Background

Company X (name to be determined) is an organization focused on delivering tools and services for faciliating the business of property management. The management team of Company X is sending out a request to get naming ideas for Company X and a domain to be registered.

Business Overview

The business of property management requires the same diligence and effort present in all well run corporations. Property managers deal with sales and marketing, customer acquisition, accounting and customer support among other critical functions of running a successful business. Yet more often than not the property managers do not have the tools they require to perform their function efficiently. Much time is spent keeping information about tenants, leases, and listings in order. Managers do not have a centralized location to maintain all the information about apartments, tenants, leases, listings, etc. Tenants have no visibility into the progress of requests they have raised. The lack of effective tools to manage properties results in a hindrance to growth.

Company X is a newly formed venture that provides tools and services to streamline and automate the business of property management. Company X’s first product offering is manageBuilding.com, which is focused on addressing the requirements of property managers, condominium managers and tenants.

The tools and services provided by manageBuilding.com include the following:

• Sales and Marketing – Managers can market their buildings by listing available units on their own manageBuilding.com enabled web site.
• Customer Acquisition –Prospective tenants can apply for rental units online. From there, managers can run credit checks and generate lease agreements.
• Payment processing and tracking – Tenants can pay their rent online or over the phone using manageBuilding.com’s electronic payment service. Managers can then run reports to understand who has paid on time and who is delinquent.
• Property management – Managers can schedule maintenance and track improvements made to the buildings they manage.
• Tenant management – Tenants can access frequently requested information online, which improves tenant satisfaction and reduces call volume. If tenants can’t find what they are looking for, they can submit requests to the manager and then view the status of the those requests.

manageBuilding.com provides these tools and services through the Internet as an online application service provider (ASP).

Criteria
Name should be catchy and should lend itself well to the creation of brand material including tag lines, logo, letterheads, etc. Please include ideas for the name as well as any tag lines that could be used along with the idea.

Name or variation of that must also be available for use as a domain name for xxxxxxxx.com

We would prefer a company name that is not an acronym. Also, we are open to names that do not necessarily have the word property in them, yet still convey something about who we are. For example, the name Amazon does not say anything about selling books but rather it conveys something that is vast and extensive. That's not to say that we plan to sell widgets, just that the name does not have to contain words like "property", "buildings", etc.

Great suggestions so far. Buildium, terrafirma is in the right direction but would prefer to stay away from the latin words. What about something from greek? Also, keep in mind the name should be easy to spell and easy to say.

In classical architecture, the Telamones are carvings of man who hold up a vesitibule, or act as columns.

So, the Telamones support buildings.

I am really impressed with some of the creativity. While I really like the thinking behind Telamone, the reference is a bit obscure. I'm not sure people will get it. Proma isn't bad. I need to think about it some more. I still like Buildium and TerraFirm. My only reservation with Buildium is that is sounds a bit too cute and perhaps a bit too dotcom. Thoughts on that? TerraFirma sounds a bit more grown up. Again, what's really important is that the name is memorable, easy to say and easy to spell (the spelling shouldn't be ambiguos). Keep the ideas coming. We're getting close. Thanks for all the great ideas so far.

Btw - Propertymanagement.net is for sale at buydomains.com (just type in propertymanagement.net) but don't expect a bargain, their prices are quite expensive.Might be worth a thought though (no matter which name you decide on as your company name), as you could use that domain for SEO (Search Engine Optimizing), especially since google's new algorithm has luckily put some weight on the domainname itself (keyterm in front of the extension) again.
