My connection problem

I'm on dial up. My connection suddenly became very slow lately and it seems to lost connection even if it doesn't disconnect/hang up. I always have to reupload the files over and over again! I've already tried 3 different ISP but the problem is the same. I think the problem could be on my PC. Has anyone experienced this before? Any idea? Any help will be appreciated. My technician is also out of town! I've called the customer service for help but what they told me didn't work. Somebody save me!

It's possible that your system could be slowing you down.

Are you on a PC or a Mac?
Do you regularly clear your caches and run other system maintenance?
Are you sure you don't have a virus or spyware on the machine?

Apart from that - have you had your phone line checked?
If you are regional, or just part of a section of your area that is not up to date it could be a problem to take up with your phone company.

Those are my best guesses anyways.

check your task mgr, see if any thing is running in the background. You could be sending emails and not even knowing it!

first and foremost, don't leave the pc connected to the internet all the time.

Second....
Perhaps you have gator ware on your system too....search google for gatorware removal tools. Gator throws popups and what this could do is cause bandwith clogs while trying to get the ads to your pc from the web.

Are you sure you don't have a virus or spyware on the machine? I'm not sure. I scanned already but there's no virus found. I'm using McAffee 2003. How can I detect if I have a spyware?

gator - if you used to have it then maybe you need to check if it is all removed properly.

I cannot find my referance for a good spyware detector.. anyone?

scumware & spyware wrap themselves around your system so you cannot just "delete" them... so you need to look into that more if you haven't cleaned out your registry properly.

I think we might be running out of excuses.. but do hope something has helped B)

Spybot search and destroy is very very good and is worth running as well as the adware one mentioned above.

Make sure you update the software and its definitions before running it.

My pc sometimes slow down and I usually end up restarting the machine and that clears the problem.

Run Anti virus
Run Spybot S+D
Run a Disk Defragmentation (can be found in start>programmes>accessories>)
Run Disk Cleanup (can be found in start>programmes>accessories>)

If that still doesnt work (and it should help some), then back up your PC and reformat the Hard drive.

I'm on a pretty powerful machine and still I have to empty the cache, temp internet files and what not every other day or my PC gets slow as can be.

So maybe you should just delete those files more often?

If you go to (IE) Tools>Internet options>Advance tab> and then scroll down to secruity there is an option which will delete all internet temp files when the browser is closed down.

I also have delete history after 5 days (Under general tab in internet options)
