Template for Golf League website PSD only ($500) - Due Nov 28th

(Admin code added by Palmer - 1YC22641NY902104J)

Company Details

1a) Name of Company: www.netGolfLeague.com

1b)Company Tag Line or slogan: Our website makes it quick and easy for you to manage your golf league online.

1c) Do you have a company logo? Yes, see attached logos.

1d) Do you have a corporate visual identity? Yes, see the two logos attached. We are not married to the green in the logo although we associate green with golf.

1e) What is the nature of your business?: Briefly describe your products or services:

Why use netGolfLeague to organize your golf league
- Calculate handicaps, team standings and statistics automatically.
- Track and analyze your performance over multiple seasons.
- Access golf league results real-time, upcoming events, individual statistics and more anytime on the web.
- Chat in your private golf league message board.
- Quickly inform your golfers of rain-outs, event updates and more using our email notification service!
- Share photos in your private golf league photo gallery.

1f) Who is your target market? Who are you hoping to reach with your site?

Golfers in Golf Leagues. Specifically, the league administrators (secretaries) use our service to manage the league for their golf league.

Website Details

1b) Do you have an existing website? If so, what is the URL? www.netGolfLeague.com

We have spent many hours on SEO and have moved up to a good spot in Google. We don't' want to mess to much with wording of our front page. (ie. menu items will pretty much stay the same and the text will also).

2b) IMPORTANT: Please list at least 3 URLs of high quality sites that you like the look of. Please consider layout, colors, navigation, graphics, and typography.
  • www.highrisehq.com - Like the idea of a big screenshot of a league's homepage. Also, the obvious way to sign-up or create a trial.
  • www.alsacreations.fr - Like how part of the graphic flows out of the box.
  • www.igoogle.com - Like the dropdown menus for the widgets. (only golf league admin would have that)
3b) What colors or color schemes would you like? Golf colors (probably going to be dark blue, dark green, tans.... etc). The color of our logo and we are flexible for the other colors.

4b) List the Navigation links for your Site:

5b) What type of look are you trying to achieve? Our current design is very blocky/edgy. We want to soften this up and make the site feel polished. A clean web 2.0 look.

6b) Please provide the addresses of competitors' sites, if possible:

- Search on Golf League in Google

7b) Do you have any images for use in the design of your site? If not, do you have images, can you offer suggestions of what you type of imagery you feel would be most suitable for your website:

Deadlines and Deliverable

1c) What is the deadline for your template design? November 20th

2c) Will you require HTML coding? Yes

3c) If so, will you require it to be ONLY CSS layout? No

4c) How many pages coded will you require delivered? Single Page + One Interior Page - HTML Coded

Home Page (1st page)

We want to freshen up the homepage while keeping the good SEO we have achieved.

We want to keep:
  • ability to log in
  • ability to sign-up
  • wording
  • links at the top/bottom (integrate into new look)
  • screenshot of the new league home page

We want to add
  • our logo to the header (2 have been uploaded)
  • section for NGL rotated content such as:
    • Random Golf Course with NGL Record on that course.
    • Welcome XYA golf league from Texas
    • Congrats on John's eagle from abc golf league!

League Home Page (2nd page)

Navigate to our beta website to see a sample league homepage as it looks now.

- URL: beta.netgolfleague.com
- Login ID: JoeGolfer
- Password: JoePassword

Here is a sample of our League Home page: http://www.netgolfleague.com/Images/...HomePage_2.jpg

We want to keep
  • League name and season (ie. Tuesday night hackers 2008)
  • 3 column layout
  • Widgets/panels Work with look?
    • rounded corners.. color change, etc.?
    • Integrate Edit/Add/View buttons
  • Two levels Menus (The menu options won't change, but the look needs to)
    • Website (ie. Sign-out, Help...)
    • League Specific (ie. Home, Reports, Schedule & Scoring...)
  • Links at the bottom (ie. About Us, Privacy, ...)
  • We need this page to take the full width of the screen because of the amount of data.
  • Hyperlinks need to be obvious. (ie. Each golfer name is a hyperlink)

HTML REQUIREMENT REMOVED

In General: The News sections are not articles. It will be a list of recent items that are happening within netGolfLeague and the leagues that use our service. It will be used to keep our home page more dynamic than static. The most recent 3-5 items will be displayed.

