Talking Painting Company Door Hanger - $125 + IncTalk.com ad

(Admin code added by Palmer - 2L40902612)

Oh Great Ones!

I’m ready for a new design contest for our painting company. This time we are looking for an eye catching door hanger.

Quick Info
Company Name: Service Pro Painters
Project: 2 sided full color door hanger
Size: 4.25” x 11”
Printer: http://www.48hourprint.com
Printers Instructions: http://www.48hourprint.com/templates.html
Contest Close: 2/2/05 (give or take a few days. Make sure you post telling me that you are working on a design so I don’t close the contest before seeing your entry.)
Prize: $125 + 1 month of a 120x60 ad on www.IncTalk.com (where the contractortalk.com ad is currently)

This door hanger is meant to get our name out into the community and tell them a little bit about ourselves. I figure that most people will grab the thing and throw it into the trash so you guys have about 3 seconds to sell the consumer on a new paint job . We have two full color sides to work with so use the space as you see fit.

We are located in Central Florida so all the pictures used in this door hanger need to match that architecture style (stucco homes, etc..).
There are a few things we would like to see on this card and they are listed below. Feel free to add whatever message you wish to grab peoples attention.

Required Content:
Service Pro Painters Logo ( http://www.servicepropainters.com/logos/ )
$100 off* any full Interior or Exterior paint job
* Not to be combined with any other offer. Expires 12/31/05
www.ServiceProPainters.com
(800) 831-0310
Credit Card Logos (Amex, Visa, MasterCard, Discover)
Call Today for a FREE ESTIMATE!
Warranty Seal
Licensed
Insured
Exterior Painting
Interior Painting

Optional Content:
info@servicepropainters.com
Locally owned and operated

* I will require all copy rights to the design, the designer can use it for a portfolio.

Any questions? I will give prompt feedback on everyone’s designs. I can’t wait to see what you guys can come up with. Good Luck!

Glad to see you enter Luc!

Anyone else?

Hello Nwingate,

My first submission is a bit different...but this is how I see the idea. I'm posting only the front because the back is not ready yet. The idea beyond the frontcover came into my mind after I read your first post:
Quote:
I figure that most people will grab the thing and throw it into the trash so you guys have about 3 seconds to sell the consumer on a new paint job
I wanted to design a very clean and simple frontcover, based on the concept of "color" and the meaning of that color, because the color is the main "ingredient" you're working with. So I chose for the beginning - "yellow", thinking about the house interiors. Why the flower? Why not? The idea can be continued with other colors and meanings, with objects etc.

And the frontcover says it, but it didn't say it all. So maybe it could win more than 3 seconds...for the backside.
Where I'm intending to place photos of houses from your portfolio and all the info needed.

Gilles

Gilles: Wow, that's very eye catching! I really like it. The only reason I'm hesitant is listed below. If you have a back I would still love to see it. I really like the design and may be able to use it in the fall/winter months.

EVERYONE:
One thing I forgot to mention. While we do paint both interiors and exteriors, we make a lot more money off of exteriors and are focus for this flyer should be to win exterior work. Sorry I didn't mention that before.

Hello Nathan,

Thank you for the quick feedback I'm working on the backcover. It will contain mainly exterior work. The idea behind the frontcover was for clients to actually turn the doorhanger to see the back. On the back I will place photos from your portfolio. The idea is that I could change the color and the object on the front for different emotions connected with the colors, so the doorhanger to have some "continuity" on the front cover, something that people would remember.

Working on it
Gilles.

Hello Nathan,

Here is the backover I used the same colors as in the logo and, as I said, I used only exterior pics.
Feel free to make any changes to this design
(the red lines will dissappear when printing, I left them for you to have an idea of where the doorhanger will be cut).

Gilles.

Gilles: Overall not bad. There are a few tweaks that I would like to see on the back like a bigger logo, but I'll hold off for now. Let me get a few other designs and I'll have you make the tweaks if I pick you as the winner. Got any other concepts? I like this but I'm always up for more
Thanks for the quick and great work!

Ok, here are some stock photos that you can use for this project. I've been really hesitant to post these because I don't want these door hangers to all look a like. In the past when I've posted photos everyone picks the same one and everything ends up looking the same.

I would like to see pictures and design elements used besides these photos. Something bold and creative.

Anyways, here is the file:

I've been trying to look around and find some door hangers that I really like to give you guys some direction.
The ones listed in this thread are my favorite: http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/...?t=2650&page=1

They are bright, bold, and sell the message quick.

Hope this helps....

ElKootcho & Cre8or: Are either of you planning on entering this contest? You guys created my business cards and posts cards. I would love to see what you had in store for this contest. THANKS!

Carl: Thanks for entering the contest. I like your design but the colors on my logo and therefore the whole card are wrong.
The colors should look like this....

Can you see the difference?

Also, on the back of the card the logo seems to blend into the background a little too much. Make sense?

Thanks for the design. I'm excited to see what else you come up with.

Updated Colors. I was trying to match spot colors which your logo isn't built in.

There are going to be slight color variations anyway because you are seeing an RGB format of a CMYK color and their color gamuts are completely different.

If chose, once the work is complete, the color match will be correct with the CMYK colors in your logo.

Carl: Those colors look MUCH better!
I like the back of the card... but I think I would like to see come different concepts for the front. The logo needs to be bigger and I don't think it grabs people enough. Not sure if the words are doing it for me. ( sorry)

EVERYONE: I guess I was a bit confusing when I said that I needed a warranty seal on the back of the card. I don't need to words warranty seal. I need a seal design. Here is the one we used for our post card....

I can give the source to this file if needed.
I was looking for one that just said Warranty and didn't give the number of years because we may change it soon.

Luc: Creative design. I like that you put the brushes on the front so the design really says "painter". But I'm not sure about the overall look. I like #2 better than #1 but I still think it needs something more or maybe some text.
Maybe the brush could be changing the color of the house without everything being muted?

Do you have a back design?

Thanks for the hard work.

I wanted to put a text on the front but I don't know what message to put. Can you tell me? And yes I will work on the back design.

Hello Nathan,

Here's a different concept I tried to keep the frontcover simple but to make it easy to understand what the "painting" business is about. The shapes and forms used on the frontcovcer are enlarged parts of your logo. This time, I combined exterior house images with interior pics, but much smaller. I think that now it's easy to understand what the business is about, the "human" element actually painting the logo Also, the house yellow profile suggest a "1"..I'm working on the backcover, where I wil post all info needed.

Thank you,
Gilles.

How about this? I got the text from your ad review at inctalk. I'm also working on the back design.
