I cannot wait to see the final installment of the Matrix Trilogy.
I think I am one of few people who actually thought the second one was actually better than the first, then again I am a huge sucker for action flicks.
Reloaded has probably one of the best chase scenes ever in a movie and is right up there with gun scenes with Heat (Al Pacino).
I am planning on going to see the movie on Sunday or Monday when my girlfriend fly's in from LA for 5 days.
Anyone else....
Bueller?

Oh sure. I'll be seeing it this weekend. But I'm definitely not in agreement that the second one was better than the first! And I really don't expect this one to be any better than the second one. But I gotta see it anyway!

Why was the first better in your eyes?
From my standpoint the first one was too slow moving in comparison to the second one. It developed new characters, but did so in an unobtrusive framework of action sequence, insane dialogue and mystique.
I can't wait to see Revolutions.

I think most people prefer the first film because it was new. Never before seen effects. Really a revolutionary movie. How many "Matrix" effects are being used now in film and TV?
The second really showed nothing that mind boggling. Sure, it had some great sequences (freeway chase, obviously) but I personally think they spent too much time in Zion which dragged the movie to a halt. Many of the effects looked too computer generated (the Neo vs. replicating Mr. Smith fight scene, for example).
My main fear with the third is that it will be too Sci-Fi for my tastes. I'll wait until week 2 or 3 to see it.
I'm more looking forward to the final Lord of the Rings installment.

Oh, I've just been sitting and watching the Revolutions // EDIT: RELOADED, not Revolutions! A.K.// on DVD (my hobby for the last three days). I definitely like BOTH the Matrix and the Reloaded. I can see a lot of inconsistences (sp.?) in the second one, but there are quite a few in the first one, too. IMHO, the first one was kind of a breakthrough in movie making and storytelling, the second one doesn't bring more from these points of view, but it continues telling the story which has some (IMHO) really interesting ideas. It doesn't matter that they aren't that new, if you see at the first picture - you'll see that the whole script is a remake, also. Wachowskis manage to weave these old and not that old ideas into a pattern which is rather pleasant to ...err... to consume Personally, I had to turn some switches off in order to enjoy completely the second part, but I don't think it was better or worse than the first one, I think we should try and see the gestaltic part of the movie, which means, among other things, that we should see the third part first and then throw stones or whatever they throw these days IMHO

I thought the second one was better, for the most part.
Our stupid theatre here won't be showing it for at least another two weeks. Curse living in a small town. We only have one screen, and they'll be showing "Scary Movy III" for yet another week (no clue why) and then "Brother Bear" for at least a week or two, then the 3rd Matrix.

I enjoyed the Reloaded when I saw it. I had a few problems with it, but overall, I did like it. Unlike the first Matrix, though, the more I thought about it and the more I talked about it, the more I started to DISlike it.
My first (and biggest) problem with it was the downplaying of Morpheus. In #1, he was like this amazing wizard--some kind of genius who'd figured it all out and sort of led the charge against the entire Matrix. Then suddenly in #2, we find out he's just one of many captains working for the Zion government, nobody special at all. That alone was a major letdown to me. And I also didn't like how they made him into this renegade captain. It's such a movie cliche: he's the best there is, but he never follows orders.
Aside from that, I didn't like how long all the fight sequences went on,. Sure, they were cool, but they went so long that I was actually sitting there in the theater thinking "okay, enough already, move on." Then there was the lengthy stopover in Zion--that bizarre party/orgy/rave and way too many new characters being introduced that had no real impact on the story (and I seriously doubt all of them are important to the 3rd film). And I guess that last thing that bothered me about Reloaded was that albino-ish bad guy and his meaningless ability to turn into some kind of horror creature when he did his disappearing act.
I think that about covers it.
Traditionally, 3rd sequels are better than 2nd sequels (T2 vs T3 being a major exception to that rule!), so I'm hopeful about Revolutions.

Well I'm a hugh Matrix fan and I've seen the first one well over 50 times. The second I loved very much, why? Tho I love the 1st one because it was new never seen before action scenes but Reloaded loads more action scenes loads more special effects and now Neo is finding out his true powers.
I'm a big fan of martial arts and watching all them fight scenes just turned me on
I've booked to see the next one this Thursday (6th)