Anne - Thanks for you design.

Feedback from the partners:
o We like how you used the round logo
o Headlines section: Can you try something new with this section? This section will probably be about half the size and be text without pictures.
o Try a different look with the menu at the top. Maybe it needs rounded or something near the ball at the right. It looks like the menu is peeling off the page.
o On the bullet items: (to eliminate the extra lines)
o Remove (unlimited golfers)
o Remove (see Feature List for comparison)
o Could you try incorporating the black swoosh part of our logo with no wording into the golf ball?
o Try different background color

Elena - Thanks for your design.

Feedback from the partners:
o Try the login and menu at the top of the page similar to espn.go.com
o Add the Buy Basic, Buy Premium and 21-Day Free Preimum Trial buttons
o Make the Headines stuff less prominent. We envision this section having about 3-5 headlines at any given time.
o Can you try a different colorset.
o We didn't care for the logo on top of the screen shot.
o Overall we were looking for a more free-flowing, less boxy look.

Hello,

Here is my concept. I went for a clean, web 2.0 style. I've also designed it so everything can be textual. Including the large banner area. I wasn't sure of the actual style of the content for the News section so feedback on that is helpful. The design itself can be 100% fluid or keep the content area sized to 980px.

Well, I decided to forget about my first design. It's really too boxy. Instead of that, here's another version from me.

Here is my concept:

I created a design that will have your clients telling their friends about your website! I'm happy to mock-up a subpage if you like how things look, and want to see how a subpage would work. For the main page I went for simplicity, and a unique, distinct design. I kept information down to a minimum, so as not to overwhelm your users and in order to stick with a web 2.0 feel. The user is encouraged to try your product or to move into the main site and find out more about it.

My Design

In general, I've been getting feedback from people I've show that think our long logo says 'etGolfLeague.com'. That doesn't helps us out since we are 'netGolfLeague.com'. For those that used the long logo, can you give a shot at incorporating one of our round logos instead of the long one to see how that looks? Or sneak an 'n' in the logo...

We are pleased with all the designs. Thanks for your work. I'll
have feedback tomorrow night.

thanks,

- Mike

Hello,

Here is a revision of the design with the "n" inserted into your logo. I also added a "View Feature List with Screenshots" area.

Thanks,
Pamela

Dear All

Thank you for your great efforts and many designs over the last two weeks. The partners really appreciated the quality of the choices. One thing we found is that less information is sometimes better on the homepage.

We have narrowed the field down to the following four designs with some comments:

Clink - Message #21
o Replace 'Why not try our 21 Day Premium Trial' with a testimonial under the screen shot.
o Change 'Manage your game' to 'Manage Your League'.
o Change '21 Day Premium Trial' to '21 Day Free Trail'
o Need all links from our current footer at www.netgolfleague.com
o Remove LOGIN: text and change submit to 'Login' and see if a Forgot? link fits up there somehow.
o Can you see how the black round logo looks without the white outlines?
o How does it look to tilt the screen shot?

Aliska - Message #17
o Remove LOGIN: text and change Enter to 'Login' and see if a Forgot? link fits up there somehow.
o Can you reduce the bullet items to 3-4. We want to see if this makes it more readable.
o Remove golf balls from the buttons.

Anne - Message #16
o We liked the headlines section from your first post better with the pictures in it but using the rounded corners and green.
o Can you move the ball in the upper right in front of the menu line.
o Reduce buttons to two. "Buy It" and "Try It" and move them back under the picture.
o Can you reduce the bullet items to 3-4. We want to see if this makes it more readable.

Pamela - Message #23
o The partners like the top section but would like to see the middle section reworked if possible.
o Can you reduce the bullet items to 3-4. We want to see if this makes it more readable.
o Need more impact on the Buy buttons. Could use just two if that helps... Buy It and Try It.
o Add Forgot? to the password area

We would like to see your design for our League Home Page (2nd page) as explained in Message #1. Please login and get a feel for the content. We would like to keep the banner slim with probably no graphic. Also, if you had suggestions for the icons on the Setup and Options pages, that would be great.

Thanks for everyone's hard work.

Mike

Here is an update with the changes you requested. As I mentioned, I made sure to keep the design "textual" since SEO is important to you.

Thanks for the feedback,
