can use whichever one works best in your design.
Ad Specs:
Trim Size: 8" x 10-3/4"
Bleed Size: 8-1/4" x 11”
and
Full Page (with bleed): W 8.5” x H 11.125”
I will need it in both of those sizes as a high resolution .tiff.
Thanks!

I wouldn't stick as close to the design of the brochure. You should use similar colors, but not the same design. Can you come up with a background that's more eye-catching...perhaps something that plays on the award theme.
Thanks.

Also I would use the darker green from the brochures, rather than that lighter one from the logo.

Here's 2 variations [the award is angled in version 2]:
Please let me know what you think.

Jeremy, the layout is not bad, but can you leave the award logo unaltered? Also, do you have any other ideas for the background?
Thanks

First, just to have as a comparison, here's the existing ad with the unaltered logo. I'll post some other background ideas later.
Thanks,
Jeremy

I'm not crazy about the marble background. You can change the award logo if it's something simple like adding shadow.

I think it's important to emphasize the award. And a good way to do that is to make the background fairly simple. The copy and the graphic stand out really well against the black. I did ad some lighting behind the award and a subtle reflection underneath to give it some depth. Take a few steps back and take a look. If you'd rather have something a little more involved, please let me know.
Thanks,
Jeremy

That's better, I like the background, but I'm not crazy the color of it. I'd prefer to use blue instead of black. Maybe the bottom could be a dark blue and the top could be a lighter gray. Also I like the reflection effect, but I don't like having the text on top of it because it makes it hard to read. Maybe you can change the angle of the reflection.

El Kootcho, I prefer your design in #3. A couple things to try: Try making the background a bit darker. For example, see the blue they're using in these last 2 designs in this contest:
http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/...t=14558&page=2
Can you try left aligning the 'To celebrate our...' sentence.
Thanks.

That's the wrong ad, I meant the one before that, with the all blue background.

That's better. I think you could still left align the 'To celebrate...' sentence. I'm not crazy about the green you're using... I know it's from our brochures but I've never liked it You could try the darker green we use on the brochures or some other color. Thanks.

I've switched the green to a yellow to give it some "pop" - a darker green simply gets lost against the blue in my opinion.
Can you explain what you mean when you say "I think you could still left align the 'To celebrate...' sentence." That sentence is left aligned now. I must be misunderstanding.
Thanks

By left-align, I meant have it start at the left side of the page. You could do the same with the big sentence on top of the page.

Jeremy, that's better, I prefer version 5. How would it look if we had the mirror effect fall behind the award (if possible), rather than in front? That would give us more room at the bottom. I'd like to have more room at the bottom to make the Facilities Manager logo bigger.
El Kootcho, could you try making that orange text a bit more yellowish? I like the glow you have around the award graphic, but can you make it a bit more round, particularly at the top. I'd like to be able to make the Facilities Manager logo bigger. You could make the award logo a bit smaller if need be.
Thanks.

Jeremy, are you doing a revision? I have to get this wrapped up by the end of the day, so I can get the ad in by tomorrow.

Elkootcho, keep yours as is for now, I'm thinking about it.
Jeremy, can you also change the price for Platinum to 75 cents. You forgot our contact info at the bottom. Maybe you could move the 'To read the full report...' sentence to the right bottom of the award logo and put the contact info below the Facilities Manager logo.
