Wink [Project Complete] - RJavier Photography - Logo - $200

(Admin code added by Palmer - 43X1936220847883P, 26445490KN926561S)

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
RJavier Photography
or
Rafael Javier Photography

What type of product or service do you offer?
I photograph kids birthday parties, weddings, portraits

How long have you been in business?
been doing photography for 2.5 years as a hobby and now I am taking it a lot more serious.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
I am hoping to create my photography branding with the logo. I need for people to see my photos watermarked and know who shot the photo. The logo needs to say something about me - I love to take candid photojournalist style photography and I love to capture the special moments.
I need for the logo to show professionalism and that i mean serious business when I am shooting.

What are your long term goals?
My long term goal is to perfect my photography skills. I love to capture the moments as they are happening and also create photography that is inspiring. hopefully in a few years I will love to have a nice client base thru references from past clients.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
I am hoping that I've come to the right place to get my logo designed. I am aiming by April 10th 2010 which is three weeks from now which I feel is plenty of time to give all designers an opportunity to show me what they've come up with.

Audience Profile:

Please describe your existing audience

My existing audience is mainly kids birthday parties and some weddings along with portraits of couples.

Who would you like to add to your audience?

I will love to reach out to more wedding couples and sweet sixteen events and family portraits.
Also I will love to attract clients who truly value photography and want to invest some time and money in it.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
I need a logo that will tell the audience that I am about candid photojournalist style photography and that I am there to seek and capture those memorable moments. A logo that will show that I am serious about the photography and to show professionalism.
I am looking for a logo that is clean & modern.
I've seen logos that contain very nice pleasing reflections below them and within - I will like to see some designs with this incorporated.

See how can my initials RJ (these are my first name and last name initials) be put together to make a unique icon that will stick out to people when I watermark my photos with just the icon. Perhaps the initials RJP may be used as well

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)

I am fully opened to any color scheme that you come up with. I love soft and pleasing colors. The following are some colors that I have in mind but again i am opened to some other color scheme. The colors from the logo will be used to color my web site and also will serve as the branding colors.
Dark Orange color - i've been using this color for my current water mark.
Metallic Silver, Black, Silver,
Cherry Red or Dark Red
Some type of soft Blue
Some type of Brown

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
See how can my initials RJ or RJP be put together to make a unique icon that will stick out to people when I watermark my photos with just the icon.

Nikons have on the right side a hand grid and at the front it has a red rubber piece which is the sign and trademark for Nikon camera bodies - I would like to see how something like this can be used to hint that I use Nikon gear.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Candid photography, capturing the moments in time. I am here to record your special event thru photography. I am serious about getting the best photos for you.

What is your tagline or slogan?
Capturing memorable moments in time

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Candid photography, Capturing memorable moments in time

Where will your new logo be used?
My logo will be used in my photography website and blog. I will need to use it to watermark my web images and proofs. I will also use it on my business cards, flyers and perhaps get it printed on fabric such as T-shirts or hats.

I will most likely need to be able to resize the logo as needed.
If the logo has an icon that represents who RJavier Photography is i will like to be able to use that piece to watermark the photos when desired.

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
There are many photographers world wide but I will say anyone that is within the New York City tri-state area.

List competitive URLs if possible

What sets you apart from your competitors?

Targeted Message:

State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:

This is my flickr photostream if you like please review some of my photos so that you my get a feel for the type of photography that i've done so far.
Flickr Photostream:

@xpressions: Thanks for being the first to work on my logo. The logo looks great...I liked how you incorporated the R+J which looks like the camera along with the red as the view finder. I am hoping that I could perhaps get a semi sketch of the camera per the instructions in the post.

The font for RJAVIER Photography I'm not too crazy about.

I will like to also see some of the following colors incorporated into the logo:
Dark Orange or whichever tone of orange that seems fit.

Please show me other variations for the logo. This is definitely a pretty good start.

I've seen some logos where they look 3D and with a semi reflection - I will like to see a logo with this effect as well.

Thanks

@pracus: I love the sketch of my first image where I am holding my camera in portrait position. The font and the color I am not too thrilled about. I definitely will like to see some type of colors in the logo:
Dark Orange color or orange in some type of form
Metallic Silver, Silver,
Cherry Red or Dark Red on the the camera

Thanks...

Hi everyone...I just spent a few hours looking at xpressions and pracus design. I do like both, however, I need to be able to use the logo to watermark all of my photos that go on the web and also watermark my proofs. I will also use the logo on my website/blog so I need to be able to match the colors from the logo to the website. I am looking for a modern look for the logo.

Even though I asked to try and incorporate one of my photo as a sketch I am opened to other design ideas. I am definitely looking to have some kind of RED, ORANGE, SILVER, METALLIC SILVER OR EVEN BLUE incorporate into the logo. Heck, i am even open to any color that you feel will make the logo look amazing.

@xpressions: I will love to see another revision of your logo. I will like to see a different font. The RJ that forms the camera I love that concept, if you can make that look more amazing such as a 3D look with a touch of reflection or something I will love to see how that looks.

I can't see any counterindications to use my proposal these ways We can always work on colors and details.

@pracus: I do like the fact that you were able to outline the image the way that I was looking for. But, what I came to realize is that your design emphasizes the scanned image more than the RJavier Photography name. I also find that the logo will take too much of the photo space once I water mark my image.

