$225.00 reward.
We are a non-profit union of Professional Firefigters of 764 Members in the Central Florida area (the County that surrounds Oralndo). We are part of the International Association of Fire Fighters. We are looking for a new web site and a new logo.
If the logo is accepted by our membership, we will negotaite with the artist a second reward so we could have the item for screen printing, embroidery, stickers, cards and letterhead.
Our current site is http://www.iaff2057.com
It is primarily used by our membership to retrieve information on events, topics, meetings and announcements. It needs to be easily updated or at least have sections that can be. We currently are hosted by profirefighters.com on I.E.6 and use Front Page on Windows XP to make the updates.
Our official name is "Orange County Professional Fire Fighters IAFF Local 2057"
We are looking for a better flowing web page, an impressive looking one. Maybe a live active calander that has links to view event information. We saw one on http://www.phcf.com
The International Union has a web site contest yearly and we would like to submit ours for consideration for winning. If we win, the artists name and information would be forwarded to all interested unions world wide and more business is possible for the winner then. Here are some of the winners and runner ups.

Here are some locals that are near to us, we are "brothers" to them, we would like similar parts of these, BUT a unique and impressive look

http://www.osceolalocal3284.org
This is our departments web site

We also have some organizations that are part of us, but are not affiliated with our local.

Our International web site is
http://www.iaff.org
Please feel free to take any IAFF logos or pictures from the following sites
http://www.ocfrd.com
http://www.ocspecialops.com
http://www.home.cfl.rr.com/rwilco
http://www.iaff.org
http://www.iaff2057.com
If you need any additional material or information please let me know.
We are looking to have all items in by June 9, so we can vote on submissions at our meeting and allow our members to choose the winner. Any additional updates will be made at that time. Again, we are non profit, and we are posting a $225.00 reward for the winner. If a logo is also submitted we will negotiate another reward if we want to use it outside of the web page.
This is our first time asking someone to design for us, if more information is needed please just let us know. B)

I think I could come up with a killer idea for this...but who knows.
Do you have a shield or badge that we can use in the design with your dept. # on it or what-not? Any pictures of your company? Or should we stick to the links your provided?

If you click on OFF DUTY then on STATION T-Shirts, those are some of the stations that have designs for unique patches already. We are the Union that they are all part of. So we make up those and other stations also.
We have nearly 760 members, so a group photo is probably out, but we have some photos on our link on our page. We can get more and I will try to get some for you.
As far as a badge, we use the official IAFF logo on their site. We just use 2057 as our #.
Hope this helped.

This is going to be a neat one. I'll add the admin code tomorrow when the money is deposited.
ps-I fixed your links in the first post so they're clickable, hope that's ok.

Is the $225 for a template, or does that also include programming of the calendar and the back-end? I assume the former, but just want to clarify.

It better just be just the template because if it isn't, it would pretty much exclude everyone but you and Peter

We are just looking for a logo and template that can be edited in front page. (or at least sections of it).
Any additional programing can be discussed afterwards between the winner and us.
Thanks for asking. B)

Do you have any "specific" pictures you would like to see used (or not used )?
PHP/mySQL coding is in my area if you need someone to do it B)

That's cool - You add them to a zip file and use the attach button at the bottom of the message posting window

Hello,
Firstly, I'd like to announce my intention of entering you template contest.
Secondly, I visited the above link, and was inspired to create a "logo"/mascot for your site.
I understand the contest is for a template, not a logo, but if you like the direction I'm moving in, I'd like to design the template around the logo.
I... just got... inspired.
I couldn't help myself.
This is just a rough sketch -- very rough, it needs work.
Please let me know if you like it.
Thank you,
-Kimber.

Wow, that is a awesome dalmation. That would make a great station patch, or a tat. The union however needs to be a little it friendlier. The union represents firefighters, dispatchers and fire inspectors. We represent over 700 people, and the patches you refer to only show about a 1/4 of our stations, the others have no individual designs. The union is very active in community events, fund raisers and political activities. We want something professional, unique and powerful. As good as that dog looks, it may be a little too aggressive for our web page.
Kimber, that dog is awesome, and we may be able to use that for something like a shirt, or a patch design. For the web page, we need something similar to the links you will find in the beginning of our first post. The IAFF type of maltese cross look. If you would like, or with your permission, I will show that sketch around to the members and see if any of the stations that have no design yet would be interested in it, or if anyone wants to make a shirt out of it. IF ANYONE DOES, I would have them get in touch with you for details of an arrangement.
Thanks eveyone for your help and we look forward to seeing a great web page.
Just some things to remember for it, that we may not have expressed.
Its primary reason is to disperse information to our members. However ANYONE can see it, that means politicians, news media and other departments. So we need to have something unique, attractive, professional and clean.
It will be submitted for the International Union web page design contest, and credit will be given if the site makes the top list to the author and could end up getting you some more work if interested.
I am working on getting pictures of some of our crews, and events. I hope to have those over the weekend.
Thanks, stay safe.

I thought you wanted something like this, as the matchstickpress.com/firestore link lead me to believe.
I saw alot of "skeleton" firefighter mascots (a little reaper-ish), and thought that a strong, albeit "aggressive" dalmation might be the way to go.
I didn't full understand that these were station "patches". (Like flying colours I guess, eh?)
Anyway, I like him... and I'll probably work on him a little more, but that won't stop me from entering a template for your competition.

Firefighter, all you have to do is post a message in this thread and at the bottom is an option to attach a file from your computer. Just find the zip file and select it then click add reply.
Thanks

I could not get them to upload either, even after putting them in 3 zip files. I think the file size may be too big. Anyway, I uploaded them to the server and here is a link. Design Team members may right click and save them to your computer...
http://www.designoutpost.com/firefighter/
I also added the link to the first message.

Mr. Firefighter,
With my permission, please show it to your friends, (but not that rough sketch).
Here's a nice clean, full colour doggie to show around.
Template to follow...

Kimber, thats awesome, I am actually on my way to a community event with the Union and I am printing a copy to show around. If any interest is given I will get them in touch with you, if the Union Officers like it, I will also let you know. I think its awesome.
Stay safe.
