[Project Complete] Nov 5 : $200 - Logo For Wedding Photographer

Admin code added by Abby - 64M25045YX961041R

Hello,

I am in need of a logo that represents the image and brand I want to convey to my customers and prospects. My business is wedding photography. I want to convey an image of art, beauty, love, romance... everything a bride would be looking for in a photographer - which is what I am to deliver through my pictures. I think I would like something in a pink and chocolate design. I really like scroll designs but I am open to lots of ideas because I honestly have no clue as to what I want. I look forward to everyone's ideas and thank you with your willingness to help.

Project Summary:

What text should be included in the main part of the logo?

-Happily Ever After Studios

What type of product or service do you offer?

-Wedding Photography

How long have you been in business?

-Start-up company

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?

-I hope to portray a professional and artistic edge that helps people to overlook my newness to this business. I also want to look fresh not dated - but keeping along the lines of classic style and beauty.

What are your long term goals?

Long term goals are to establish a well known photography business in Eastern PA - particularly the Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley areas. I would eventually like to open my own studio, but that would have a completely different identity as this logo is strictly for wedding photography.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?

November 12th

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience?

-I don't really have an audience yet, perhaps some other professionals that I have met through various forums.

Who would you like to add to your audience?

-Anyone getting married.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?

-Again, something that relates to story telling as the name is the classic ending to fairy tales. However, I like the look of scroll designs as well. Something that is timeless, classic, stylish, artistic, beautiful...

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)

-I like pink and chocolate for some reason, it seems to be something that I think brides can relate to. It also seems to be popular right now. However, I am open to any color combination.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

-Something relating to fairy tales, books, living happily ever after... or something with a scroll design.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?

-Professionalism, timelessness, beauty, art

What is your tagline or slogan?

-none

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?

-my photography will hinge towards the photojournalism trend that is happening in america, but I really focus on details and beauty. I don't want to be trapped in some other person's definition of art, I want to create my own that brides relate to me. I want to provide an open communication with my clients to ensure we both understand the goals of the wedding photography and to put my artistic insight into that photography.

Where will your new logo be used?

-my website, album designs, photographs, business cards, basically any product I produce.

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?

One of the best in my area is Douglas Benedict, he did my friend's wedding and it was excellent. I enjoy his design very much, it is very minimalistic and very clean and neat.

List competitive URLs if possible

http://www.douglasbenedict.com

What sets you apart from your competitors?

I hope to be more like him. However, if you look at most photographers in this area, they are your typical wedding photgraphers. The lighting is right - but it isn't creative. The poses are good, but they don't send a message. The exposures are good, but they aren't inviting. I want to provide the art of photography. I also want to be seen as a brand to be reckoned with in Eastern, PA.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:

-classic yet inspiring

Thanks for replying so quick NHR!

I like the ideas you have come up with.

I like the first one quite a bit the more I look at it. I think the font might need a little tweaking, I like it, but I would like to see it compared to something a little more eloquent. Also, I don't want to get too detailed but I feel like there is some component missing. I do think you hit the nail on the head by having the studios a separate font below the "happily ever after".

The second one I would like to see with less symmetry in the scroll design, perhaps set to the left side of the text. Something more like ink that has been spilled or haphazardly been flung around a piece of paper carelessly while writing.

I hope you can interpret my thoughts, but I think that this is definitely on the right track and I really appreciate your efforts so far, it looks awesome!

Well, I would love to receive some more ideas on logos as I am at a complete loss when it comes to any type of creative design. I thought I would post some logos of others that I like:

[logos at bottom of page]

Hope that helps get my logo thread jump started. I am really looking forward to everyone's help. I hope there is nothing I posted that has deterred anyone from helping me out. If there is anything else that would help, please let me know!

Thank you for the feedback. I'll prepare my revision soon.

By the way, I can see only "redtree" image. Probably direct link to forum images not working. You can save images to your hard drive, then attach it. (Click "Go Advanced" button, you will go to advanced edit page. Find "Manage Attachments" button on this page.)
Sorry if I told you something what you already know.

Hey guys, thanks for posting some new logos!

