[Due Sept 10th] LoanConnection.com logo - $300
Admin code added by Abby - 319487210G114762G , 6GR92227NN071550R
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
LoanConnection.Com
What type of product or service do you offer?
Loans
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
October 23'd Sept. 10th
Please describe your existing audience
People who need to borrow money
What type of logo would you like?
Contemporary / Trendy / Professional
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
No
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Our company brokers loans. We connect borrowers with lenders, thus the name "LoanConnection". I would like our logo to visually convey this idea of making a connection. I'm not sure what the best visual metaphor would be, but I imagine something in which one side has an icon representing a bank and the other side has an icon representing a person and there is a connection being made between the bank and the person. Perhaps a lightning bolt or something like that could be used to convey the idea of the connection being made, I'm not really sure.
Where will your new logo be used?
Website, business cards, etc...
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Ditech, Lending Tree, I think their logos are nothing great

Neither of these logos does much of anything for me. They are competent designs, but similar to ones that I've seen a million times before. I'm looking for something more original and creative and with a stronger branding factor. Here are some specific comments:
1. The logo is too wide. The two words, "Loan" and "Connection" should be arranged vertically to give the logo a more balanced look. The .com could also be separated onto a third line.
2. The icons you chose do not clearly convey the idea of a connection being made. A person looking at those icons would have no way of knowing that the icons are supposed to represent a connection being made between a borrower and a bank.
3. I would prefer to have the text integrated into the icon in some way, rather than having an icon sitting next to the text.
I recently completed a project for another client through Design Outpost. If you review the forum thread for that project, it will give you an idea of the type of designs that I like. The finished logo from that project was very much to my satisfaction. The forum thread is located at:

So far, I like Lutfi's designs the best. However, I would like to see concepts from more designers. Therefore, I have increased the bounty on the project to $300 and extended the deadline until November 1st.

Not really crazy about any of these designs. I think the problem you guys are having is in coming up with a design that conveys the idea of a "connection" being made. I'm starting to think that this concept is too abstract to express visually and that perhaps we should go with a more tangible icon, such as something involving money. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking:
1. A pile of money
2. Hundred-dollar bills fanned out
3. Incorporate "LoanConnection.Com" into the design of a million-dollar bill.
I'm looking for a really sharp, contemporary, Web 2.0 style design.

OK, these designs are looking better now. I'll provide some specific comments below and I'm going to extend the deadline by a few more days, to give everyone a chance to take their best shot at this:
brunocalvin: Your post #18 is interesting and contemporary, but I'm not crazy about the font you chose. Also, as I mentioned previously, I'd like the logo to have a more square appearance, with the words stacked on top of one another, so it doesn't look so wide.
graphxguy: I like the style of your design the best in terms of its contemporary Web 2.0 look, rounded edges, reflection effect and its 3-dimensional appearance. The colors are also nice and bold, which is good. Unfortunately, the design doesn't really make sense to me. I don't know why the "Connection.Com" is sticking out of the side like that. It looks like a switchblade comb or something! Perhaps you could redo the layout to something that makes more sense.
Lutfi: Your latest design is pretty good, but the gold coin doesn't really do it for me. It's a creative idea, but the execution just looks a little strange. Since you have a rectangular layout, maybe you could do something similar but instead of the gold coin, have the rectangular background be a monetary note.
xpressions: Your concept is interesting, but it looks old-fashioned. You only used one color and the shade of green you chose is not very bold or contemporary. I want a more Web 2.0 look. See the comments I made about graphxguy's design. That's more the style I'm looking for...bold colors, 3-D appearance, shadow/reflective effects, etc... The clipart you chose for the money is also old-fashioned looking. Take a look at post #18 for an example of a more modern looking money graphic.
Just a general idea for everyone...when money is printed, the US Mint first creates a printing plate, which contains an embossed image of the note to be printed. It might be interesting to try a design that looks like a currency printing plate with "LoanConnection.Com" embossed on the plate. This would have a 3-D appearance and I think it could be cool if it looked like the printing plate for an actual monetary note.

Thank you for the feedback. Will see what I can come up with. Just as an fyi: no clipart used; was created from scratch.
