[edit-prev. top. desc.]Dealine April 15 - $100 Contest[/edit]

Your job, should you decide to accept it, is to create a professional, classy header for an air ambulance company that is so compelling to web viewers, that they must immediately call our operators to ask for more information.

The contest is for $100, and the deadline is April 15th. The details follow.

Good luck Jim.

When shopping for an air ambulance company, we want potential air ambulance customers to land on one of our many web pages ( http://www.AmericanairAmbulance.com ) and through compelling header design and text be driven to immediately call one of our flight-coordinator operators for more information -- all from seeing the header alone.

Specifically, we fly patients via jet, plane or helicopter from one place to another in order for them to obtain medical treatment. This can be anything from flying a patient to a nearby specialty hospital from a nursing home, or from out of the country and back to the US to treat an injury, or anything in between.

In a nutshell, we'd like to keep the remainder of the website as is (AmericanAirAmbulance.com). But, would like for the banner to be replaced by a taller header on every page. This would be done by a replace command in Frontpage. The specs are:

- The header would replace the current banner and should be of standard size to fill up most screens 100% horizontally and 75% vertically.
- The current content and colors would stay the same.
- The logo that should be incorporated follows.
- The new banner should integrate easily into our current FrontPage web layout, and we should be able to simply cut the old banner and paste the new header.

We want a banner that conveys:

- Absolute professional ability
- Immediate answers to questions
- A strong, reliable, safe company
- A large company with a great deal of experience
- The ability to handle virtually any situation
- Rock solid integrity, caring flight crews, and a cost that is not cheap but the best in the business.

The relevant facts are:

- We have been in business since 1986.
- We have a 100%, flawless flight safety record
- We have made over 25,000 medical transport flights
- We have flown patients well over 20 million miles
- There are 70+ planes in our patient flight network
- We have 20+ flight-coordinator operators who answer calls 24/7
- Customers will ALWAYs get a live coordinator on the first call
- 100% Low price guarantee on all flights

We have many applicable images that may be used. I will post them soon. We have no objection to using any images in the public domain to enhance the header.

That's about it. Should you have questions, please feel free to post them for a prompt reply.

P.S. Optionally, we'd like to see the new logo superimposed upon a Learjet picture as if it were part of our fleet. This could be a full plane wrap, or just the logo on a tail fin. This plane (or planes) image would then be tied into the header.

Here are some possible images for this project. However, any images in the
public domain may also be used.

I have a question. You stated that you want to use the current content on your site now... just replace the header being used now. Then you have that you want the new header to expand to 100% of the screen, but the current one is only about 2/3 of the screen. I just want to make sure that you do want the new one to be based on 100% screen width?

Thanks for the great question.

I'm a layman at those things. What I would like to have is all the web pages be about the same as they look now width-wise. I know some expand depending upon content below the banner.

Mainly though, I want it to fill up about 90-100% of the smaller TYPICAL screen width-wise and about 75% for the height. Instead of making an expandable header, I'd rather have it made to a static size that fits the above maximum spec size.

If anyone understands this and can give a standard size we could use, could you post it and everyone can follow that size.

Thanks!

Thanks for the posts so far. We were going to reserve comment until there was a variety of submissions so as not to hold back on any creativity.

One thing that might help tough is that we are trying to get the customers to call in as soon as they see the header. We also tend to like things like the photo of the Learjet as opposed to animation, and having multiple professional people in the header seems to convey our size and ability.

The most important things from the original guidelines are:

"...through compelling header design and text be driven to immediately call one of our flight-coordinator operators"

- Absolute professional ability
- Immediate answers to questions
- A large, strong, reliable, safe company with caring flight crews
- We have been in business since 1986.
- We have a 100%, flawless flight safety record
- We have made over 25,000 medical transport flights
- There are 70+ planes in our patient flight network
- We have 20+ flight-coordinator operators who answer calls 24/7

Optionally, we'd like to see the new logo superimposed upon a Learjet (or multiple jets) picture as if it were part of our fleet.

(If I add more to the header it will only look cluttered.)

Thanks everyone.

Anne - the last post #3 is very close to the direction we'd like to head. I think adding on an operator with headset ready to take calls would be a strong addition. Also, maybe breaking down each of the text elements and tieing them in to the appropriate persons image would be great (ie. operator picture and "Over 20 flight coordinators on staff"). Also, images of a Learjet, without overcrowding the header would be great. And, please remember that we can get larger horizontally if needed.

Also, the final logo after reworks (by Diane at VisualSense) is to follow - Thanks for the great work Diane!

OK- Sorry on my end. This has a great look to it, but there are so many things to fit in that it's too cluttered.

Let's please make the standard size 650 pixels wide by 350 Pixels high in order to fit everything in comfortably.

Also, there are a few other specifics:

- Can the logo be made a bit larger?

- It's tough to tell the guy with the glasses is a pilot - placing him in front of a plane, etc. might help

- There should be an urgency for the customer to call in right away for a free consultation on flights - no obligation, pressure or anything - just immediate, free answers to any air ambulance questions.

Thanks!

Joe

Anne-

Thanks that is great and ready for finals. I'm trying to save everyone as much time as possible. Instead of asking to tweak and finalize prior to choosing the winner, I'm trying to get it close enough to the final idea and just tweak the winner afterwards.

Hope that's ok

A note to all -- To save everyone as much time as possible, I just ask for a good general submission that is strong enough to visualize the final, then tweak the winner afterwards.

Thanks!

Thanks!!

Hi Joe

Here are some submissions from me...

1. I decided to use the photo of the little child to invoke strong emotional response - and it also displays the fact that the air ambulances can be called for children too. I have 2 options of this, one with fades stars to represent the USA, and one with faded hearts to represent health.

I would be happy to make any changes at all

Thanks!

Let's use a standard size 650 pixels wide by 350 Pixels high since there is a lot to fit in.

Kelly, I like the first one. Especially the wave, the colors and the balance.

For all of the entries, there is a lot to fit in to this header. But, we want to be sure potential customers get 90% of our selling points by seeing the header for the first time.

Could you please include more images and spaces for text that will convey the following. Also, please use a picture of a learjet as opposed to a prop plane.

The header should convey: "...through compelling header design and text be driven to immediately call one of our flight-coordinator operators"

- Absolute professional ability
- Immediate answers to questions
- A large, strong, reliable, safe company with caring flight crews
- We have a 100%, flawless flight safety record since 1986.
- We have made over 25,000 medical transport flights
- There are 70+ planes in our patient flight network
- We have 20+ flight-coordinator operators who answer calls 24/7

For instance a picture of an operator with "Over 20 flight coordinators ready to take your call" next to it. And a picture of a plane or several planes with "With over 70 planes in our network, we can take you from anywhere to anywhere at a moments notice"

Thanks to everyone. The entries were great, and Anne's came closest to what we were looking for. We'll tweak her final and post the final for everyone.

Best regards to all.
