Business Card design needed for landscape company $75 prize

(Admin code added by Palmer - NK1952221)

[edit]logo file: http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/...chmentid=31766[/edit]

I am in need of a business card design. I own a landscape business that provides the following services: Maintenance Landscaping, Hardscapes,Design/Build, Irrigation,& Consultations. I would like a 2 sided card design and of course the front being the better ( most dynamic)of the two. The printer being used for the cards will be www.overnightprints.com A review of the requirments should be view based on your design software before designing. You can find this by looking on the "spec" page. a link for it is found here. http://www.overnightprints.com/main....der&new=1&p=bc

The following colors maybe used in the design of the card. I would like to have it with these colors mainly, but you may use other colors as needed. All are in RGB format codes

R G B
204 204 153
132 123 89
102 102 0
222 224 188
204 204 102
128 0 0
124 90 56
120 120 120
153 153 153
28 22 104
0 122 0

The front of the card should contain my logo graphic which will be sent to Palmer to post here. It should also contain the basic information such as my name address, and web site and phone numbers. ( the standard info )

The back should have the following on it:
Commercial, Residential, Licensed & Insured, 18 month guarentee on all shrubs & trees, Maintenance, Landscapes, Hardscapes, Design/Build, Decks & Fences, Irrigation, Consultations

Once the cards have been designed i will need to know what type of design software was used in designing the card to aid in the process of printing submission.

I am open to all designs and different concepts. Thanks for the ideas.

logo colors

here are the color codes for the logo that we currently use as before all of the colors are in RGB format right now.

Green- 59 149 28
Blue - 28 22 255

The colors that i posted in the beginning post are only suggested colors those are the colors that we used when designing our website. i only posted them so that they could be used for the card to keep things uniform between all mediums of the business.

The deadline for this design contest will be Feb 5 2005. 12am CST, uless i have not chosen a designer by them i will extend the deadline at that time.

Thanks Brian

We do not have the clients put their personal information online. Just use filler text for now. It will be changed in the Revisions forum if it is chosen. The revisions forum is hidden from the public.

Thanks

hey to all i do not have a vector file of the logo it is something i designed myself.it isnt anything but font so it should not be that hard to reproduce, if you need to do so. I didnt provide any of my information for security reasons. once i choose the designer then i will provide that info in the revisions forum, just as mentioned above. any more questions and i will be happy to answer them. i am supprised though it has almost been 48 hrs since i first started this design and still yet no designs is everyone on vacation or something, so many designers from around the world yet no designs??? last design i had here was quickly done where is everyone?

very nice designs i like the total design of the first selections better but i like the pic on the second set better. im not usre that having pictures of grass is what i am looking for since we do offer other services as well, but im not ruling it out.also how about using some of the other colors listed my web site is done in those colors take a look at it and you can see the style of the pages. www.groundeffectsmemphis.com im wanting to keep things similar throughout the different advertising mediums.

QD- NICE i like the design on the back could we make the "18 month guarentee......" stand out some more maybe bigger, bold all caps etc use it more as a selling point rather than a listing. maybe even a different color for that text. overall i like the design simple and clean, and flowing

QD- i like the design bur after sitting on it for a while its just to basic for what i am wanting. i am looking for something with more design in it. i could make that on my comp here at home. the colors are right on though.

Grafissimo-i like C and E out of all of them. the thing i dont like about C is that with the logo text has a white outline around it. the font color doesnt read good as blue maybe use one of the tan colors. and also the water mark looks out of sync with everything. i do like the picture though is there any way to darken it some though it look really bright almost over powering. In the logo design E i like the idea of the tall business card but there is too much white, and i dont think the clover would be a good idea since it is considered a weed. I do like the original post with the pile of grass clippings, but once again too much white ( maybe a different background color like the web site has) and the text being blue is too much blue along with the blue in the logo. the logo needs to have the blue, but not the info.

shandley- the logo on the front is not correct. the text is not all together nor is the color right. changing the "groundeffects" to white is ok for purpose of background having color.the back there is just too much blue and the text would look better centered. also as mentioned to QD i could make something like that here at home, more design aspect would be good.

On the back i do like the bullet points between the text as QD used in on the the designs.

Thanks for any revisions. I am still open to other designers getting in on here and getting some designs in.

Whichever designer you choose will submit your cards in the accepted format that your printer (overnightprints.com) has requested on their spec page.

I am not sure which designer actually asked for the fonts, but just a reminder that any communication between a designer and client regarding a project they are going to be entering is prohibited. If you need information regarding fonts, logos, pictures, etc. please do so within the project thread so that all designers can see the request and don't duplicate such.

Thanks!

grafissimo-of the three new concepts i like "J" the best. can we change the picture in the middle of the rocks to something else, a more definative rock(s). Also the i will need the text to be as Office: 123-4567 Fax: 890-1234. also is there a way to make the logo text no look so 3D it looks like it is bubbleish ( if that makes sense) it looks as if it is almost raised on paper........ good design idea sense no one else has decided to post ideas on here and QD removed his designs for aome reason- i guess he doesnt like critisism??? lets get these changes made and see what it looks like. looks like you got things in the hat as of right now. thanks for the design.

I removed them because the images that I post here are linked from my own website. When they are no longer needed, I delete them so they don't continue to use up disk space and bandwidth. Criticism is part of the deal, no offense taken. Good luck with your project.

Carl- nice design the overall layout i like but the picture of the lawn tractor im not sure about. its a lawn tractor not a commercial mower.. could we take it out. also change the picture. the picture of landscapes is a good thing but that one predominatly shows the big green shrub, maybe one that has more color or detail in the flower beds.I do like the "optional back" with the frame . it adds alot of intrest. lets stick with it. instead of the word "and" lets change to "&" between residential & commercial. and also between "trees & shrubs" and "Licensed & Insured" on the front lets put the logo at the top, then the name and then address at the bottom. also take out the haze affect around the picture. Overall i like the design alot. great ideas.

thanks B

I can change the picture.

There is a method to the madness of design. Your logo is a logical fit on the bottom of the card. The name "Ground Effects" evokes a sense of stability and foundation, plus it includes the word "Ground". From a design standpoint, it makes more sense on the bottom of the card. There is such little Real Estate on a business card, that the positioning of the logo on the bottom will not lessen it's impact. In fact, when images are used, human eyes travel to the bottom of the image and then across to the right, which brings your eyes right to the logo. Essentially the logo is in the second most prominent part of the card.

Just giving you my thought process. I will, of course, post your revisions.

Business Card One - Version Two

GroundFx,

Here is pass two.

I made the necessary text changes, moved the logo, highlighted the lawn and color depth in the picture, removed the frame from top of card and removed the lawn mower from the image.

I also realized my color was off when I posted the back the first time. This image shows what I intended, but if you like the darker version, I can post the revisions with that too.

Thanks!

Carl- "trees and shrubs" should be "trees & shrubs " use the & also how about changing it to all caps. ON ALL TREES & SHRUBS maybe a small caps would look good . i think it kinda looks goofy under the all caps text. coudl you post the back with the light and dark backgrounds next to each other. i am thinking i like the darker one better but its hard to judge having to scroll up the page. Are there any other pics that you could use instead of the current. If you have some others could you post them please, not nec. with the card, just the pic itself would be fine. the front also needs a line for the web site. other than those few things it looks good thanks for the revisions. its 12:30am here so im headed to bed ill check tomorrow sometime for any new revisions

Thanks B