Here is what I think:

Glyphica - I like the idea behind the design. I can see the "fairy tale" approach to the logo. However, its not quite what I am looking for. I am hoping for something less glittery and more stylish. I do encourage you to keep trying though. Thanks!

JJohnson - Thanks for posting! The more I look at the logo you posted, the more I am liking the font and the word placement. However, I may have to take back what I said earlier about likeing the scroll designs. Let me post some pics of what I would like to see from that, because the scroll design on the logo isn't doing anything for me. Again, I can't wait to see what else you have to offer. Thanks again!

Tyler - I like the logo. I don't think its what I had in mind, but it definitely has a very pleasant effect on me. I would like to see some variations if at all possible. I do like the idea of flowers in the logo, and even though I was thinking more "cursive" writing, the font seems to go well with the total logo. I look forward to seeing some revisions if you don't mind. Thanks!

OK, let me post some more images, hopefully it will help me and you guys get closer to what I think I am looking for. Thanks again everyone!

(After posting the following pics, I think I realized a few things: I like things that are asymmetrical. I do think the following images have too much going on with them with the exception of the fourth one. And while I don't want to alienate any designers, because I really do appreciate you spending your time for me, I think NHR and Tyler are the closest to what I am looking for so far. I really do appreciate the help everybody!)

Thanks for posting so far everyone!

After taking a look at a few of the logos, I think I would like to see something like a hybrid version of JJohnson's #2 logo and NHR's #1 logo. I really like having the "writing apparatus" in there somewhere, and I like the design to the left of the text. If there is a good way to incorporate the two, I think we will definitely be very close to what I am looking for. Again, I think something artistic looking, but not real edgy, very classic and stylish but with an artistic flare. Thanks again so much, I look forward to the revisions.

P.S. If I might be able to see a couple different font ideas I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi,

The designers work independently, so we can't "mix and match" elements.

I will try another design and I'm sure NHR will be happy to revise as well, we just can't combine the two.

Thanks!

Oh, I understand completely. I did not expect you to combine the two - in fact I don't think the raw combination of both would look very good. I am just trying to help you understand what I am seeing and thinking. I think both elements add something, and I would certainly love to see any of the designers explore that. I am sorry if I came across as wanting to add the designs together..

I actually feel a bit silly trying to help you guys design a logo for me - because I am completely inept when it comes to any type of design. I am just trying to help out - if there is anything I could do or explain better please let me know. Thanks!

OK, just wanted to make sure. Sometimes clients think because of the open forum that the designers collaborate but that's not the case. Just wanted to clarify. Thanks!

Actually, the most helpful thing you can do is point out designs you like (which you did). I'm sure there will be more submissions soon.

Taldo, thanks for posting.

I'm not sure how much I like the black background. I would like to see the logo with a white background before I can comment further. Thanks!

Nhr, I think that is definitely the direction I would like to head with the logo. I would like to see what some others have to offer, but so far I like this revision and JJohnson's revision the best.

I didn't see expression's logo before I posed, I like that one as well, definitely the right direction. Thanks!

I wanted to get back to expression's logo, I like the logo, but I don't like the Y becoming the stylus. While it was a very good idea, I would rather just see the stylus come between the words "happily" and "ever".

Also, I nhr, I like the design a alot. I also like the abstractness of JJohnson's design. Anything you can do to make the logo a little more abstract?

Thanks again everyone, looking forward to a few more options before I make a decision.

Deanna and Tyler, thanks for working on other designs. I like the way you went with the logo Tyler, but it isn't quite what I am after, although I think it looks great.

Deanna, I also feel that the logo is interesting, but not quite what I am looking for.

I still like JJohnson's and NHR's designs the best, with expression's design coming in at a close third.

I am really interesting in seeing a few different approaches that incorporate at least some of the following:

1) Some type of handwritten style Font, something that has some curves to it.

2) Some sort of writing instrument or design around the theme of writing.

3) An abstract design that brings the design together with the writing instrument that leans towards what NHR and JJohnson designed, but with a little more towards the abstractness of JJohnson's design.

Again, I really appreciate everyone's efforts and letting me see some ideas that I have not thought of before. I would love to see some more designs that compete with the three that I mentioned above that I like.

Thanks!
