Hello Everyone, (Admin code added by Palmer - V9366532)
My name is MARKO, I've been lurking on the DesignOutpost.com message boards for the last few weeks and I'm pleased with the exceptional talent that's here. I'm quite hopeful that you can create a logo for my tree stump removal business.

The logo will be initiated on all legal documents. *Also estimate/invoice forms, business cards, white work truck, shirts and other forms of advertisement.

My business name is "got stumps?" in lower case fonts in black with the tiny ™ trademark logo above the right hand corner. I believe the font name is, Gill Sans or the original fonts on the "got milk?" slogan.

Underneath the "got stumps?" I would like the tagline "Tree Stump Removal Service." Also the image of two tree stumps. One could show the stump's massive root system spreading out. And the other stump smaller in the background. The image of these two stumps should be centered under the two taglines.

Below the image will be my slogan...
******************************"We get to the ground of your problem"
Please use fonts for "got stumps?" from my specifications. All other lettering I'll leave up to you. Make it dazzle! One more note: Use one line space after "got stumps?" so it stands out, yet still grouped with the rest of the logo.

I hope this isn't too complicated. I'll follow through with more guidance, as needed.
Would hope two weeks is a sufficient time frame to complete logo.
The price is $75.00
completed by June 18th, 2003

Thank you,
MARKO

Hello, no takers? I hope this isn't a complicated contest, thought it would be a very simple one. Is their anything I can do to make it easier for anyone? Well, good luck.

I'm sure you will get plenty, so don't panic..Most of the designers here are never ‘stumped’ for ideas..ha ha

Good luck

And as a 'veteran' contest holder, I might suggest loosening up the contraints you have about fonts and placement relative to the logo, etc - these folks come up with ideas from many different angles, ones I would never think of - just as a landscape designer I want my clients to let me do my thing, let these folks do theirs...they're better at it than we are.

Hi Marko.
Here's a first attempt. Just a suggestion: on the second one i did, i changed your tagline line to read " we get to the ROOT of your problem. What do you think of that rather than "ground"?

Thanks

Ed, thanks for your reply. It certainly looks different then what I had anticipated. I like the top one but the stump, could you make it a little wider but yet, sloping it more sideway as to make it look wider and massive? The reason why I didn't choose the other slogan is because we specialize in only removing stumps and large surface root on the ground so you can also remove the root hairs. Thanks for the effort.

Ed, your stump so far looks better as it's looks intimating and you've add wedges to it. Could you put "got stump" on the top? my biz name has to shine out and I would like it at the top, and you can also get rid of the root that is underneath the p from stump as It will do without it. How about putting the stump underneath "Tree Stump Removal Service" and see what it looks like. You're doing good, Before you know it, you're going to be the stump expert. Thanks very much.

Ed, it's getting better, I like the first two top ones. Could you put the tagline ."Tree Stump Removal Service" below the "got stump" and round it off like you did to the second one (got stump) and shorten the tagline. The "got stumps" can remind straight, let's see how that goes. Thanks!

Ed, big improvement. I like that 3-d effect and two color tones you have on that middle one, could you add that to the tagline "Tree Stump Removal Service" on that top PIC and still shorten it one more time? Also, bump up "got stump" one notch more and put that brown streak you have across the stump and put it underneath the slogan, Please. Thanks!

Ed, that is pretty much what I had in mind, Could the tagline be the same color as the streak underneath the slogan? Would you also make that stump a little smaller as it is really too big and would you be able to create me another stump but yet smaller then the one you already made? It doesn't have to be like the other one but similar, my biz name " ... stumps?" is plural which would make sense to have more then one. Let's see how that looks.

Hello Marko,
Please accept this gnarly old, nasty-stump as my submission for your logo.
Please advise.

Ed, I've been pondering about this and I've decided I would like to get rid of the little stump, could you do that and then raise up the "got stump" one space? Thank you.

Kimber, that is a very impressive stump, in fact, that double angle cut is a very common cut when cutting down trees that has a huge trunk. I like the bottom PIC, could you make the stump a little smaller and wrap the tagline around it on top somewhat like a half circle? Thanks

Kimber, I'm sorry, I meant the "Tree Stump Removal Service" wrapped above the stump and the slogan "we get to the ground of your problem" underneath the stump in a straight line just like your last image . I would also like "got stump" to be a space or two higher above the rest of the logo as I want the title to stick out...it's all good. Thanks B)

Ed, could you add another color to the tagline and remove those three pointers from the stump? I want to see how that looks. Thanks!

Kimber, could you add a little brownish color to the stump and a more hip looking fonts to the tagline and slogan? Thank you.

Hi Marko.
My stump was brownish (on my monitor).
Hope it's not too dark now.

Any thoughts for the "Hip" fonts?
I tried this one...

Kimber, I do like the fonts but how about if you add some bright colors to it. It looks like it has too much dark color along with the stump and would you be able to just a little lighten up on the stump color? not too dark but a tad brighter. Thanks!

Knocked off the 3 little "splinters" and added some color.

Hi Marko,
I hope this one's "brighter".
Please keep in mind the differences in monitor calibration, and that the colours you see here
may not accurately represent the colours in print.

Anything else, let me know...
