[Project Complete] - Event logo for solid waste industry - $150

(Admin code added by Palmer - : 73C462584K2375248)

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Magic on the Track
Road-E-O 2012

What type of product or service do you offer?
This annual event is hosted by the Florida Sunshine Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA). It is a competition among garbage truck drivers from across the state. The winners move on to a national competition. The main part of the event is an extensive obstacle course - drivers maneuver garbage trucks through a track with real life challenges (backing up, going through tight spaces, etc).

How long have you been in business?
The Florida chapter was started in 1978.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
The association decided on the theme "Magic on the Track" because the event will be held in Kissimmee, Florida, right around the corner from Disney World. Two of the elements they would like to see incorporated into the logo are a garbage truck and an element of magic (ie. stars). One idea was a truck driving down the road with stars coming from under the tires. With that said, the competitors are mostly men, so the logo needs to be masculine.

What are your long term goals?
The logo will be used on the association website and in emails to help promote and get people excited about the event. It will also be printed on signs, banners, t-shirts and in the event program.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
Wednesday, December 28

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Competitors are public and private garbage truck drivers from across the state. Most are men.

Who would you like to add to your audience? N/A

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Illustration should be color, but easily translate to black and white (for applications where color is cost prohibitive).

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Open to suggestions

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Garbage truck and element of magic (ie. stars)

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
It's a fun event! With that said, these guys take it very seriously.

What is your tagline or slogan?
Magic on the Track
Road-E-O 2012

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Would like to tie event into location (Disney area); help promote the event and get people excited about it

Where will your new logo be used?
Website, emails, event program, t-shirts, signs, banners

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos? N/A

List competitive URLs if possible N/A

What sets you apart from your competitors? N/A

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
For this specific event, the participants can only be described as "competitive" ... it's a big deal for them!

Other:
Garbage trucks in competition include rear loader, front loader and side loader. There are others, but these are the most popular and recognizable. If you're not familiar with the trucks, the sites below may help. With that said, the illustration does not have to be detailed/technical. You can use your local garbage truck for inspiration.

Thanks for getting us started, Bill. I shared it with the Road-E-O chair and we both think it's a bit too feminine and sleepy. We're looking for something with a bit more energy. Appreciate the effort!

Glad to have a couple more entries!

IM3D - We like where you're going with this, but wish it looked a bit more like a garbage truck (since the back is cut off). If you've got the time, we would appreciate you giving it a shot with a truck shaped liked the one here. Thanks!

NHR - Waiting on feedback from client. Will post soon. Thanks!

NHR - Just received some feedback. If you're interested in making a couple revisions ... he would like to see a bit more color in the design ... and more randomly placed stars (vs straight in a row). Thanks for your time!