Please see how can you design the logo to look modern and with the emphasize on the name and some on the rest of the logo. Also the fonts that were used have not really caught my eyes.

@xpressions: I am really liking the R+J how is looking on Version 3 - nice reflection, the line going across adds a nice touch and it definitely drew attention and focus to that section of the logo. The red on the view finder also looks like the Nikon red that I wanted. however, I am noticing that the view finder is making the R+J look more like a point and shoot camera. I definetely do not want potential clients to thing that I use point and shoots.

Please let's see how the R+J will look with the following:
1. the view finder removed
2. The view finder positioned more like an SLR which is towards the middle above the lens. Perhaps overlay the red view finder above the lens which is how the SLR's have them.
Please see attached image of the Nikon D700 which will demo how the view finder is placed also the red hand grip where is placed.
Name: Nikon D700_Front.jpg

Size: 86.2 KB

The RJAVIER over powers the Photography wording. I will love to see a different font for RJavier Photography. I will like the RJavier Photography to have almost equal emphasis.

The slogan "capturing memorable moments in time" sort of disappears in the whole mix. I am not clear how the slogan can be made a bit more visible.

You are most definitely making very good revisions.

Exclamation Please Note:

Hi everyone - please note that I am opened to any design concept/ideas. Please keep in mind that I will like the logo to look modern and elegant and not too cluttered looking.

The logo will go on my website which is currently under construction. The logo will go on my business cards and the logo will be used to watermark all of my images.

I am looking forward to see other revisions of the current designers that have already worked on the design along with other designers that will hopefully join this effort - thanks

@nhr: Thanks for joining the design session. I will edit the post to indicate the requirements a bit better I hope. I will scratch the idea of having my photo sketched. At the time that I created the project i thought that the sketching of one of the two attached images was a good idea but now I am looking for something more original and creative.

I need for the logo to show some seriousness and professionalism. I do not want a cartoonish look or feminine feel to it.

Please show me a design where the sketching of my attached photos are not incorporated. Perhaps try to incorporate the RJ or the RJP along with the RJavier Photography with and with out the slogan to see which might fit better.

Either use some colors that might appeal to you if not use colors that I indicated in the project.

Thanks for your entry...

@skyvee: First off, thank you for your submission.
You hit the nail on the head with the sketching of my original idea. I definitely like the fact that the font for rjavier photography is easily readable.

The only problem is that I am not sure if I should go with a sketch of myself as I think this might scare people. I've changed my project description and removed the images so that I may not confuse or mislead the designers.

Please see if you can come up with some type of symbolic icon that's unique that represents the initials RJ or RJP incorporated with the RJavier Photography. I will like to also see how the RJavier Photography will look with a nice script font.

thanks..

@xpressions: Thanks for the revisions. Here are my comments/suggestions
Version 5 is much better! You are definitely heading in the right direction...

Please let's see another revision with the following:
1. I prefer the red view finder from Version 3 - the non red filled view finder. I did not like the filled in red view finder.

2. Please Move the red non filled view finder above the R and keep it above the lens circle - view finder not touching the R. This should mimic the view finder hump that the Nikon D700 and D3 have - please see the D700 photo in this thread that I attached for reference.

3. Will love for the R+J that builds the camera to be quickly distinguished by a viewer that it is my initials creating the camera body. I noticed that in Version 5 the R becomes clearer that it is an R when it is NOT attached to the lens (the circle in the middle).
I am not sure if it makes sense moving the circle a bit towards the J (to the right) and detaching the circle a little from the J to make the J stand out more like J.

4. The following is the watermark that I'm currently using. I will love to have your fonts look very similar to the attached image.
Name: RJavier Photography Watermark.jpg
Views: 372
Size: 56.5 KB

5. I will like to see how the RJavier Photography will look along side from each other and the slogan right underneath.

6. I am also noticing that the RJavier Photography is very squished together - The emphasis on RJavier and Photography is there on version 5 but the font is still not striking a smile on my face. The R+J is definitely putting a big smile on my face

7. The slogan "capturing memorable moments in time" is over lapping the reflection of the R+J. I will like for the reflection not to be over lapped. I am looking to use the entire logo and or the icon of the logo when I water mark my images.

So far the color Red, Silver is working for me.
I am not sure how the following colors will match or play nicely in this logo: orange, blue, dark brown

Hello again and please let me show you my other idea for your initials creative treatment. Let's use them as a finger (R) and camera body (J) symbols - the moment just before shooting

@xpressions: Thank you...I look forward to seeing your next revision.

@Pracus: Thanks for joining the project once again
Sorry, but the camera icon at first glance does not appear like an R and a J. The font is very close to what I posted in post #26 which is a good thing. I am looking for the icon and the font to look modern.
I would love to see the R and J sketched forming the camera with the line style that were used in post #22 of my image. Those lines are the ones that I had in mind in my
original idea when I was referring to the line sketching. Designer Skyvee was right on track with the line sketching.

Designers, please note that I am extremely active checking this project thru out the day. Which I think is a good thing to get feedback back and forth as quickly as possible.

I am confident that by the end of the project I will have a logo that I will get goose bumps and a smile when I look at it. So far everyone that has joined are coming up with excellent designs.
