[Project Complete] - Logo for photography studio - $200

(Admin code added by Palmer - 6XL33094ND882080K, 3G8424241B2081131)

HI! I have seen wonderful work here and I know that they'll be some great ideas for my business logo.

www.inharmonystudios.com

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
In Harmony Studios

What type of product or service do you offer?
Lifestyle Photography including weddings, seniors, maternity/births and families

How long have you been in business?
A little over a year

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Stronger branding and more consistent themes via my blog and merchandise pieces, moving towards a boutique type of photography.

What are your long term goals?
To become a successful portrait lifestyle photographer in my area by providing honest, resonant photography.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
Not sure about the process time; a week?

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Word of mouth of my family and friends. Mostly family and friends.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
Individuals seeking realistic and engaging photography of their various life events. I would like to connect and relate to both older and younger demographics through a strong and classic style.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Something that incorporates the In Harmony concept (I'm a musician) but also has strong trends of "retro" style. I am open to creativity.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
I LOVE Black & White to be able to thread other colors in. (To match sessions: pink, orange, green, blue, etc.) But Black and White being the two main colors. Right now my blog is dark. I think I'd like to got towards clean and light.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
I love converse and retro icons/styles. I would love to also be able to incorporate the retro style with the musical theme. I am not tied to converse star logo, but I really like the white stripe with the thinner black stripe.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Honesty, Resonant, Fun & Classic

What is your tagline or slogan?
Honesty. Resonance. Life in Harmony

Not tied to having tagline in logo.

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Good Photography is Timeless & Worth the Investment.

Where will your new logo be used?
Web (Blog), promotional materials including business cards, CDs, photography watermark, postcards, etc.

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Most of my competitors use their names (aka Bob Jones Photography) and not many have a strong style/logo/branding.

List competitive URLs if possible
N/A

What sets you apart from your competitors?
I can provide great, emotional photography without all of the distractions and I capture real people in their best moments.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Honest & Classic

Thank you! I can't wait to see it!

Hypnosis,
Thank you for your submission, but it isn't going in the direction that I had hoped.

I am looking for a tie to music & harmony concepts with a retro feel, and I'd like the logo to reflect my approachable, gregarious style.

Thank you, I look forward to another version!

Hi

I'm interested in submitting some concepts. Can you give us some examples of logos you like or the specific retro style you are looking for? That would be really helpful! (at least for me)

Thanks,
Stephanie

What a wonderful start! I'm kinda disappointed my email didn't alert me, so I would have responded sooner!

I really like the first design--Can you punch it up with some color? (perhaps only one strong accent color but a few variations) It feels really strong, which I like, but it needs to be also refined and less raw. Perhaps clean up the dissolved letters, and try a variation font...

I like the other designs as well (V. 2/3), but they convey the music studio feel, which I realize is part of my name, but I feel like it needs to convey the photography. I love the "S" of the studios being the body of the stringed instrument--I just play the tuba! What about using that same idea with a musical note?

I am not opposed to adding Photography as a sub-line to the business name if necessary.

My last name is Horn (Ha Ha) and if we go with instrument art, I'd prefer a brass (trumpet, horn, tuba, trombone) instrument. I think though it might just be too literal, and that we should focus on the musical staff and other musical concepts.

In Harmony to me means the experience of a strong, centered relationship between the client and the photographer. A great chemistry and synergy, a consonance of art and beauty if that helps.

Really liked the last version (as well, but I don't care for the guitar strings. Perhaps keeping the star, and incorporating a staff or notes?

Thanks so much, a GREAT start!!
-Susan

Lutfi,

I needed to take a day or two and digest your ideas; I liked them a lot! I loved your take on the musical connection--my favorite was version 2 because the staff was on the bottom coming from the horn and dissolving into the "y". I would like to see a serif font variation instead of what you used, as well as some colors...my PDF had some I was interested in.

As much as I love the designs, I think it does need to visually incorporate the photography aspect. I don't want to confuse my clients about what business it is, but I need to convey the metaphor of Harmony.

Perhaps a take on the Mac Finder face
http://jouhl.com/wp-content/uploads/...ardfull-1.jpeg
or a polaroid?

Thanks for your submissions, I look forward to some more variations.

Paula23,

I LOVE Version 7 with the shutter in the tuba. That's where I want to go.

I'm interested in a few more takes on it:
I'd like to stick with one or two colors, but I'm not crazy about the blue and green. Any other combinations that are fresh?! Stronger Teal & Lime perhaps?
Can I see everything black except the tuba, and lighten up the shutter to a gray?
I like title "Harmony" font, but it might be too fancy...how about Betty Noir or Dream Orphans? Can we try a script "In" inside the shutter?

Thanks, I'm liking the creative process!

Mark,
I like your take, but I am interested in a little more dynamic of a logo. Do you have any other ideas?

Paula23,
The colors are a little too light and soft for me. Edgier and darker values. But I liked the font--still interested in a script "in" or "studios"

Lutfi,
Nathan is working, but I am not crazy about the colors. Perhaps the pink with another coordinating cool tone? Or, not as prominent in the name. A little bolder in the Studios, too for more emphasis.

brunocalvin,
I like the bracketed corners, but it's a little plain. A stronger element of an image would be great. And for now, I like the script.

To all designers: Unfortunately for my personal tastes, as I think things are implied enough, the logo needs to contain a much stronger photographic element to it. I have a business name that's a misnomer, so I need to quickly and clearly convey my business type. Can we head that direction, please?
Thanks

Lightbulb New and Improved--Photography Logo

Hello Designers,

I need to apologize. My business logo design experience hasn't gone the way I'd hoped, and it's mostly my fault. I take responsibility for not taking the time to consider what I really need in a logo and also offering up too many ideas for your palates. I didn't go with my instinct on a few things and instead trusted a few loud voices of opinion that I don't agree with.

Although all of that is worth being culpable for, I still need a logo!

I spent this week getting familiar with my answers from the project summary and also considering what's really important. Feel free to disregard previous discussions about what I thought I wanted and please approach it with an open mind. (Again.)

So, here's the new and improved In Harmony Studios Project Summary. (I have only modified questions that have changed.)
--What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
None, really. Can be just an icon with the business name, "In Harmony Studios" below or next to the main logo.

--Who would you like to add to your audience?
People who are seeking an approachable and kindred photography experience, not just great photos.

--What type of logo would you like?
I would like something that conveys the metaphor of being In Harmony. A logo that is contained, fairly compact, and simple.

--Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? I'd like to stick to classic black and white with punches of the blue palate.

--Do you have any specific images or icons that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
My husband and I are the "studio" and our last name is Horn. I would love to see some play on the instrument (no pun intended! ) or perhaps the initial H.

--What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Authentic, approachable and tells the customer about us.

--What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience? Good photography is timeless and worth the investment and you will experience harmony and authenticity by working with our studio.

--What sets you apart from your customers? Superior customer service will make you feel like we've been friends forever, and we will capture a variety of moments with such emotional depth you will be moved.

--State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company: Authentic

I have included a few images for reference.

Thanks so much for sticking with me! Sometimes we just need to get our heads our of our...

--Susan & Bryan Horn
