(Admin code added by Michael - U7279611)
I need a simple header graphic created for a cell phone portal site that I'm about to launch. Here is an example of the "look" I would like my graphic to have:
http://www.marketboost.com/bad/
(It goes without saying, but please do not copy the site above exactly.)
The site will be hosted at 1-cell-phone-portal.com, so "1 Cell Phone Portal" should be reflected in the header. Also, the tag line will be, "The 1 Stop for All Your Cell Phone Needs", and whatever graphical element you use for the "1" in "Cell Phone Portal" should also be carried over to the "1" in the tag line.
As for colors, I'm not dead-set on anything in particular...just try to keep things bright and professional. (And definitely no pastels.)
Like the example site above, I would like to have a graphical element in the header that would invite someone to click on it to receive additional info from me. (As the designer you wouldn't need to worry about any of the coding, just the graphical elements.)
I also like the way that the header's background is set at a 100% width, and would like the same carried over to my header.
As for navigational links, I would like a link for "Home", "About Us", and "Contact Us" reflected in the header.
Finally, the winner should be able to provide the final image in both a flattened jpeg or gif image (whichever is smaller in size and looks the sharpest), as well as the original unflattened file in either Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
If you cannot or will not create the graphic in either Illustrator or Photoshop, please do not enter the contest.
I look forward to your bids!
-Ryan

Count me in on this one
EDIT: Do you have any specific size for the header? Any logo you'd like us to put?

Definitely don't go any wider than 700 pixels (and remember that I want the background to stretch across the page as in the example). As for the height, once you get above 200 pixels I think you're getting a little too wide, so I guess consider 700 x 200 to be your limits.

I don't have a logo, and I want the name (1 Cell Phone Portal) to be text-based so that I can easily change it in either Photoshop or Acrobat. By the way, I didn't mention this in my earlier post, but I plan to use this header (with minor modifications, of course) for other portal sites, so the design needs to stay fairly generic and modular.
Hope all that makes sense. B)

Thanks to everyone who has entered thus far...these really look great! Now for some comments...
Brian (aka Cursal): Your header has all the right elements, but it just seems a little flat. Also, I'm not crazy about the shadow on the words and the image seems a little blurry. I appreciate the effort, but you may need to go back to the drawing board on this one.
Carl: I'm really liking what you've done here! The colors look nice, the balance is good and it has all the elements that I asked for. I also like that you kept things fairly modular as it'll make adapting this design much simpler. If you want to try some different color combinations then be my guest, but you really have a solid entry just as it stands.
Anne: Your entries are also great. (And I appreciate you providing two color combinations so I can get a complete sense of what's possible with this design.) The only thing I would like to see you do is to maybe go with a different cell phone, as the one you use clearly shows the Motorola logo which could get me into hot water sometime down the road. All in all, though, a really great entry.
Thanks again for all the entries, and I look forward to seeing what everyone else can come up with.

Ok, here are some comments on the entries since my last post...
Anne: Good work! I actually like the new cell phone even better than the old one, not to mention the fact that it's logo-free.
DesignGeneral: I'm not all that crazy about the stars. I like that you tried something different, but it's really not my sort of thing. Also, while the cell phone image looks sharp, the "1 Cell Phone Portal" area seems a little bland. I'd also like to see some accent colors used rather than the plain blue and white.
Brian: This latest effort is a big improvement. It's well balanced and has all the elements I'm looking for. Good job and thanks for resubmitting.
Again, thanks everyone for your efforts. I know that people always say this, but it really is going to be a tough decision.
Also, if there aren't anymore entries by the end of tomorrow (July 12th), then I'll probably choose a winner early on the 13th. That being said, if you were planning to submit a design and you haven't yet done so, please let me know ASAP.

Thanks everyone again for your entries...
After careful consideration, I have decided to award this contest to Carl for his initial entry back on July 9th.
While many of the other designs looked awesome, including the latest entries from lonelyrabbit and Design General, I wound up going with Carl's design because I felt like it will be easiest to adapt when I create other portals for other niche markets.
So once again, thanks everyone for your hard work!