What really amazes me about Matrix, is the generally low quality of actors involved (save the amazing Oracle, that woman is an Actress!). It may be somewhat subjective, but I agree with the critics that say that Keanu Reeves is probably one of the worst actors of Hollywood. From all the interviews I've seen, I can gather that personally he isn't very clever guy, so to say And that seem to inflect his acting.
But, and even that's why, he was (IMHO) the perfect choice for the Matrix, part one. Why? Because his part, throughout the film, is being confused, which I think is what he can do better And I think that's why he's somewhat overacting (although the black goggles really save the situation) in Reloaded, when he must play the "guy who knows": he just doesn't qualify for the part. This was one of my switches to turn off when I was watching Reloaded for the first time. Sorry if I'm stepping on someone's foot, it all goes under a big IMHO
The other thing, and I agree on this one with Dynagirl, was the Morpheus's "sunset". Even in the action scenes he looks somewhat diminished, occasionaly even awkward, and all of the errors become more obvious, although I don't know if it's the cause or the effect, speaking Matrix language I really like Fishburne as an actor, he has that drive of a leader like George Clooney or Samuel Jackson, but in Reloaded, he just goes down. Or at least, that was the impression I had, and I suppose I'm not the only one who had it. You can justify this "sunset" with the fact that he's loosing his faith and the only dream he's been dreaming for all his life, and it's very life-like and it's sad. Maybe, that was the point, who knows? Maybe, he'll regain it in the 3rd part, when his faith is reborn. Let's wait and see.
The stopover in Zion was, without doubt, just too long and slow. But I guess what they wanted to make is a kind of a counter point for the machine world, something fleshy, sweaty, alive. And there goes also the love scene. Again, I didn't like the Star Wars style wardrobe and inside scenes in Zion, but I guess it's difficult to make something that doesn't at least in part repeat Star Wars these days
Uf, I'd better go and work now, or they'll fire me. Well, I guess they will anyway, sooner or later...

I recommend reading this article:
http://www.cnn.com/2003/SHOWBIZ/Movies/11/...s.ap/index.html
He is a pretty intelligent man who has been through a lot, but doesn't seemingly show it. I know if I had dealt with some of the stuff he has, I probably wouldn't be around to talk about it, let alone stay an actor.
Also, the woman who played the Oracle (Gloria Foster) in the previous two films passed away, so she has been replaced by another actress (Mary Alice); just a forewarning.

I'm excited about the seeing the final (?) Matrix as well. I was also thinking about what made the first better than Reloaded.
For me, I believe part of it was not really knowing what the story was about, and watching it unfold in strange ways...First scene, a woman wearing tight black clothes (much like the villains in Superman II) is being arrested by police. She's the bad guy, right? Oh, as the scene unfolds, maybe she's not. and why does she run into a phonebooth, knowing a garbage truck is going to smash into it? And why can she jump so high and so far?
So much of the fun was wrapped up in unraveling the movie - it took me a few minutes to process what was going on when Neo's mind was first 'freed'.
In the second movie, characters were not very well developed (as is the unfortunate par for the movie course these days). And where in the first movie there was the slightly vague construction of a hierarchy of the Matrix, the characters (programs) of the 2nd movie just seem to appear without warning or intro. The Architect, Serif, the Keymaker, that french guy (don't recall the name), the Twins...All seemed to appear from nowhere and were not based in any real-life folklore or urben legends - they just seemed like characters some kids would dream up... "I know - let's have two albinos with dreadlocks who can make themselves invisible." "Yeah, that'd be cool!"
Don't get me wrong - I very much enjoyed the 2nd movie and have purchased the DVD. But in Reloaded you know what the objective is. In the first you had no idea what the plan was, which was a large part of the fun.
I guess I didn't mind the transition Morpheus had - his goal always was to find 'The One' and train him to become the savior. His sliding away from the spotlight, away from the role of teacher/father seemed like a natural occurence to me.
But enough with the precursor Karate moves that end with Neo curling up his hand and motioning 'c'mon'. It was fun the first time, but not for every fight scene. And what was with the sweaty booty dance in Zion? I mean hey, if I want skin movies, I know where to find them. When I'm watching sci-fi, gimme sci-fi.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll check this one out this weekend, and look forward to it. I also wouldn't rule out a prequel for this series.....

I'm one of those folks who haven't seen a movie in a theatre for ages.
I suppose I'll just wait for it to arrive on video.
(I'm also one of those folks who haven't upgraded to DVD)
Oh the humanity...

The last one was very entertaining. Knowing that 2 & 3 were filmed at the same time, I expected them to be identical in look and feel. That was not the case - this had a distinctly different feel from the 2nd.
You definitely want to see this in the theater - much more drama that way.

I just got back from seeing it and have found myself being more confused than I have ever been from a movie.
I think there was a ton of stuff in this movie that we could have done without.
Although there are 3 great scenes in this movie...I found the rest to be filler in a movie that was meant to be one, but was sliced up to benefit short attention spanned theatre goers.
Out of the 3, this is my least favorite from my first reaction.
I of course will see it a few more times after watching reloaded and the 1st one, to try and grasp what just happened fully.
